Chapter 129: Chapter 128: The Winner

Li Hui’s weapon has proven itself against the other three competitors in the previous round. Now everyone is waiting to see whether the level five would live up to its name, or if the level is just a fluke.

Li Cheng and Li Yanlin stand in the ring facing each other.

"It’s time to show me what you’ve got, cousin." Li Yanlin said with a bit of arrogance in his voice.

Li Cheng wanted to ask who’s your cousin? But he didn’t want to waste any more time with this guy.

"Don’t worry, this won’t be much of a match." Li Cheng sneered

"Isn’t it strange that we both have the same surname?" Li Yanlin didn’t take Li Cheng’s attitude to heart and asked with a smile.

Li Cheng frowned: "It’s just a coincidence, why does it matter?"

Li Yanlin nodded: "You’re right, after all, Li is a very common surname."

"Ready?" Instructor Gao raised his hand and signaled the start of the match.

With a swift movement, Li Yanlin surged forward, his sword slicing through the air with heavy momentum. Li Cheng also dashed forward at the same time , countering the other’s strike. The clang of metal echoed as the swords met, sending sparks flying in all directions.

After that one move, Yanlin froze in place with disbelief in his eyes. His sword actually broke! It’s not that he didn’t expect this to happen, but not so soon!

Li Yanlin sighs regrettably: "It’s as you said, this wasn’t much of a match."

Li Yanlin took a step back and bowed to Li Cheng before exiting the ring.

He looked at his brother apologetically. Li Hui shook his head and hurried to his brother.

"It wasn’t your fault. Thank you for your hard work. I will try my best to make better weapons in the future."

"Don’t overthink it, you already did great." Li Yanlin rubs his brother’s hair lovingly: "To think that it was just yesterday that you were scribbling on a piece of paper."

"Come on, don’t tease me."

Li Yanlin chuckled softly. Winning or losing was nothing to him as long as his brother is happy, he can go to any length.

It took a while for Instructor Gao to react to what had happened: "Oh, it all happened in a blink of an eye. Unfortunately, Li Hui’s sword was broken to pieces within one strike. Li Hui has lost the match and is currently placed second. The winner of this challenge is Li Juanxin! Everyone gives a big round of applause to them!"

The crowd erupted in cheers, but some of them weren’t satisfied. They didn’t doubt the strength of the level five sword, but Li Hui’s level two sword has fought too many battles today. In their opinion, the sword was exhausted and could have performed better under different circumstances.

"What a waste. I was expecting something more exciting."

"The level 2 sword is already exhausted. It couldn’t withstand a blow from level 5."

"Isn’t that obvious? I wonder who came up with this arrangement!"

"It was done for fair play, but this didn’t showcase the level 5 potential at all."

Instructor Ye walk upfront to Instructor Gao and make a proposal:

"How about we use other low level 5 spirit swords, against this one? Just to satisfy the crowd’s curiosity. Even if Li Juanxin’s sword doesn’t win, it won’t affect the outcome."

Instructor Gao considered the suggestion, his brow furrowing as he weighed the implications. To be honest, he also wanted to see more. If a level 1 weapon that upgraded to level 5 through Inscription engravement wins against an original level 5 weapon, that would be beyond exciting!

"That might work, but we have to ensure fairness. The crowd deserves a clear illustration of each sword’s capabilities." He turned to the other instructors, who nodded in agreement.

With a wave of his hand, he gestured for the nearby attendants to bring forth a few level 5 weapons in the warehouse: "Let’s see how well these others hold up against our champion’s blade."

The audience screamed with excitement. Just to be fair, it was both of the instructors that were testing the weapon.

Instructor Gao held Li Juanxin’s sword while instructor Ye used the others to attack.

"Here we go!" Instructor Gao called out.

A moment later, the clash of metal echoed as the blades met with a harsh screech. After a few exchanges, the sword in instructor Ye’s hand broke, he excitedly picked another and continued the match.

The crowd roared in disbelief.

"That’s it, come on, show us more."Someone yelled above their lung

"Good! Let’s keep count of how many get shattered!"

