Chapter 322: Chapter 322: Could She Be My Daughter

Gabriel Miles left, and Benjamin Harper attended to Hunter Miles with his medication.

Hunter Miles paused, and once he calmed down a bit, he said, "Evan, find me a lawyer. I want to file for divorce from Eleanor Shaw."

Hearing this, Benjamin Harper nodded, "Alright."

At this point, Hunter deciding only to divorce Eleanor was already saving face for Gabriel Miles.

He also understood that Hunter was always a very peaceful person.

Not exposing the affair between Gabriel Miles and Eleanor Shaw was partly out of old affection and partly to protect the Miles family’s reputation.

After all, the Miles family held a significant position in Sea City.

If such a scandal became public, the Miles family would lose face among the prominent families.

"However, I want Eleanor Shaw to leave with nothing. Also, the shares of the Grant Family I gave her must be returned. If she’s unwilling, then she can’t blame me for being ruthless."

Hunter’s tone was filled with suppressed anger and pain, and Benjamin Harper nodded again.

Hunter glanced at him and sighed, "I hope Elly is my daughter. That way, I can justifiably transfer the shares to her."

Benjamin Harper curved his lips slightly and reassured him, "Uncle Miles, just be patient for a couple more days; the results will be out soon."

"Do you think she could be my daughter?"

Hunter couldn’t help but ask, filled with anticipation.

Benjamin Harper of course hoped so, but he wasn’t a seer and didn’t truly know.

"Uncle Miles, didn’t you say that even if Elly isn’t your biological daughter, you would still treat her as your own?"

Hunter sighed and smiled, "Yes, I certainly feel an indescribable closeness with Elly. Look at me, I’m really getting on in years and tend to overthink."

Hunter paused and looked at Benjamin Harper, "Too bad she’s tangled with that Hawke Family kid; otherwise, if you two were together, my later years would be even more promising."

Hearing this, Benjamin Harper smiled slightly, a flash of emotion in his eyes.

He, too, felt the regret.

Meeting the right person at the wrong time.

This must be what it means to have no fate despite being destined to meet.

"By the way, Uncle Miles, I heard that under Julian’s leadership, the Grant Family intends to takeover Hawke Corporation. Recently, both the Grant and Hawke Corporations have been in turmoil."

Thinking of this, Benjamin Harper’s expression turned slightly serious.

Hunter furrowed his brows immediately, "What is Gavin planning? Why target the Hawke Corporation?"

"I’m not sure, I only know that if Gavin continues to use underhanded strategies by undercutting Hawke Corporation in business, the Grant Family might fall into a financial crisis."

Benjamin Harper spoke truthfully.

Hunter pondered for a moment, "I understand. Next time there’s a board meeting, take me with you."

"Okay." Benjamin Harper nodded.

Hunter recalled something and curiously asked, "I’ve heard rumors that Damon Hawke isn’t a Hawke Family descendant, but Elder Hawthorne’s grandson, is that true?"

"Correct. That’s why the Hawke Corporation is now managed by the true Hawke Family descendant, Cole Hawke."

Benjamin Harper nodded.

"So it’s true then? And the biological mother of the Hawke Family kid is Vinny Hawke, but who’s the biological father...?"

"His name is Andrew King."

Benjamin Harper shared what he knew with Hunter, who listened carefully, realizing every family has its secrets.

The two of them chatted like a true father and son.

"Since they’re in the same hospital, please go check on him for me later."

Hunter spoke with Benjamin Harper for a while and made this request.

"Sure," Benjamin Harper agreed.

...

Elara Don had just finished work, and only after receiving numerous urgent calls from the hospital did she reluctantly head to the ward.

Had it not been for the pending test results confirming whether the person in the hospital was truly Damon Hawke, she really wouldn’t want to face that face.

Reaching the ward door, she peered through the clear glass to see the man on the hospital bed casually shaking his leg while eating fruit.

Leg shaking!

The previous Damon Hawke was flawless in demeanor and etiquette, and no matter how laid-back, he would never adopt such a nonchalant attitude.

Elara Don frowned, tempted to turn back.

"Elly?"

A gentle male voice sounded behind her, and turning around, she saw it was Benjamin Harper and immediately smiled.

"Evan, what’s the matter?"

"I’m here to check on Mr. Hawke."

Benjamin Harper glanced at the ward, "Why are you standing at the door and not going in?"

Elara Don opened her mouth, somewhat awkwardly tidying the hair around her ears, and chuckled, "I probably knew you were coming, so I waited for you at the door."

"Really? So you’re a psychic?"

Benjamin Harper raised an eyebrow, playfully quipping along.

"Haha, isn’t it? Do you want a fortune reading?"

"I wouldn’t mind."

As the two chatted and laughed, the ward door suddenly opened.

The nurse stood at the door, nodding towards them.

"Miss Thorne is here."

Elara Don still had a smile on her face, but as the door opened, the smile slightly faded.

Her gaze fell on the hospital bed, only to see ’Damon Hawke’ staring intensely at her.

"Tom, a friend has come to see you."

Elara Don regained her composure and, with Benjamin Harper in tow, approached the bed.

George Harris eyed Benjamin Harper, "Elly, who is this?"

"He is Benjamin Harper, a very popular actor right now."

Elara Don introduced Benjamin Harper.

Benjamin Harper nodded slightly to George Harris, "Mr. Hawke, I heard you had some trouble, so I came to see you."

"Oh, a friend who’s an actor? Quite good looking indeed."

George Harris raised an eyebrow with a hint of sarcasm.

He thought of his own career as a male escort.

Both rely on their looks. Why are actors like this showered with admiration while he gets disdainful looks?

Benjamin Harper looked at George Harris, his brow slightly creased.

Previously, Damon Hawke’s attitude toward him wasn’t friendly, but he would never rudely call him an actor.

No wonder Elara Don said after Damon fell, he seemed like a different person.

"Evan, Tom just woke up and might not be thinking clearly, don’t take it to heart."

Elara Don was simply speechless and quickly smoothed things over.

"Not at all."

Benjamin Harper gave Elara Don a comforting smile.

Their mutual gaze seemed affectionate, at least to George Harris.

"Elly, how am I not thinking clearly? Remember, you’re the mother of two kids, don’t get too close to some actor, lest people think I’m wearing a green hat."

Such words were simply outrageous.

Elara Don suppressed her frustration, "Tom, could you be less offensive with your words? Alright, I’ll accompany Evan out first."

Benjamin Harper raised an eyebrow, nodded slightly to George Harris, and turned to leave.

Outside the ward, Benjamin Harper looked at the frowning Elara Don, "Elly, Mr. Hawke’s fall really seems to have changed him. Were it not for the same face, I would think he’s a different person."

Isn’t that so?

Elara Don’s eyes flickered, but she didn’t share her suspicion with him just yet.

"Thanks for visiting him. How is Uncle Miles today?"

"Not particularly well; why don’t you come with me to see him?"

Benjamin Harper suggested.

Elara Don was about to agree when someone approached from a distance.

"Elly."
