Criminal X : Epitome Of Evil-Chapter 573: He Who Slaughtered Innocence
Seraphim was free of evil now.
Pablo was sure of it.
So he asked the Gods for his three wishes to be fulfilled as the Gods had made a contract with him that if Pablo managed to cure evil from Seraphim and restore all the five Gods who had died because of no believers, the Gods would fulfill his three wishes.
But when Pablo asked them to do it, the king of Gods, Altor, said that Pablo's job wasn't done yet.
He hadn't eradicated all the evil from the world yet.
Pablo didn't understand and asked Altor what evil was left now?
At that, Altor turned serious and said:
"You."
Pablo raised his brows. "I am the last evil left?"
Altor nodded with a sigh.
"You told us that your first victim was you. And now the last evil of Seraphim is also you."
Pablo went silent.
Cupid looked at Alfida and Alfida simply raised her shoulders. She couldn't do anything about that.
The angel clenched her fist and in silence, in the amidst of all the Gods, for the first time…
"That's not right."
She raised her voice.
All heads turned towards her.
"Do you want to say something, angel?" Altor asked.
Cupid took a deep breath and bowed.
"Yes. I want to say something."
Altor gestured. "Go on."
Cupid readied herself, gathered strength and stepped forward.
Pablo also stared at her as he didn't know what she would say.
Cupid summoned courage from her heart and began…
"Pablo Castillo is now a changed man."
Pablo's brows shot up.
He paid attention to Cupid.
The Gods did the same and Cupid carried on.
"Pablo gave back the slaves their freedom. He did not kill anyone for one year. He himself said he was tired of fighting. The Pablo from before could never have said something like that. He loves Sera and for her, he is willing to do anything now. Pablo Castillo is not Criminal X anymore."
Cupid said all that in one breath and silence engulfed the castle of the Gods.
Pablo had nothing to say about Cupid's words as he also didn't know what had happened to him after Sera's death. He liked nothing anymore. Nothing mattered for him anymore.
So he left it all to the Gods.
Altor and the other Gods heard Cupid and all of them looked at each other.
Cupid remained stern and stared at Altor without any fear. She had argued with Pablo to change his ways from the moment she had met him and now that Pablo was changing, she won't let him get punished for it. She would fight for him.
After a few minutes of more silence, Altor let out a heavy sigh.
"Tell me, Angel, do you think one year of inaction from Pablo could wipe the things he had done in his whole life in Seraphim?"
Cupid twitched but she answered right away.
"No. It does not wipe away his sins. But if you give him time, then this one year of inaction will become two years, then three years, then four years and then his whole life. He is not in the line of crimes anymore, God Altor. Have mercy on him."
Altor smiled. "A man so evil that even the kindest of Gods couldn't find pity for him. Do you remember this line?"
"Yes. I remember. People said this about Pablo. But you can't judge someone from their past. Pablo is willing to change and we should give him a chance." Cupid iterated.
Altor sighed again. "Fine. I shall ask one thing from Pablo."
The God of death turned to Pablo.
Pablo also looked at the Being and Cupid hoped whatever Altor asks, Pablo gives him the right answer.
"Tell me, Pablo." Altor spoke. "Are you a good man?"
Cupid heaved a sigh of relief.
Pablo should now just say yes and it would be over. Cupid felt weight lifting off her chest as she watched Pablo.
But what she didn't know was that Pablo was really a different man now.
So…
"No. I am not a good man." Pablo answered and Cupid smacked her forehead.
Pablo looked at her. "I won't lie, angel. I am grateful you fought for me but I don't have strength to lie anymore. And even if I lied, the Gods are smart enough to know if I lied or not."
Cupid opened her mouth but she had nothing to say anymore.
She went shut and only looked at Pablo with pity in her eyes.
The Gods smiled at Pablo and Altor shrugged while looking at Cupid.
Cupid said nothing and went behind Pablo again.
Pablo then kept his eyes on Altor and waited for the next things to take place.
"What now, Altor?" He asked.
Altor exhaled a sharp breath.
"You are the last evil in Seraphim, Pablo. As long as you are alive in Seraphim, evil will not completely vanish from the world. You have killed many people. You have killed so many of them. Your victims consist of all ages. Whoever came in your way, you killed. Whoever called you by something you didn't like, you killed.
You have killed children. You have killed newborn babies that had nothing to do with your fight with the Demon. Like it or not, you are evil, Pablo. You might not be that anymore, but it only takes a push and you will come back to your old ways again."
Altor finished telling Pablo's character and Pablo listened closely. He had nothing to say to that as Altor was right. Pablo had done all those things. He had killed people on a whim. Just because he wanted to. Just because he felt like it. Just because he could.
"So what do you want me to do now?" Pablo asked the main thing. He had no intention of listening to his own feats.
Altor pressed the side of his forehead and with utmost difficulty, he told Pablo what he had to do now.
"You should die."