Each break intensified the atmosphere. This school doesn’t have any refining or weapon craftsmanship. Everyone was so absorbed that they forgot they were damaging school supplies and that the head master would be very angry once he found out.

Yet, in the heat of the moment, no one cares about the consequences.

The sound of shattering blades filled the air. The more weapons broke, the more instructor Ye’s eyes gleamed with determination.

After six level 5 weapons were destroyed, he directly took out a sword from his possession. He swung fiercely, sparks flew as the swords clashed. After what felt like forever, the sword in instructor Gao’s hand finally broke.

"Wow, it’s finally damaged!"

Instructor Gao stepped back, a mixture of surprise and admiration on his face.

The crowd exploded into wild applause.

"That’s incredible!" someone shouted, while another added, "Li Juanxin’s sword truly is formidable!"

"What’s incredible is not the sword but his Inscription skills!"

"That sword in your hand..." Instructor Gao looks at instructor Ye speechlessly.

Instructor Ye looked at the sword in his hands and was stunned. In the moment of excitement, he actually took out a level 7 sword. Although it was also a low level weapon, it was still two levels ahead.

Instructor Ye held the back of his head, feeling a bit embarrassed.

"It was all in good fun."

The three winners stand on the winner platform. Li Juanxin, first place, Li Hui second place, and He Zhihao third place.

They were all presented with their rewards. They all received honor badges, and Academy contribution points. Their names were posted on the academy ranking board under the Inscription category. Li Juanxin received an extra reward of a Spirit Engraving Brush.

After school, the Li brothers were waiting for their father to pick them up.

"You did great today, Xin. I’m very proud of you, and I’m sure Dad would be too." Li Cheng said giving his brother a hug

"It’s all thanks to you, third brother. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have known what to do." Li Juanxin said shyly, a blush creeping onto his cheeks. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎

Li Cheng chuckled, ruffling Li Juanxin’s hair affectionately: "Forget about those small details. The important thing is that among us seven brothers, you’re the first person with achievements."

"Thanks, third brother. But I couldn’t have done it without your help. Speaking of which, your birthday is in two weeks, I’m going to give you a good present!" He said looking up at Li Cheng with earnest eyes.

"Oh really? I forgot."

"How can you forget about your own birthday? You can’t be such a careless third brother!" Li Juanxin pouted

During their birthday, their father was sick and he wasn’t nice to them yet. During the birthday of his first and second brother, they were still at the Yan family home.

Luckily, his third and fourth brothers were born in the last month of the year so the chance to celebrate is very high. Unexpectedly, his third brother actually forgot about his own birthday, how is this acceptable?!

Li Cheng laughed: "You’re right, I was careless. But with everything that’s happened, it’s hard to keep track."

Li Juanxin was in deep thoughts and didn’t seem to be listening to him. Li Cheng sighed and asked:

"What are you thinking about?"

"I’m still deciding what to get for you, but it has to be something meaningful."

Li Cheng felt warm in his chest: "Whatever you choose, I’m sure I’ll love it. Just promise not to spend beyond your limit."

"Believe it or not, I’m the second richest man in the family next to Daddy. I get mine and Fluffy allowance every weekend and I also get paid for being a little delivery man." Li Juanxin patted his chest boastfully

"Wait, Fluffy also gets an allowance?"

Li Cheng was surprised. He didn’t expect the fox to receive an allowance every weekend like them. Does this mean Li Yujian’s pet Shiny also received an allowance?!

Li Juanxin seemed to know what Li Cheng was thinking and nodded: "Fluffy allowance is half the amount of mine. That fox eats a lot, I can’t afford to splash out too much of my money for him. So Dad decided to give it’s own money, and yes, Shiny, that proud snake also get allowance."

If everyone is getting allowance including the pets, then his father is really richer than he thought. It took Li Cheng a long time to digest the information. So, once Li Zhang’s eager hash out, he would also be given double allowance!

A familiar flying carriage came into view, the brothers exit the school gate and enter the carriage.
