Contract Marriage: Boss, Let's divorce-Chapter 826 - 825: Sudden Change (Part 8)
His task for tonight was not just this; he hadn’t even had the chance to savor the night with the beauty, so why was he being sent away?
To be honest, he really felt a bit reluctant with such a beauty.
Thinking about it, he instinctively muttered, "Mr. Xiao, this isn’t what we agreed upon, is it?"
Xiao Chen didn’t speak, just cast him a casual glance, "I said, you can leave now."
Xiao Chen always gave off a gentle aura, yet his calm voice carried its own gravitas, shocking the man for a moment. He rubbed his nose, feeling a bit regretful, but he dared not offend the employer, hastily dressed, and left.
After the man left, only Xiao Chen and the quietly sleeping Ling Chuxia remained in the room.
Xiao Chen turned to look at Ling Chuxia. She was sleeping peacefully, as if lost in her own sweet dream, her lips even slightly upturned.
He knew why Ling Chuxia was sleeping so soundly and peacefully; she must have thought that Shi Che was by her side now, right?
Xiao Chen stared and gradually found himself in a trance.
Yun Shu and Chuxia look identical, but... he had never seen such a serene and happy smile on Yun Shu’s face.
He so wished Yun Shu could, like Chuxia, be simple, pure, without hatred, without obsession. Then, she could surely be happy too.
But she was always unwilling to let go, always unwilling to forgive herself.
If she found out that he hadn’t harmed Ling Chuxia, what would she do?
If she went back on her decision not to return to the United States with him or marry him, he could overlook that. The only thing he cared about was, if this didn’t succeed, she would find another chance, and then another, forcing herself into a dead end again and again.
Xiao Chen’s dark eyes moved stiffly, looking at Ling Chuxia, and his gaze slowly turned cold. Regarding Chuxia’s child, he could only repay her a favor. He could protect her innocence, but... for Yun Shu’s sake, he still had to undertake other tasks.
Xiao Chen took a deep breath, rubbed his face hard with both hands, then took out his phone from his pocket and dialed a number.
After more than ten minutes, there was a knock on the door. Xiao Chen went over and opened it; a woman wrapped tightly entered and respectfully greeted Xiao Chen, "Mr. Xiao."
Xiao Chen lifted his head slightly, "Did you prepare everything I asked for?"
The woman nodded.
Xiao Chen couldn’t help but glance at Ling Chuxia on the bed, clenched his hand with force, his gaze turning deep, "Then do as I instructed."
"Understood." The moment she finished speaking, the woman walked toward Ling Chuxia.
Xiao Chen stood frozen for a few seconds before finally lifting his foot and stepping out of the room, gently closing the door behind him.
He didn’t know how long he stood at the door; the entire hotel maintained a constant temperature, yet standing there, cold crept in, making him shiver.
The door finally opened again behind him, the woman stepping out, still respectful, "Mr. Xiao, the matter is done."
Xiao Chen closed his eyes wearily, "Good."
After the woman left, he turned and walked back into the room, but every step felt heavy, each step filled with strain.
Such a short distance seemed to drag on for an endless amount of time.
