Chapter 38: Mecha Shift Mode: Swift Horned Panther Jet Form

But this was the second term.

Everyone was aware of the limit of their abilities.

They had also quietly disseminated information about their interaction across the three classes to ensure that no one interfered with their tasks.

Not all top rankers had agreed to this, but they were required to notify at least one person before taking on the task.

As long as the person assigned to the task on the scheduled day was able to resist the person who had requested it, they would naturally retain it. But if they couldn’t, they would have no choice but to forfeit the task.

It would be that they were just unlucky.

The next task would be assigned to the subsequent team.

However, they hadn’t received any information beforehand from either side or the other.

It meant that someone wasn’t willing to obey to rules or...

Toren’s eyes lit up as he arrived at a realisation.

He couldn’t help but ponder if someone had purposely taken their task to target them.

He shifted his gaze to Jaran.

News of Jaran’s defeat must have already travelled around the academy, so it wouldn’t be impossible for someone to take advantage of the situation by taking on their tasks for themselves.

Jaran’s expression turned solemn. He noticed Toren’s frosty gaze and realised that they had both arrived at the same conclusion.

Riven also concluded similarly.

They could only blame one individual for their current dilemma.

The Worst One.

Jaran gritted his teeth in anger.

"Let’s pick the task and head out immediately. It hasn’t been completed yet, so there’s a chance that we might encounter them and complete the task before them?" He said, his gaze became sharp like a sword coated in a layer of frost.

"I’m really curious to uncover the identity of who wants to humiliate me."

Toren nodded and quickly picked the tasks and a few others that they had also planned to undertake.

"Student IDs for confirmation," the robot said.

The three of them brought out their student IDs and placed them on the table.

Beep!! Beep!!

"Scan completed. I wish you good luck on your adventure, student Jaran, Toren, and Riven," the robot said respectfully.

All three of them ignored the robot as they quickly walked through the door and headed towards the dungeon.

Back in the Training Dungeon Hall, Zone 2...

After summoning Felix, I quickly activated [Mecha Shift Mode: Swift Horned Panther Jet].

Felix’s transformation was swift.

On each of his four limbs were segmented, thrusters that flared fiercely, emitting bluish arcs of light.

From his spine, four hover wings had extended, their edges resembling blades of light, tinged with a bluish glow. His metallic tail flittered through the air behind him like a whip.

Lastly, his signature horn, made of a razor-edged metallic alloy with sparks of electricity arched between them, remained the same.

His size remained unchanged.

Felix now bore a slight resemblance to the fighter jets of my former life, in the form of a four-legged jet panther.

I sat between his light, forged wings.

Status.

All his skills remained the same except for [Nano-Blade Claws], which was greyed out. It couldn’t be used in this form.

I had expected that after Felix’s transformation, he would acquire more skills, but it seems that I was trying to bite more than I could chew.

The fact that he could still utilise a majority of his skills was something for which I realised I needed to be grateful.

While we got used to his transformation, I realised something astonishing.

Felix’s skills were upgrading very quickly.

A magical beast’s skills were classified into four stages: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, and lastly, Perfection.

It took decades for an average magical beast to train its skills to achieve perfection. They completely refined their skills once they reached adulthood, while others, who were more talented, achieved a similar result earlier.

Felix had achieved the same results in just a few minutes. Every moment he trained, his proficiency increased by 50%.

I soon understood the reason.

Felix was a cybernetic beast with an intellectual capacity far surpassing that of any magical creature. He could freely control his mechanical body, down to its nuts and bolts.

So, it was easy for him to grasp the essence of his skills quickly.

I couldn’t let go of such an opportunity, so I placed the task and commanded Felix to train until his skills had reached perfection.

Felix was also willing to do so, as it benefited him as well.

After that, I changed his transformation back to the normal Swift-horned panther form.

His skills had only improved by a single stage.

To my surprise, as though the activities of his cybernetic self were deeply ingrained in him, his skills rapidly improved by 10 per cent as he trained.

As someone who grew up in a clan known for its powerful beastmasters, I was aware of the challenges that emerged from training magical beasts. So, I couldn’t help but be excited by this development.

However, I couldn’t afford to delay on my task any longer, so I quickly activated Felix’s [Cybernetic Swift-Horned Panther] and switched to [Mecha Shift Mode: Swift Horned Panther Jet].

We swiftly scouted the direction where the silver-tongued serpent was rumoured to be frequently sighted.

Several minutes later, we finally found it.

The silver-tongued serpent was covered in silvery scales that gleamed under the radiant sun filtering through the thick verdant forest. It was approximately 3 meters (10 feet) in diameter and 15 meters (49 feet) long.

It was as thick as the girth of an elephant’s leg with the length of a professional basketball court.

Just like common animals, even magical beasts of the same rank varied in size and strength.
