’seems like I’ll need to test out Morph later,’ I thought as I opened the system interface.

I couldn’t help but smile after looking over my stats. ’If I grow another year or two, maybe the system will finally allow me to start adding more points to my attribute’s.’

Still, the EXP gain was... slow. No—painfully slow. I thought

Then again, I reminded myself, ’I’m only four years old. Apart from the meditation technique that gives me EXP every week, the system barely offers any daily tasks. Is it because I’m still growing?’

I wasn’t exactly happy about it, but I wasn’t angry either. This wasn’t some game where I could just grind endlessly. This was real life.

I glanced at my stats once more.

’Leveling up at this pace is a pain in the ass, I admitted silently, but the system probably needs my body to mature before allowing any sudden growth or drastic changes.’

With that, I closed the interface. No point overthinking it.

’Time to earn some money.’ I thought as I remembered I still had to deliver the stalk of vegetables to aunt Lilith.

I stared at the forest ahead of me and dashed inside.

The moment I activated Cursed Eyes, my vision shifted. A crimson glow flooded my sight as the world transformed into shades of light red. Living beings revealed themselves as flickering lifeforces—bright, pulsing lights against the dull background.

The stronger the lifeforce, the bigger and brighter it shone.

Between my enhanced sight, nose, and ears, nothing could really hide from me. Humans, animals, even plants underground—I could distinguish them all.

And right now, I was looking for something very specific.

’Veggies.’

I didn’t need to wander aimlessly. My senses immediately picked up the familiar scent I had memorized long ago. If I wanted to, I could have hunted a monster instead—but explaining how a four-year-old managed that would have been a nightmare, and definitely no joking matter.

With my speed, I was probably the fastest child alive. As I ran, animals barely noticed my presence. Only the rustling leaves and the sudden gusts of wind betrayed that something had just passed through.

’I could collect more,’ I thought, slowing down slightly. ’But if I’m gone too long, Mother and my big sisters will worry.’

Thirty minutes was all it took to sweep through my usual section of the forest.

Less than twenty minutes later, I had gathered between ten and twenty fresh stalks of vegetables.

As I headed back toward Aunt Lilith’s house, my greed and reason began arguing in my head.

’Dammit! Why didn’t I collect everything? What if someone else stumbles on it and harvests them first? 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺

They might even sell them and profit off my discovery!

If it weren’t for those damn villagers, I would be filthy rich by now.’

By the time I reached her door, I had calmed down enough to hide my excitement behind my usual "innocent child" act. I took a few steady breaths before knocking.

When Aunt Lilith opened the door, she was already fuming. The moment she saw my carefully crafted innocent expression, her irritation visibly spiked.

That is—until I held out the fresh stalks with a bright smile.

Whatever lecture she had prepared before hand—something along the lines of "I will teach you to respect your elders"—died in her throat.

"...How did you get that?" she asked, still stunned, her sharp eyes scanning my face as if expecting a ridiculous lie.

"From my family’s farm," I said smoothly, lying straight through my teeth.

She stared at me. Then at the vegetables. Then back at me.

"Oh. I get it now," she muttered. "Your father wouldn’t let you wander outside unless you stole from his farm. That explains everything."

"Good gods... what a child."

She ruffled my long gray hair with a sigh before disappearing inside. When she returned, she held out twenty copper coins.

Before she could even finish stretching her arm, I snatched them at lightning speed.

Her sarcastic remark completely missed me. At that moment, my world consisted of nothing but shiny copper.

I quickly counted them—twenty, added to my previous stash, making thirty in total.

That’s when I noticed she had frozen.

Her eyes were wide, mouth slightly open, and her hand was still awkwardly stretched out.

I gently shook it.

"Thank you very much, Aunt Lilith."

I took off running before she could respond, my heart pounding with euphoria. The villagers’ snorts and scorn didn’t bother me in the slightest.

Halfway home, a sudden thought struck me.

I skidded to a stop and changed direction.

I stood alone in the forest, wearing short brown pants and a worn-out t-shirt. My gray hair slowly darkened, shifting into a lighter shade of black. The strange eye-like dots on my cheekbones faded, replaced by smooth tan skin.

My face twisted and reshaped itself—white, ebony, and finally settling into a natural tan.

I smiled as I stared at the system interface hovering before me.
