Daddy, You Got The Wrong Mommy-Chapter 256: They Broke Up
Elara Don took her water cup to the break room.
After getting a cup of water, she stood by the window and drank slowly.
"Did you break up with him?"
A man’s voice came from behind, carrying a hint of joy.
Elara didn’t need to turn around to know who it was.
She ignored him, cradled her cup, and turned to leave.
Cole Hawke looked at the woman’s cold face, his lips curled up slightly.
She did follow his advice and broke up with Damon Hawke.
While he was pleased, he couldn’t help but sigh a little.
Her willingness to break up with Damon was still a testament to her feelings for him.
She must really like Damon.
If she didn’t care, she wouldn’t be bothered or threatened by him.
Elara returned to her workstation and began drafting an application.
It’s almost the end of the year, and she has to return to headquarters to report on the progress.
"Charlotte, are you okay with Mr. Hawke?"
Ethan Lane walked over to Elara’s side and asked with concern.
Elara printed out the application report and smiled at him, "Director Lane, thank you for your care these past few months. I need to make a trip back to headquarters, return date undecided."
The implication was indirectly telling him that she and Damon did indeed break up.
Earlier, it was just speculation among everyone; now she’s leaving, which is a confirmation.
"Looks like Mr. Hawke really broke up to have such a big temper tantrum."
"Did Mr. Hawke and Charlotte really break up? But don’t they have two kids together?"
"What breakup? They’ve never been together, okay?"
"Exactly, even if Charlotte gave Mr. Hawke two kids, so what? In aristocratic families, what matters is status equality."
"..."
Colleagues behind her murmured, Elara pursed her lips, letting it go from one ear out the other.
Her breakup with Damon was only temporary; she needed to first deal with the matter of Cole Hawke!
Elara went to the president’s office, knocked, and pushed the door open.
Inside, Damon was sitting in the executive chair reading documents, with several scattered on the floor.
Seeing Elara enter, he raised an eyebrow, a smile tugging at his lips.
Elara closed the door, blinking her almond eyes, "Mr. Hawke, now that we’re broken up, is there something you should do to me upon my arrival?"
Do something?
Damon stood and walked to Elara, pulling her into an embrace.
Long fingers brushed over her body, with utmost tenderness.
Yet his voice carried a chill.
"What are you here for? Get out of here!"
Damn it, his wife wanted her to pretend to break up, and he had to play along!
Frustrating!
Elara slapped away the restless hands of the man, coyly looking at him, "Mr. Hawke, we’re broken up, stop touching me."
This man was indeed a good actor.
In just half a day, everyone at the Hawke Corporation knew he was heartbroken.
No higher-up dared come to him to report work.
Afraid of bad luck.
"Darling, there’s no one else here, so stop making me put on an act."
Damon held Elara as they sat on the sofa, a face full of smiles.
"Let go, I’m here to submit my application report, I need to return immediately."
Elara tried to pull Damon’s hand away, but he held her tighter.
"Darling, you asked me to trust you and play along, but you need to tell me the reason, right? If you don’t tell me why, and still want to return to Lionne Group, tell me, what exactly do you intend to do? You wouldn’t be deceiving me, truly intending to cut ties, would you?"
Damon’s brow furrowed slightly, his dark gaze deep as he looked at Elara.
Elara cradled Damon’s face, "Tom, I don’t tell you for a reason, once I handle it, you’ll know. You should know, we have two kids, I love them so much, how could I abandon them and choose to cut ties with you?"
The woman expressed her intentions seriously.
Damon’s brows didn’t relax, discontented, "So, you’re choosing to be with me just for the kids?"
Elara: "..."
This man, why does he always focus on semantics.
Elara complained with a glare, reaching out to smooth the crease between his eyebrows.
Her gaze moved to his thin lips, covering them.
She didn’t want to say much, only wanted her actions to express her feelings.
Choosing to be with him was not just for the kids.
She loves him!
The woman’s lips were as sweet and soft as ever, Damon’s eyes darkened, his hand unconsciously sliding under her clothes.
Elara felt his change and quickly pushed him away.
"Alright, I need to go, or the act will be exposed."
Looking at the woman tidying her clothes to leave, Damon’s dark eyes were deep, his face full of discontent.
"Darling, how long do we have to carry on this act?"
"Trust me, it will end very soon."
"Can I still come to your place tonight?"
"No."
"Darling, that’s too cruel!"
"Bear with it."
"..."
Elara glanced at Damon again, tidied her appearance, opened the door, and left.
On the sofa, Damon lowered his gaze to his body, deeply breathed, and shook his head.
What on earth is this woman up to?
Why do this with him?
What is she hiding from him?
He might as well watch for now.
Because at present, he has more important matters to attend to.
He needs to find the real culprits who killed his mother-in-law!
Elara returned to her workstation, ignoring all the various glances thrown her way, and immersed herself in work.
Beep, a message came in on her phone.
Elara glanced at it, surprise flashing in her eyes.
The message was sent by Leia Quinn.
It was her and Craig Landers’ wedding photo.
The two of them actually registered their marriage!
That’s quick!
Elara quickly sent a congratulations emoji back.
"Kiki, congratulations, welcome to the end of your single life."
"Congratulate me, I don’t have a red envelope to give you! Let’s party tonight, let Craig treat us."
Leia sent a message back.
Elara beamed, sending a "good" in reply.
She put down her phone and sighed.
Her best friend was ahead of her.
She really wanted to register her marriage with someone too!
The Miles family.
Evelyn Miles received the news, hearing that Damon Hawke seemingly broke up with Elara Don, a trace of surprise flashed in her eyes.
The two of them were actually breaking up?
True or false?
Evelyn thought for a moment and called Cole Hawke.
Although Cole had said she was no longer his ally, they had at least been allies before.
Cole, being in Hawke Group, must know more, she needed to verify with him.
"Hello."
"Arthur, I heard Damon and Elara broke up? Is it true?"
"Yes, they’ve broken up."
Over the line, Cole’s indifferent voice came through, Evelyn’s eyes lit up, her face filled with delight.
"Really? So sudden? Arthur, was it your idea that made them break up?"
"I said it before, I won’t let them be together."
Cole finished speaking and hung up.
Evelyn wasn’t bothered by Cole’s cold attitude towards her.
Because receiving this news made her ecstatic.
As long as Damon and Elara broke up, she had a chance!
Evelyn’s eyes sparkled, thinking for a while, she dialed Gabriel Miles’ number.
"Uncle, do me a favor."
