Ji Xinxin saw this and quickly helped her to the sofa nearby, instructing a waiter to bring a cup of warm water. The waiter nodded in agreement and turned around to get the warm water.
Ji Xinxin turned her head to look at Ling Chuxia, who was reclining on the sofa with flushed cheeks, and couldn’t help but say, "Xiaxia, your alcohol tolerance is really pathetic. Just a little drink, and it knocked you out!"
Ling Chuxia merely smiled faintly.
Despite her complaints, when the waiter brought over the warm water, Ji Xinxin was still careful as she fed it to Ling Chuxia and softly said, "Just rest here for a while, I’ll drink the rest of the alcohol for you."
Ling Chuxia nodded.
After Ji Xinxin left, Ling Chuxia closed her eyes and rested for a bit. However, having had quite a lot to drink earlier, Ling Chuxia felt the urge to use the bathroom. She slowly opened her eyes, steadied her thoughts, then stood up and walked toward the restroom.
The restroom was at the end of the hallway around the corner. Ling Chuxia was feeling a bit dizzy, so she didn’t dare to walk quickly and instead slowly walked, supporting herself against the wall, before entering the restroom. After attending to her needs, Ling Chuxia stood in front of the sink, turned on the faucet, washed her hands, and then splashed her face with water.
The cold water on her face didn’t help clear her mind at all. For some reason, her head was getting even dizzier. Facing the mirror, she forcefully patted her cheeks with both hands, trying to wake herself up. Then she pulled some tissues to wipe her face and hands clean, turning to walk out of the restroom.
Opposite the restroom was the emergency stairwell. As Ling Chuxia walked out of the restroom, she coincidentally saw a familiar silhouette pass by her quickly and push the stairwell door open to walk inside.
Ling Chuxia’s steps came to an involuntary halt. That back... It looked so much like Shi Che!
But how could Shi Che be here? Just now, when she was chatting with him on WeChat, he told her that his bachelor party was taking place at the "Night and Beautiful" venue.
Did he... not manage to resist and sneak over to see her?
Thinking of this, unconsciously, a hint of a smile appeared in Ling Chuxia’s eyes. She lifted her foot and couldn’t help but walk toward the emergency stairwell.
Seeing the man walking upstairs, she followed quietly, planning to give him a scare later.
But the man seemed to have eyes in the back of his head, maintaining a distance from her, never letting her get too close nor leaving her too far behind, so she wouldn’t lose him.
Throughout, she could only see the man’s back, unable to catch up, which made her a bit annoyed, wondering if Shi Che had already noticed her and was doing this on purpose.
Suddenly, as the man continued walking, he stopped on one floor and pushed open the stairwell door to head outside.
Ling Chuxia was slightly taken aback; this floor wasn’t where she was staying. Why would Shi Che stop here? Did he remember the wrong floor?
Unknowingly, Ling Chuxia followed him out of the stairwell and into the hallway, only to see the man walk straight into a room in the middle, swiping a card to enter.
The confusion in Ling Chuxia’s eyes deepened -- wasn’t Shi Che here to see her? Why was he here?
Driven by curiosity and doubts, she unknowingly followed, reaching the doorway of that room when she discovered the door wasn’t fully closed. She raised her hand and gently pushed the door open.
