Cyberpunk: Ultimate Cyborg System-Chapter 475: Obsidian Armor.
Light flashed through the interior of the nightclub, then a beam pierced its walls. As it reached for the distance, it suddenly shifted, drawing a red line through everything that had come in its path.
Alarms blared, and the beam was suddenly severed. With the gauntlet having overheated, Jaguar extended his left arm, his eyes searching the surroundings. Glimpsing a crimson blur, he whipped his arm in its direction, his hand splitting and snapping back along with the rest of the plating.
RATATATATATATATATATATATATATA!!!
Dust rose as a storm of bullets blasted through the room. A distinct click drew Jaguar’s attention to the right, and he raised his obsidian gauntlet, gathering its fingers into a fist. The air around it shimmered, and a white screen manifested just in time to block a salvo of bullets, all directed at him.
The red blur returned, but by the time he reacted, it was already too late. Jaguar’s vision shifted, and before he knew it, he was smashing through a wall. Closing his left arm, he stabbed it into the ground to stop himself, then let his gauntlet fall.
Same as with his left, his right arm split apart, and a barrel jutted out. This one was three times the size of the first, and so was the projectile it launched. His field of sight turned green, save for two vaguely humanoid red spots. Aiming at the larger one, he braced himself and fired.
The shot shook the entire building, and the recoil jerked his body back. Though it was only a five-centimeter bullet, the impact was that of a tank, and the force it carried could easily split a human in half.
Unsure of whether he hit his target, Jaguar closed his arm and lowered it, equipping the obsidian gauntlet on the floor. He held his left arm up, and a second later, a second gauntlet appeared, instantly wrapping around it. On his NIM, he composed a quick message. Just as he was about to send it, he found himself plunging into a body of water.
Regaining his bearings, he quickly located the intruder and dove straight toward them. He didn’t bother thinking about how strange it was that the bastard had a basic avatar with the appearance of a salmon. Jaguar, on the other hand, was a shark mad entirely from metal, with jaws made to grind bone and rocks.
Catching up with the salmon, he spread those jaws and chomped down on it, instantly crushing it. As soon as he confirmed that the connection had been severed, he swam to the surface and emerged back in the real world. The instant he opened his eyes, he found a fist heading for his face.
Jaguar found himself flying through a wall for the second time. Before his feet could touch the ground, he spread his arms wide and then released white beams from his palms, whipping his arms horizontally.
The white beams cut through the building just as he made it outside. Once again, alarms blared, and he was forced to put down the overheated gauntlets. Already a step ahead, Jaguar held his arms up just as more obsidian pieces followed after him, quickly locking around his body with great precision. The last piece locked around his head, covering even the metallic lower half of his face.
The obsidian suit was nothing short of a masterpiece, and just by looking, one could tell it wasn’t meant to be replicated. Its size was boosted by Jaguar’s large frame, so in reality, it was far more compact and not as bulky as it seemed. The outer shell was stacked with alloy plating that fit together like the scales of a mythical dragon.
The Obsidianovy Drakón. The latest in a series of prototypes of power suits developed by Black Shield, most of which were stolen, smuggled, and sold on the black market.
White line ran through the entire suit like veins pulsing with light. All of them gathered at one spot at the center of the chest plate, where particles of light gathered, quickly coalescing into a single sphere that exploded in size.
Facing the collapsing building, Jaguar clenched his fists and thrust his chest forward. The sphere of light shot out, turning to a much larger beam. The instant it pierced the building, the pressure keeping it contained seemed to vanish, and the energy exploded in every direction, swallowing everything in its path.
As the doom of light spread, Jaguar was in the same spot, letting the shield manifest block the heat and debris from the explosion.
"That’s what I said, you don’t cut it anymore."
The disappointed voice startled the gang boss, his eyes shooting wide under his helmet. Looking to his left, he saw the hairy giant sitting in a car, watching the light show from a short distance away.
"How many people did you have inside?" Henry asked. "Did you even think of what happens to them once you fire that beam?"
As if he hadn’t heard the question, Jaguar thrust both of his hands forward and shot a twin beam. His target was gone before the beams could reach him, or rather, something had manifested in the beam’s path.
Realizing what it was, Jaguar manifested a shield around his suit, but it was too late. White beams, the same white beams shooting out of his hands, struck his right flank, blasting him a dozen meters away. Quickly regaining his balance, he glanced at the spot where he was hit and saw the surface of the obsidian armor shimmer with a faint blue light.
Though the first shield had failed to block the beams, the energy shell coating the obsidian alloy protected him. Even if it didn’t, the allow itself should have been able to withstand the beam.
"You aren’t thinking straight, are you?" Henry said. He was still sitting in the same car. "What did you think would happen after you made that kind of light show?"
The earlier explosion did more than just destroy the building and the club inside it—the resulting fire and smoke were bound to turn into a beacon that would draw in the most problematic bunch in the city.
