Chapter 313: Chapter 281: Expansion and Deepening of Law

The heavy wooden door of the office gently closed, isolating the somewhat nervous yet striving-to-maintain-composure figure of the young junior outside.

Inside, the unique atmosphere of solitude mixed with piled knowledge resumed.

Professor Clark’s gaze remained on the complex Energy Structure diagram, his quill unconsciously tapping a node as he casually broke the silence:

"That little fellow Viola... it seems she has taken a new step in the Law aspect."

Hearing this, Jeming was momentarily stunned, temporarily suppressing the subtle feelings brought by the young junior, and looked at the mentor in puzzlement: "Hmm? Mentor, why do you say so?"

Clark finally lifted his eyelids slightly, shifting his gaze from the drawing to Jeming.

His tone was flat yet confident: "Although she likes to fool around, she’s essentially an efficiency-oriented person and rarely engages in purely meaningless pranks."

"This time she specifically made you come to find me, probably... to use your reaction to verify some new changes in her mastery of the Laws."

He paused for a moment, then added: "If you have doubts, why not contact her now and ask? That girl is probably waiting."

Jeming found this reasonable and activated the communicator again.

The light screen lit up, and the figure of Senior Sister Viola appeared immediately, her face adorned with a wily smile that Jeming was familiar with.

Before Jeming could ask, she preemptively spoke:

"Yo, Junior... judging by the background behind you, it seems you’ve already reached the mentor’s place. How is it, after being pranked a little by your senior sister, do you feel... hmm?"

She deliberately elongated her tone, scrutinizing Jeming’s expression.

Then she pursed her lips, showing some disappointment: "Tsk, as calm as always. Not a bit of pain or anger after being teased, how boring! I wanted to gather some data!"

As Jeming listened to her words, a trace of puzzlement arose in his heart.

Senior Sister Viola’s wording and tone seemed to imply that she now could actively "manipulate" or "require" the anger of others?

Could the emotions she controls extend beyond just Pain?

Moreover, this time the influence didn’t seem to require close contact to take effect?

Professor Clark, noticing Jeming’s confusion, set down the quill and explained in his usual knowledge-sharing serene tone:

"For a Sixth Level Wizard wishing to ascend to the Seventh Level, the core is in constructing a deeper level of the complete Laws they control. There are primarily two directions."

"The first is expansion." Clark stretched out his bony finger, drawing a horizontal line in the air, "That is, expanding the coverage scope of the Laws horizontally. For example, if you initially control only the ’Temperature’ Law, you can try to expand to the higher-order ’Energy’ Law, or even the ’Fire Element’ Law."

"Those who go far can make the effect manner of their Laws more... conceptual and abstract, no longer confined to specific forms."

"The second is deepening." His finger moved down vertically, "That is, under the premise of not changing the scope of the Law itself, to elevate the manipulation depth and precision of the Laws vertically."

"For instance, one might not need to act directly on the target but could exert influence on an event strongly related to the target, leveraging the threads of destiny to indirect, more covertly trigger the Laws."

Hearing this, Jeming’s eyes lit up with understanding.

So that explains it, but it seems Senior Sister Viola’s abilities might involve signs of both of these directions.

"Senior Sister," Jeming curiously turned to the light screen, "Which direction have you chosen?"

On the other side of the light screen, Viola straightened up immediately, her face full of the spirit of "praise me," and proudly announced: "Hmph! As a genius destined to be renowned in wizardry history, of course, I choose—both!"

"Nonsense!" Professor Clark reprimanded with a hint of sternness, "The path of Laws requires solid steps and gradual progress! The adage ’biting off more than one can chew’—do I still need to teach you?"

However, Jeming keenly noticed a nearly imperceptible trace of... satisfaction hidden in what seemed to be words of reproach from his mentor.

He instantly understood that Professor Clark was not truly opposed but was reminding Viola in his own way not to advance too hastily.

After all, among wizards of the same level, the gap in strength often lies in the breadth and depth of knowledge understanding.

A wizard capable of balancing both "expansion" and "deepening" of Laws undoubtedly possesses broader potential and greater combat strength.

"Jeming." Professor Clark’s gaze shifted to him, his tone rarely carrying a hint of caution, "In the wizard path, it’s valuable to have self-awareness, and acting within one’s ability is a virtue."

"But remember, do not understate yourself, creating self-imposed limitations. Do not let the advancement speed of others disrupt your own pace. If indeed there is leeway, strive to refine yourself to the utmost in every stage, solidifying your foundation... this will greatly benefit your future path." 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

These words were like a morning bell and evening drum, striking deeply in Jeming’s heart.

He solemnly straightened up, respectfully bowing: "I shall remember your teachings, mentor."

"As for you..." Clark turned his head to look at Viola in the light screen.

"I didn’t expect you to reach this point in just under three hundred years. I initially thought your previous impetuousness would have stalled you for a long time, seems like... you’re more planned than I anticipated."

Viola accepted Clark’s compliment with pride: "Of course, as I’ve said, I am a genius!"

"Since so, our genius should be able to repay the debt you owe me soon, right?"

With Clark’s words, Viola’s expression instantly fell: "Ahem... well then... oh dear, I suddenly remembered there’s an experiment I haven’t finished yet, I’ll take my leave!"

With that, the communication light screen dissipated into a virtual shadow, evidently Viola had directly hung up the call.

As the conversation seemed to conclude, Jeming too bid farewell to Professor Clark, not wanting to disturb his continued research.

However, just as he turned to leave, Professor Clark, without lifting his head, as if speaking to himself, abruptly said:

"Good luck at the new academy, may your appointment go smoothly."

Jeming froze mid-step, turning back in surprise to look at the mentor who was still engrossed in writing.

He wanted to say something, but Professor Clark merely waved his hand casually.

The pre-set Teleportation Array in the office activated instantly, its gentle yet irresistible spatial waves enveloping Jeming.

The next moment, his form vanished from the document- and instrument-strewn office, directly teleported to the plaza outside the academy.

Standing outside the familiar tower, gazing at its towering spire, Jeming paused for a moment in contemplation.

Finally, he shook his head with a smile, boarded the Teleportation Array, and departed from there.
