Chapter 45: Grand Avalon Academy Dungeon Service Nurses (3)

He turned to them and said, "Perhaps the information circulating about him is incorrect, and he’s been hiding his strength all along."

Tiana slumped back into her seat with her lips wide agape.

James held his forehead and massaged it with both hands.

They were both lost in their own thoughts.

But then, the realisation began to settle in.

Lawrence was no different. But he suppressed his emotions and chuckled at their expressions.

Few things could surprise them.

One of them was receiving a fully paid vacation leave from the Grand Avalon Academy.

The second was Ezekiel stepping out of the dungeon unharmed.

Suddenly, the holographic black curtain that blocked their view phased out of existence.

"You all should act natural. He’s coming this way," Lawrence said.

I unlocked my smartphone to check the merit points I had earned by completing the tasks.

[ Received 1,125 merit points. ]

[ Merits Points: 3,091 ]

A wave of happiness surged through me.

It usually took me more than a week to earn 1,125 merit points.

Now, I had earned it in a single day.

Perhaps only Emily or a few of the other top rankers could earn a massive number of merit points like this within a week on their own.

I switched off my smartphone and placed it back into my pocket.

I noticed three individuals sitting at one of the waiting tables.

A woman with light brown skin, like coffee with cream. Her eyes are bright, warm, and amber-brown. She wore her long-defined curls in a high puff.

A man who bore a slight resemblance to her but had a much richer, deep brown colour, like roasted chestnut, that made his skin look smooth under any lightning. His hair was shorter, with tight coils that were always fresh and faded on the sides. His eyes were more deep brown, almost black.

A faint scar crossed the bridge of his nose.

It was barely noticeable.

But not enough to escape my attention.

A man with light beige skin with neutral undertones. He had pale grey eyes and silky grey hair tied in a low hunter’s tail. His right hand was wrapped up in a white bandage.

They all wore a white navy dress, consisting of a white jacket and trousers with an identity patch on the left side of their chest.

Besides, each of them had a large briefcase.

A sword and shield leaned beside the chair of the man with a scar across his nose.

A whip with a curved, bladed edged at the tip was placed in a tight twisted on the table before the woman who seemed to be his sibling.

Leaning against the concrete wall beside the other last man was a great sword wrapped in a black cloth and bound with interlocking chains.

Instantly, I recognised them.

The Magical Swordsman Department Class Three Dungeon Service Nurse! The Captain, Lawrence. Tiana and James, the group members.

Dungeon services nurses were groups tasked with ensuring students’ safety within the dungeon before they were transported to the hospital wards for proper treatment.

Since they couldn’t enter the dungeon, they had a limitation: they had to wait for a cry of help from students within the dungeon.

This is why students are advised to always work in groups when tackling challenging tasks.

To further mitigate these limitations, the academy frequently graded students based on their strengths and performance within the dungeon, whether individually or collectively, to create a data-driven system that alerted the Dungeon Service Nurses whenever someone or a group undertook tasks that exceeded their capabilities.

Or more challenging tasks, regardless of strength.

The core reason for all of these was because, for some unknown reason, electronics seemed to be thrown into disarray in the presence of mana.

Heart-rate monitor.

Stress monitor.

Pulse oximeter.

The academy had tried everything to ensure students’ safety within the dungeon. But whenever they came close to a dungeon or any place with a concentration of mana, it malfunctioned and collapsing.

This was one of the reasons why the academy was secured correctly and sealed off from the outside world.

To keep magical interference out and in.

According to history, these were the reasons the world easily fell during the emergence of dungeons.

Humanity could not experiment on these magical beasts, items, and many other entities that stepped out of the dungeons. Instead, after the awakening of the Class System, they had to explore these dungeons using their own abilities.

After that, the survivors came together to create fortresses that served as a refuge for the last remaining humans.

These fortresses are scattered across various regions and territories worldwide.

Each of them was sealed off from the others and required physical contact to communicate with one another.

Although they had reached a level where they could integrate magic with machines, achieving a technological breakthrough that far surpassed our previous technological advancements, it still hadn’t reached the point where it was perfect.

Felix’s cybernetic beast form was enough to shock several scientists and researchers, prompting them to rethink entire theories.

I knew they were here for me.

I was barely conscious during most of our encounters. So, although I was more familiar with them than my classmates, it hasn’t reached the extent where we could be considered friends.

I was fortunate, though. If we were truly friends, it would have been easy for them to spot my ongoing transformation.

Their speculations about me were probably similar to those of others, or perhaps even less.

Still, I didn’t ignore them.

I nodded at them as I passed by and exited the door.

I swiftly returned to the boy’s dormitory.

I had a meeting with the dorm supervisor to get an explanation on why he had shared my dorm key with the other students.

Magical Swordsman Boy’s Dorm

The Dorm Supervisor’s Office.

Inside the room was a wooden desk with a screen monitor set on top of it. Several file stacks are stacked on top of each other on the table beside the monitor. Seated behind was a middle-aged man with alabaster skin.

Big-bellied and broad-shouldered.
