Chapter 320: Chapter 320: His Excellence Is Plain to See

Elara Don made an excuse to go back and get something, letting Artie Hawthorne and Helen leave first, while she took the sample for comparison.

She hoped she was overthinking it, hoped that the man in the bed was Damon Hawke, who had just lost his mind from a fall.

Elara silently prayed, then headed to the company.

Arriving at Hawke Group, seeing the familiar people and scenery, and recalling the times she worked with Damon Hawke, Elara sighed.

In just a few short months, she didn’t expect to meet her destined person here.

She hoped everything would be okay.

"Charlotte, you’re back?"

In the R&D department, Ethan Lane was delighted to see Elara Don at work.

"Charlotte, you finally came back. We were almost dead from the workload without you."

"Charlotte, are you okay?"

"..."

Several colleagues gathered around, surrounding Elara.

Elara felt a warmth in her heart and greeted them.

"Charlotte, we all saw the news. Is Mr. Hawke okay?"

Ethan looked at Elara, his face full of concern.

Elara’s smile faded slightly, and she responded perfunctorily, "He’s fine."

"Charlotte, I really didn’t expect Mr. Hawke to have such a background, but his excellence is obvious to all."

"Isn’t that true? Now that Mr. Hawke’s in trouble, and replaced by another Mr. Hawke, it seems we’ve lost several business deals."

"I see that the company’s employees all hope for Mr. Hawke to return and take charge."

"..."

Several colleagues gossiped animatedly.

Elara just smiled, not saying anything, and sat down at her desk.

"Alright, everyone, get back to work."

Seeing that Elara didn’t want to talk much, Ethan signaled everyone to give her space.

The surrounding colleagues returned to their desks.

Ethan looked at Elara and quietly asked, "Charlotte, does this mean Mr. Hawke won’t be the group leader anymore?"

Elara paused in her movements, "I’m not really sure, probably."

"Well, I’m not saying that Cole Hawke isn’t good, but in terms of ability, Damon Hawke is slightly better. If Damon Hawke was still here, the Grant Family wouldn’t have had the chance."

Ethan sighed.

Elara neatly arranged her things, pressing her lips together, without speaking.

"Gavin Miles just came by again, no one knows why? It feels like the Grant Family wants to swallow Hawke Corporation whole?"

Ethan shook his head, and seeing Elara silent, he greeted her and went back to his office.

Hearing Ethan’s words, Elara immediately frowned.

Gavin Miles came again?

What does he want?

In the meeting room, Cole Hawke opened the door and walked in, looking at the slender Gavin Miles with cold eyes.

"Mr. Miles, what brings you to Hawke Corporation today?"

Gavin smiled slightly, "Congratulations, Mr. Hawke, on becoming the new head of Hawke Corporation. Why do you seem to be unwelcoming towards me?"

Cole glanced at him, "Mr. Miles, your insight is good, but since you’re not my ally, if I welcomed you, wouldn’t I be a fool?"

"Heh, well put, Mr. Hawke. You should consider me an ally. After all, without me, you wouldn’t have become the head of Hawke Group." 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖

Gavin smiled meaningfully.

Shouldn’t this Cole Hawke be grateful to him?

If it wasn’t for him, how could Damon Hawke’s background have become public knowledge?

How could Damon have been pulled down?

Logically, Cole should be grateful to him.

"So, the person who has been monitoring me, is your doing?"

Cole narrowed his eyes and asked coldly.

Gavin raised an eyebrow, took a sip of tea, making no direct response.

"Then the person who caused my cousin’s car accident, could it also be yours?"

Cole asked sternly, his face steely.

Gavin put down the teacup, casually saying, "Mr. Hawke, you can eat the wrong things, but don’t say the wrong words. Without evidence, you can’t slander me. However, I still think you should treat the person who pulled Damon Hawke down kindly. After all, without that person, you wouldn’t be in this position, right?"

Trying to trap him?

He’s not that foolish to make a face-to-face admission.

"Mr. Miles seems to love meddling in irrelevant matters. Whether Damon is my uncle or cousin, we’re all Hawkes. In the face of a major enemy, we will only unite outward. Any despicable people trying to sow discord should just give up this idea early on."

Cole disparaged with a stony face.

The smile on Gavin’s face stiffened, his eyes fixed on Cole.

Is he calling him despicable?

Quite stubborn.

Gavin curled his lips, "Mr. Hawke, don’t look at me like an enemy. You should believe in my sincerity. I came today specifically to become allies with you."

He didn’t believe that this Cole Hawke wasn’t secretly pleased now.

He just didn’t want to show it.

Gavin looked at Cole and continued, "There’s a medical project. I know your Hawke Corporation is also bidding for it. Instead of both getting hurt, let’s make money together; let’s have Grant Family and Hawke Corporation cooperate."

Hearing this, Cole scoffed lightly.

"Looks like Mr. Miles is here today to seek peace? Is it because you’re out of money? Can’t afford the fight? Sorry, I don’t like to deal with a tiger at the price of my skin— I prefer eating alone."

"You..."

Gavin’s face darkened, "Mr. Hawke, I suggest you think carefully before speaking. I came today with utmost sincerity for cooperation. If you’re not willing, then our Grant Family will continue to fight for it."

"I don’t see you having the courage of Damon Hawke. If Hawke Group continues to decline in your hands, just wait until everyone mocks you, saying you’re not as good as Damon."

After Gavin finished speaking, he stood up and said, "I’ve said all I need to say. Mr. Hawke, think it over thoroughly and contact me when you’re ready."

Watching Gavin open the door and leave, Cole sat with a grim face, his fingers clenched tightly.

Is he not as good as Damon?

Is he really not as good as Damon?

Is the Hawke Corporation really not viable without Damon around?

"Senior, why did Gavin Miles visit?"

Elara Don opened the door and asked.

Cole snapped back, seeing Elara enter, he relaxed slightly.

"He’s here for cooperation."

Hearing this, Elara slightly frowned,

"Gavin Miles is seeking cooperation again? Senior, he has ulterior motives, you must be careful."

This Gavin Miles looks shady; surely this man has psychological issues, not straightforward at all.

"Elly, do you all think I’m not as good as Damon?"

Cole looked at Elara with steady eyes.

Elara snapped back and, noticing Cole’s unpleasant expression, pressed her lips a bit.

"Senior, I don’t think you’re inferior to Tom, but I must admit, Tom is a business genius, as you think so too, right?"

Cole said nothing, but his fingers curled slightly.

Elara continued, "Senior, the company has faced problems, and I know you’re not in a good mood, maybe overly sensitive right now, and perhaps even a simple remark from others is piercing to you."

"What I want to say is, senior, you’re also an outstanding young person. Even if in some aspects you’re not as capable as Tom, you are surely far superior to people like Gavin Miles. So, I believe you can lead Hawke Group to overcome these challenges and achieve new heights."
