Chapter 1194: Chapter 1194: Lingxin and Mingli (5)

At this point, Gu Nuan’s parents dedicated themselves to taking care of their daughter and son-in-law’s children, a task that lasted three years on end. These two little rascals naturally became closest to their grandparents. That’s true, but the problem was, the two little monkeys always liked to "bully" people. Gu Nuan’s mom and dad, being good-natured, often ended up being bullied by the two kids.

Seeing that Gu Nuan’s mom wasn’t pleased, Gu Nuan’s dad nudged her into the kitchen to cook, while he went over to the two grandkids to play with them.

Mingli climbed onto his grandpa’s shoulders to play horsey, yelling "Yay yay yay" all the way.

Lingxin, being the older brother, seemed quieter compared to his younger brother. Sitting in the corner reading his book, his brother’s yelling annoyed him, so he plugged his ears with his fingers.

Seeing this, Gu Nuan’s dad took Mingli to the balcony to play.

Gu Nuan’s mom was making lunch for the kids, while on the phone asking her daughter and son-in-law whether they would be back for lunch.

Her daughter, Gu Nuan, was likely in a meeting at the company and couldn’t take the call, and her son-in-law, Xiaobai, seemed to be on a business trip somewhere, with no response yet.

Afraid the kids would be too hungry waiting for the adults to return, Gu Nuan’s mom fried a couple of pancakes and brought them to the living room.

As soon as Mingli saw the food, he shouted from atop his grandpa’s shoulders, "I want to eat, I want to eat!"

Apparently, fed up with his brother’s noise, Lingxin jumped off the sofa, grabbed the pancake his grandma had placed on the table and went back to his room, locking the door.

Seeing this, Mingli burst into tears, "Brother took my pancake."

Gu Nuan’s dad hurriedly comforted him, saying, "Don’t cry, don’t cry, grandma will make more. You’ll have something to eat soon." Then he called out to Gu Nuan’s mom, "Quick, quick, bring two more pancakes."

But Gu Nuan’s mom went to knock on Lingxin’s door, saying, "Xiaobai, open up, why did you take your brother’s pancake?"

"He’s too noisy." Lingxin’s voice inside was overly calm, not at all like a three-year-old.

"Even if he’s noisy, he’s still your brother. You can’t take his pancake. Didn’t grandpa and grandma always teach you to care for your brother?" Gu Nuan’s mom reasoned with him from outside.

Lingxin coldly replied, "He needs discipline, not indulgence."

By this time, Mingli had scrambled down from his grandpa’s shoulders, rushed to his brother’s door, and began pounding with his fists, "Give me back my pancake! You stinky brother!"

Seeing the two kids about to get into a fight, Gu Nuan’s mom and dad were terrified. They pulled one back to the balcony and sent the other to the kitchen to make more pancakes. However, when Gu Nuan’s mom brought out the freshly made pancakes, Little Mingli, puffed up with anger, sat on the sofa with his cheeks bulging, saying, "I’m not going to eat. I want to eat my brother’s."

Gu Nuan’s dad coaxed him, saying, "It’s the same. No, this one’s newly made by grandma, it’s even better. Try one. Grandpa is drooling just looking at them, really."

"Not eating! I want my brother’s!" Mingli turned his head in defiance.

By this time, Gu Nuan’s mom and dad were already so worn out from the two kids that they could only sit there catching their breath.

Mingli jumped off the sofa, squeezed past his grandparents, and ran to his brother’s door, knocking with his little fists, "Brother, open the door!"

Lingxin seemed isolated from the world, not making a sound.

Oh dear, my little darling. Gu Nuan’s mom suddenly realized Grandma Xiao was a smart one, foreseeing this day, and simply took a hands-off approach. She waved helplessly at Gu Nuan’s dad. If this goes on, she won’t have the strength to make lunch.

Gu Nuan’s dad took a deep breath, gathered himself, and went to stand by Mingli, whispering as he covered Little Mingli’s mouth, "Grandpa’s got this."
