Cybernetic Evolution System-Chapter 40: Beastspace And Storage Bags
The magical beast core can also be used to increase an awakener’s strength, or a magical beast’s, or used in alchemy.
For a magical beast, devouring the corpse of another magical beast could increase their strength in the same way, but its core was even more effective.
A magical beast core was one of the ways to identify a magical beast. But only experienced awakeners possessed the knowledge to tell the difference.
Unlike descendants from noble clans, it was common for ordinary students who couldn’t afford to spend on magical beasts’ cores to acquire them from beasts they had killed in the dungeon to increase their strength.
Whereas I, who barely received any support from the Zahara Clan the moment I entered the Grand Avalon Academy, this had been the only way that I could increase my strength before the awakening of my Beastmaster Path and the Cybernectic Evolution system.
I quickly stored away the core and brought out another 3.5-litre tub container to collect another venom.
It took another twenty minutes to fill the tub with the required amount of venom.
At that moment, the remaining venom crystallised around the corpse.
The spilled remains on the ground also crystallised, transforming into a silvery and scarlet glossy surface.
"Pheew!"
I had managed to collect two 3-litre bottles filled with the silver-tongued venom.
I sealed the lid and placed it into my storage bag.
I unsheathed my enchanted iron sword and struck the corpse.
Click!! Only the sound of a blade hitting against solid steel resonated in the air.
I saw a small chip on the surface of the crystallised corpse that I had struck.
After giving it some thought, I decided to use Felix’s strength.
"Felix, come here," I called out.
Felix quickly turned and approached me.
"I want you to cut off its head."
"Understood, master."
While we were training, I noticed more of Felix’s personality. Now that we were completing the task, he seemed more restrained, proving that a cybernetic beast could perform much better than a magical beast that acted based on its instincts.
The Beastmaster needed to train and bond diligently with their tamed magical beast to avoid becoming battle casualties due to a disobedient pet.
I retreated, distancing myself a little to avoid being caught up in his attack.
Felix raised his robotic claws and struck them against the neck of the silver-tongued serpent’s corpse.
Swissh!!
Katchaa! Bang!! 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
The corpse’s head was cleanly cut off from the rest of its body.
There was a deep gnash imprinted on the earth below.
I stepped forward to look at the inner layer of the corpse.
Blood spilt out from within, dying the crystallised portions of its flesh and bones. As expected, it was difficult to collect any more venom after it had crystallised.
Fortunately, this didn’t affect the venom that had already been collected before its crystallisation.
The only way to extract any more was to hand it over to the dungeon hall.
To turn in a completed task, I would only need to bring the core, body, or a vulnerable portion of the slain magical beasts as proof.
The academy was well aware of the uses of the corpse of magical beasts, so they gave us many leeways to utilise them.
I planned on turning in the head to the dungeon hall.
The rest of the corpse could be sold on the black market for merit points.
I didn’t bother taking the corpse of the ordinary creature because it was worthless.
I opened my storage bag and focused it towards the corpse. The space around it compressed, shrinking the serpent’s body and sucking it into the storage space by an invisible force.
The storage bag could only store non-living things; otherwise, I would have captured two or three magical beasts and sold them on the black market...
Suddenly, my mind paused.
I pondered why I hadn’t thought about this previously.
I turned to Felix.
"I’m going to try to store you in this storage bag. Don’t try to resist, okay," I said. "And if you feel anything strange, let me know so I can stop on time."
"Okay, master." Felix nodded.
I directed my storage bag towards Felix.
Instantly, the space around Felix shrank, and he was pulled into the storage bag.
I blinked.
My eyes widened in astonishment.
It worked.
This was a ridiculous plan that I decided to put to the test, but to my shock... it worked!
Surprisingly, I could still communicate with him by thought.
What does this mean?
Beastmasters were restrained by their beastspace. Each beastspace was unique, whether individually or by bloodline.
The more powerful the beastspace, the higher the number of magical beasts that they could sustain.
This was because magical beasts also depended on mana from their surroundings to thrive. They could continue to steadily increase their strength with mana within the beastpace, just as they did outside.
A beastspace passively stored mana from its surroundings for prolonged use. Despite years of research and experimentation, scientists found it challenging to understand the concept surrounding it.
The beastspace was a phenomenon of the Class system.
In most cases, due to the nature of a beastspace in some individuals, it was much better than cultivating a magical beast outside.
Magical beasts with some degree of intelligence understood this and were able to take advantage of this by forming contracts with Beastmasters.
Cybernetic beasts could be classified as non-living things, but they were still barely within the boundary of living things, depending on their nature, according to modern science.
If Felix had been part organic and cybernetic, then I doubted the storage bag would work on him.
I ordered Felix to transform back into his organic self.
Instantly, the space in front of the storage bag twisted, and Felix was expelled from it.
This confirmed my hypothesis.
I could contract magical beasts far exceeding the capacity of my beastspace by storing them within a storage bag.
Imagine the possibilities.
Could I build an entire force composed of cybernetic beasts?
