Cursed System-Chapter 28: Men in black and Cursed Intimidation
Outside, the winter wind howled. The knocking continued, steady and insistent.
I knew it wasn’t my parents.
I stared at the door, my chest tight with unease.
Gustav reached the doorpost, turned back, and made a mocking face at me before opening it.
The moment the door creaked open, I felt his body stiffen.
His breathing quickened. His eyes widened in shock.
Whatever that stood on the other side— surely wasn’t what he had been expecting.
In the next few seconds, I saw Gustav reel backward as the door was slowly pushed open. After a brief pause, two men dressed in black hooded robes stepped inside.
One of them scanned the room calmly before speaking to the other.
"Hm. Seems the information was accurate. There’s likely no one else in the house."
I could feel the atmosphere change instantly.
Gustav’s breathing grew erratic. Even from my cradle, I could sense his fear as the two men spoke to each other like they owned the place.
His mind must have been racing—Who are these people? What do they want?
At first, he must have thought my parents had returned. But the figures standing before him were nothing like my father or mother. They were tall—much taller than him—and wrapped in rough black clothing, their hoods concealing most of their faces.
The longer Gustav stared, the more terrified he became. There was something deeply wrong about them. I could feel it too.
Gustav stood frozen, fists clenched, eyes wide. His body screamed at him to run, but fear had rooted him to the ground. His legs trembled uncontrollably, and a dark stain slowly spread across his shorts.
I had already recognized them as humans the moment my Cursed Eyes were activated. For a split second, I thought about crying to alert someone—but who would hear me?
Oge was asleep, and Gustav was useless. We were alone.
Why hadn’t my parents returned yet?
A hoarse voice echoed from the doorway, snapping me back to reality. I watched Gustav stagger backward, his face pale, his body completely paralyzed by fear.
The day had already been bad. Elina and John weren’t home. And now, strangers had appeared instead of my family. My mind spiraled.
How do I protect myself? How do I protect Oge?
Everyone who could help was gone. I was the only one thinking clearly—yet I felt utterly powerless. My anxiety climbed higher with every passing second. I couldn’t even think of an escape.
Then a muffled voice cut through the room.
"Where is the cursed child?"
My heart sank.I lifted my head slightly and saw Gustav collapse onto the floor, shaking uncontrollably. Then one of the men raised his arm and pointed directly at me.
"Are you sure the cursed child is inside?"
Thanks to the all tongue starter pack from the system their words were instantly translated to me. There was no misunderstanding. They were here for me.
The two men stepped fully inside, and an eerie silence filled the room. Their heavy footsteps and dark robes made the space feel smaller, suffocating.
"Hm, truly a cursed child," one of them said coldly. "Just as hideous as they described."
I finally understood, I wasn’t mistaken, they wanted me.
Confusion clashed with fear. Yes, I knew I looked strange—any baby with my eyes would—but what had I done? Had they discovered my secret? Did they somehow know I wasn’t just a normal cursed child?
"Cursed child," one of them continued, his voice dripping with hatred.
"The moment you were born into this world, you sealed your fate. Today, we will erase you. No one is coming to save you—so feel free to hate us."
Gustav broke into a cold sweat just from hearing those words.
Then one of the men pulled out a black knife.
At that moment, my mind went completely blank.
I forgot about my skills. I forgot about my abilities. Fear drowned out everything else. I couldn’t think straight. I couldn’t move.
My world felt like it was collapsing all over again.
I was helpless.Once more, I was alone—no one would know how I died or who killed me. The feeling was terrifyingly familiar, just like back on Earth, when death had come suddenly and mercilessly.
And this time...
I didn’t know if I could escape it.
___
Even with two pairs of eyes, anyone would look hideous—no exception, not even me. But what had I done wrong? Had they already discovered that I was a reincarnated man trapped in a baby’s body?
"Cursed Child. The moment you decided to come into this world was the day you signed your death warrant to us. Today, we’ll erase you from existence. Go on—hate us if you want. No one is coming to save you."
The words came from one of the figures in a black robe. His voice dripped with contempt, and the coldness in his eyes alone was enough to make my body tremble.
I was quivering on the cradle, cold sweat soaking into my skin. Then they pulled out a black sack.
At that moment, I subconsciously forgot every skill and ability I possessed—abilities I could have tested on them. Fear had invaded my mind so suddenly and completely that I could barely think straight.
My world felt like it was crumbling.
Once again, I was helpless. Completely alone. No one would ever know how I died—or who killed me.
What could I even do? It was just like back on Earth, I could do nothing but watch myself die.
Was it really a crime to be born abnormal? What exactly was my sin? Being born into this world? Aside from exposing my secret, what other option did I have?
Rage began to boil inside me. It gnawed at me like a swarm of locusts, snapping me out of the verge of tears and into a fury I never thought I could feel.
’You’re really acting tough, taunting a child, huh?’
I could almost see the smug grins hidden beneath their hoods as they stepped closer—stopping just half a step away from my cradle. It felt like an adult telling a terrifying story to a helpless child.
My anger surged, overflowing like a dam about to burst.
’I hate you. You damn bastards. You’re nothing but filthy animals. I hope you all die cruel deaths someday.’
I had already accepted that I was going to die. Knowing there was no hope, I wanted to release everything I had buried deep inside me—every ounce of frustration, hatred, and despair.
Still, despite all of that, I was terrified.
I had already experienced the agony of dying once before, and I didn’t want to go through it again.
That was when it happened.
A series of notifications suddenly appeared in my line of sight.
[Cursed One emotion has reached threshold—Activating ’Threat Mechanism’!]
[Fear status: Compromised!]
[’Cursed Menace’ shall grow!]
[Cursed Intimidation: Activated!]
My vision blurred instantly, replaced by an excruciating, stabbing pain in both pairs of my eyes. Red veins pulsed violently within them, throbbing like living organs.
The beating grew faster and faster.
It felt as if all the blood in my body was rushing toward my eyes.
The pain was unbearable. I tried my best not to scream, but it was becoming harder by the second. The sensation spread, drowning out everything else.
I barely noticed that something inside my eyes was swelling—radiating power as mana overflowed uncontrollably from my core.
I clenched my fists.
And then something unexpected happened.
"What the hell is happening?!"
Both black-robed figures shouted in shock. Their voices trembled as they stared at my four eyes—the eyes of the so-called cursed Child—now emitting a blinding radiance.
Seconds passed.
Cold sweat drenched them as they found themselves unable to look away. The light wasn’t frightening... yet the more they stared, the more impossible it became to stop, like an abyss staring back at them.
Their heartbeats slowed. Their bodies shook uncontrollably.
It was unlike anything they had ever experienced.
Soon, the radiance stopped intensifying. Instead, it gradually faded away.
But as it disappeared, their bodies grew even weaker. The trembling worsened.
As for me, the sudden surge of power was too much. My consciousness slipped away, and I collapsed on my cradle, completely spent.
The black-robed men remained frozen, their bodies trembling as an inexplicable terror gripped them. Their minds and pounding hearts felt tightly strung, paralyzed by a fear so deep it drained all their strength.
Finally, their trembling soon legs gave out.
They fell heavily onto the wooden floor trembling non stop, as they landed hard on their backsides with a loud, echoing thud.
