Li Min perked up. "But you said you can't make this information public!"
"I can't make this information public, but I can make the information about audit available. It was legally done and I only suspect bad administration and accounting on Yun Corporation's part. It will plant the seed of doubt," Qian Meng said.
"But… it proves nothing."
Qian Meng raised her brow. "When a company needs to falsify sales and raw material numbers… something is very wrong. I plant the seed… my father gets furious and he tries to act without thinking. He will have to prove that the doubt is false."
If he does want to clear doubts, he will have to bring out proof. In that way, Qian Meng wouldn't have to reveal what she had found and her dad would be pressured into a corner.
"Boss, you are really harsh on your father," Li Min said jokingly.
"I am just giving back what he gave me. I am more sophisticated about it, that is all." She smirked. It was partially her father knowing how hard-headed and petty Qian Meng was that made this plan feasible.
And Qian Meng knew her father well. He had a pattern of behavior.
The reason for the pattern was that her father was an aggressive person who was rarely in control. He could not see more than a couple of moves ahead. He could not see the consequences of his bold moves or clever tricks. And because he was constantly being forced to react to the moves of his ever-growing list of enemies and the unforeseen consequences of his own rash decisions, his aggressive energy turned against him.
"Thank you for finally standing up to that man. I am tired of listening to his voice every time he is in a bad mood," Li Min said hopefully. The clear meaning was, 'Boss, your father won't pester me any longer, right? Please say so. He has been talking my ear off for years!'
"Apologies," Qian Meng stated. "You will have to put up with him for a month or so more. And it's going to be worse than all the calls you have received over the years combined," she stated with a smile.
Li Min groaned. "I will block his number, then!" she warned.
"Do as you please. If he wants to speak to me, he can call me."
Li Min's lips turned down in a disturbed frown. "Boss…"
"His words don't affect me as much as they used to. I don't think I care much for him any longer. He feels more like a nuisance I had no choice but to keep in my life all these years. Don't worry." She looked up at her secretary with an appreciative smile. "I know you are constantly worried about me, but stop doing that. The company is slowly growing and I have a support system now. You have your own life to lead. Please concentrate on that."
Li Min was happy about the recent change in her workload. She went home on time and she rarely had to do overtime. But she was still deeply attached to the Boss who had employed her when no one else would despite her lack of education and qualification.
This boss looked at people with different eyes. She was loyal… fiercely loyal to her boss.
"Boss… I will never leave you. When the time comes, I will be old and walking with a cane… and you will have to take me away from my desk in a coffin."
Qian Meng snorted at the morbid proclamation of loyalty.
"Please don't die inside the building. I have had enough police contact for the rest of my life," she said.
Li Min nodded.
"Get going. I will call Mr. Gu and proceed with the plan," Qian Meng informed softly.
Li Min scurried out, satisfied.
Mr. Gu was a smaller shareholder in Yun Corporation. He was a real-estate mogul and a man in his seventies. The redeeming quality about this dilapidated man was… he liked to gossip. He liked to gossip a lot. And sugar-coating was his superpower.
He had contacted Qian Meng a couple of weeks ago because he wanted to buy an apartment building that Qian Meng had fully renovated. She was not looking to flip it, but to reel in Mr. Gu and get the opportunity to feed him information about Yun Corporation and its problems, she was going to sacrifice this apartment building which would have fetched her a higher price in the future.
She looked at the papers as she called Mr. Gu.
The phone rang multiple times before the older gentleman picked it up. "Yun Qian Meng?" he asked, surprised.
"Yes, Mr. Gu. It's me," she said quietly. "I was calling you back about your offer to buy the apartment building," she informed slowly.
"I thought you wouldn't be willing to sell it," he said. "I am very happy you decided to, but what changed your mind?" he asked.
Qian Meng pretended to hesitate. "It's… I am slowly going to liquidate my existing real-estate investments." She didn't give a reason, leaving it to the older man's gossipy mind to complete.
She wasn't going to tell him outright that she needed money for something. Instead, she would let him fill in the blank so that she can deny it later on.
"Ah! I see," Mr. Gu responded. "I was planning on buying the building for my son. I suppose you had a lot of bids, didn't you?" he asked.
"I did get some queries, but your offer was rather generous," she said. "I realized you were planning on gifting it as well, so I decided to go with you."
She could hear the smile in Mr. Gu's voice as he responded. "Of course. I am delighted. For the papers, when do you want me to send them over? Is there additional paperwork that I need to go over?"
Mr. Gu had never bought anything from Qian Meng. But she was known in the industry to cover all bases. From any residual property tax, water, and sanitation bills… she had strict criteria for it.
This was why people liked to buy properties from Qian Meng.
"I will look through it and discuss it with you," she informed him. This was the main point. Mr. Gu liked to meet in person and sign in person. He liked human contact and conversation, which tied in well with his gossipy nature.
