Chapter 307: Chapter 306: Mr. Xi Outside the Door

Last night, Jensen Sterling had some matters to attend to. After handling them, he didn’t check his phone and went straight to bed.

Because he had other things to do today.

Upon waking up, he saw a WeChat message from Cameron Grant, saying the issue was resolved, so he didn’t worry about it further.

He didn’t want to waste time on these kinds of things.

After Jensen Sterling packed his things and dressed neatly, he left the house.

Today’s weather was very cold, with snowflakes drifting outside. Jensen Sterling started a car in the garage and quietly left the neighborhood.

There weren’t many vehicles on the road today. Jensen Sterling held the steering wheel with one hand and opened the GPS on his phone with the other.

...

Mia Sutton only went for a stroll around the area today and even visited the ginkgo grove that Jensen Sterling had taken her to last time.

Unlike the last visit, all the leaves had fallen, leaving only bare branches covered with a layer of pristine snow due to the snowfall.

The lake had frozen over, and a few scattered people were ice skating on it.

Mia Sutton walked a lap along the path but didn’t find it very interesting.

She had really liked it last time, so before coming to record the show this time, Mia planned to visit again, thinking the snowfall would present a beautiful scene, but today’s visit left her slightly disappointed.

Although it was quite nice, it didn’t meet her expectations.

Even though it wasn’t snowing anymore today, it was still very cold. Mia Sutton had dressed warmly when she went out, but she still felt a bit chilly.

She pulled down her hat to cover her ears a bit and adjusted her scarf.

After making a turn, Mia Sutton returned to the hotel.

Upon arriving, she took off her down jacket and threw it over the sofa. Initially, she intended to check the time on her phone but found several unread messages instead.

Mia’s elegant fingers held the phone, and perhaps due to the cold outside, her jade-like fingertips were slightly red.

With her eyes downcast, she noticed the messages were from Jensen Sterling, consisting of several voice messages.

When she opened them, the man’s slightly hoarse voice came through the phone.

The first voice message asked when she’d be back.

The second one talked about some things and wished her to have fun.

The last message came half an hour after the first two, but it was typed out, not a voice message.

It advised her to stay safe while out, as it was cold and she should dress warmly.

Mia Sutton carefully read the messages, pursed her lips, and then opened the chat to reply.

[Mr. Sterling, I was outside and didn’t check my phone then.]

[I’ll probably be back in five or six days. Don’t worry, I’ll take good care of myself (*^ω^*)]

The tone was exactly as usual, even including an emoji, so no one could tell there was anything unusual.

In reality, while sending the messages, Mia was pressing her lips together, and after sending them, she set her phone aside.

She planned to take a nap, then she’d be ready to attend the dinner party.

...

On the other side, driving on the highway, Jensen Sterling heard the notification sound and glanced at his phone. It was a message from Mia Sutton.

He read it and his lips curved into a slight smile.

He decided not to reply for now since he’d be seeing her in a few hours. He wondered what her reaction would be upon seeing him.

This thought made Jensen Sterling chuckle softly.

Cameron Grant had no idea that Jensen had postponed the event just to go to the neighboring province to see Mia Sutton.

Mia Sutton had messaged him two days before, saying she had no activities planned after the show’s end and wished to enjoy some tourist spots.

Jensen Sterling didn’t want to spoil her fun, but he also wished to see her, so he drove himself there.

Meanwhile, Mia Sutton had no clue that Jensen was already on his way to see her.

After waking from her nap, Mia felt much better emotionally. She organized her belongings and, seeing it was still early, picked up her nearby tablet to work on some drafts she had pending.

As she was drawing, somehow Mia clicked on last night’s topic again.

She wasn’t upset anymore, and seeing people still pairing Chloe Young with Jensen Sterling, Mia suddenly regretted only liking comments without replying.

But now it wasn’t too late to make it up.

She opened the reply box below and started typing out responses, one after another, of course using a secondary account.

While Mia might lack other things, alternate accounts were never in short supply.

As she replied, her mood improved, even causing a smile to creep up her lips.

Just as she finished typing a line and before she could send it, there was a knock on the door.

Mia immediately looked up, surprise flashing in her eyes. She checked the time and confirmed it was still early. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮

Could they have changed the schedule?

She wondered as she put the tablet on the bed, lifted the blanket, and walked to the door in her slippers.

"Is the time brought forward..." yet?

The last two words were swallowed the moment she saw the person at the door, the door only half-open.

She was stunned by the scene before her, took a few seconds to blink a few times, and then realized she hadn’t seen wrong.

"Mr. Sterling? Why are you here?"

Standing outside, Jensen Sterling wore a black down jacket and a mask, his eyes smiling at Mia.

The young lady was in a sweater with a slightly loose neckline, revealing her delicate collarbones. She probably felt chilly, so the room’s heater was cranked up, giving her cheeks a rosy glow.

When she opened the door, she definitely didn’t expect the person outside to be him, with surprise evident in her wide eyes, her lips parted in dumbfounded cuteness.

Jensen Sterling: "Aren’t you going to let me in?"

Only then did Mia realize she was still holding the door. She quickly released it, moved aside, and opened the door wider: "...No."

"Mr. Sterling, please come in."

Jensen Sterling smiled and stepped inside, reached for a pair of disposable slippers from the hotel shoe cabinet, and put them on.

The room was definitely warm. He casually unzipped his jacket, taking it off and placing it on the sofa.

With his tall build, the room seemed smaller once Jensen entered, though it might have been Mia’s perception.

Mia, still in her slippers, ran over to pour a glass of water for Jensen, handing it to him: "Mr. Sterling, have some water."

Accepting the glass and taking two sips, Jensen Sterling heard her ask, "Mr. Sterling, didn’t Cameron say you had some event these days? How come you’re here?"
