Chapter 339: 202. Respect for the elderly and the wise Lei Chongyun

After his outburst of rage, Tu Dong quickly regained his composure.

In Tu Dong’s eyes, the Cultivation Strength of Liu Xun and Gu Ying, who were from the Upper Three Heavens, might not have amounted to much. However, they held significant weight among the Middle Three Heavens Cultivators, as both had been nurtured by forces on par with the Witchcraft Sect’s Sacred Land.

Now, they had both died at someone else’s hand—an ill omen. Who could be sabotaging my plans?

Tu Dong frowned. The vast Blood Sea expanded, enveloping the surroundings of Ox Soul Mountain and stretching across both banks of the Yu River.

Lei Jun had halted his advance much earlier and was still quite distant from Ox Soul Mountain, unworried about being immediately detected. Besides, Tu Dong likely wouldn’t have the time to concern himself with Lei Jun.

In another part of the sky, a tiny black dot suddenly shot up. It seemed to flicker for just a moment, but in the blink of an eye, it grew larger and drew nearer, arriving in the vicinity of Ox Soul Mountain.

The newcomer was clad in armor and brandished a sharp spear, bearing the appearance of a general from the Great Tang Divine Strategy Army. It was Shangguan Peng, the new-generation leader of the Great Tang’s Shangguan Clan, whom Lei Jun had previously seen on Dragon Tiger Mountain.

He arrived above the Blood Sea and stood firm. Billowing waves of energy surged outwards, parting the Blood Sea to create a clear space. Only then did the sound of his passage tearing through the distant sky finally arrive.

"Tu Dong, as Wei Ancheng’s confidant, you must know a great deal about his affairs," Shangguan Peng stated expressionlessly, gripping his spear as he closed in on Tu Dong.

As if he had found the answer to his own question, Tu Dong laughed out of extreme anger. "All I know is that today, you’re going to bleed!"

The surging Blood Sea instantly blotted out the sky as it swept towards Shangguan Peng.

As the youngest Seventh Layer of Heaven Realm expert in the Shangguan Clan, Shangguan Peng remained unfazed. He thrust his spear forward. It lacked an overtly terrifying presence and showed no signs of Spiritual Energy or Mana fluctuations.

Only the very tip of the spear emitted a faint, dim light, not dazzling but rather obscure. Yet, that single obscure point cleaved through the tempestuous Blood Sea, aiming directly at Tu Dong in its center.

Unflustered, Tu Dong effortlessly summoned the Blood River Sect’s Heavy Waves of Blood Surge. Mountainous, layered waves stirred and pressed forward.

Shangguan Peng ignored the Blood Sea’s transformations, his gaze fixed solely on Tu Dong. The tip of his spear seemed to cut through all obstacles, as if it were invincible. It relentlessly pierced through layer after layer of blood waves, continuing its thrust towards his opponent.

Finally, it struck its target!

Tu Dong’s chest was pierced by the spearhead, yet his movements didn’t stop. His body seemed to dissolve into a quagmire of flesh and blood. Then, it formed an immense suction force, as if to drag Shangguan Peng into an abyss.

Simultaneously, multiple Tu Dongs materialized within the Blood Sea. Existing through the Sea’s power, they brandished blades and attacked Shangguan Peng from all directions. The radiance of their blades resembled numerous winding Blood Rivers. At this moment, it was as if a hundred rivers flowed into the sea, all converging on a single point.

Shangguan Peng, the target of this convergence, showed no intention of withdrawing his spear to defend. Instead, he pressed forward. His spear tip fiercely shredded the vortex of flesh before him, and he charged straight through it. This charge allowed him to deftly evade the encircling assault of the numerous Blood Rivers.

The Blood Rivers pursued Shangguan Peng from the sides and rear. However, after bursting through, he stopped abruptly, spun around, and executed a devastating counter-thrust with his spear.

The spear tip’s aura finally changed. The dim light suddenly dispersed, and in an instant, myriad spear shadows materialized, arrayed like a grand army unleashed! This was the Shangguan Clan’s profound legacy technique: Thousand Army Movement.

The forest of spear tips shattered numerous blood-red lights, riddling the vast Blood Sea with countless holes. Each formidable spear tip harbored the power to destroy all things. Wherever they passed, large swathes of the thick, filthy Blood Sea evaporated and were obliterated.

Tu Dong himself, residing within the Blood Sea, was also punctured by the spear tips, which instantly created dozens of bloody holes in his body. However, this form of Tu Dong promptly collapsed into a puddle of blood, dissolving once more.

In the distant mid-air, a blood-red vortex materialized out of thin air. From the spinning center of the vortex, Tu Dong’s upper body re-emerged and rose.

Witnessing this, both Lei Jun, observing from afar, and Shangguan Peng, facing Tu Dong directly, had the same name flash through their minds: Blood Sea Nirvana.

It was a Divine Skill that only Blood River Sect Cultivators of the Upper Three Heavens could master. Mastery of this technique granted an effect akin to cheating death and achieving rebirth.

However, it was evident that executing this Divine Skill had also greatly drained Tu Dong’s Mana. His face was pale, as if he had suffered severe blood loss.

However, Shangguan Peng was in an even worse condition. Although Shangguan Peng’s forceful blow had wiped out a vast expanse of the Blood Sea, his body was now unavoidably stained with large patches of contaminated blood.

Ideally, he should have immediately followed up with another spear thrust as Tu Dong re-emerged from the vortex, giving his enemy no chance to recover. But in reality, Shangguan Peng’s entire body was simmering with fiery vital energy, like a volcano. This burning vital energy constantly worked to purify and clear the contaminated blood clinging to him, only then allowing him to take further action.

This was the case even for Martial Arts Practitioners, whose power was concentrated within their bodies, making them internally and externally clear and less susceptible to contamination by the blood. Otherwise, his reckless charges would have led to him being corroded by the filth much earlier. Of course, Cultivators from other sects would most likely not employ such a forceful and reckless approach.

Now, Tu Dong, disregarding his own compromised state, attacked Shangguan Peng once more. Shangguan Peng momentarily shifted from his previous aggressive tactics, switching from offense to defense. He focused on fending off his opponent’s attacks while simultaneously working to purge the contaminated blood from his body.

Although younger than Tu Dong, Shangguan Peng possessed rich combat experience. His reactions to every detail were exquisitely precise, not inferior in the slightest to the seasoned Blood River Sect Elder Tu Dong.

Tu Dong’s earlier gambit with his Blood Sea Nirvana had been intended to trade it for an injury on his opponent. However, Shangguan Peng’s meticulous handling had saved him from being injured by Tu Dong’s counterattack; his only setback was being stained by the corrupted blood.

Although currently at a disadvantage, Shangguan Peng’s disciplined defense remained robust.
