Chapter 1118: Chapter 1118: So That’s the Origin (Part 1)

Father-in-law spoke from the opposite side, while Xiao Yebai listened with a serious expression.

It sounded like a father-in-law scolding a son-in-law, yet even Da Bai could feel the worries and affection of the parents-in-law filling their hearts.

Until Mother-in-law raised her hand and lightly hit Father-in-law, saying, "Are you done talking? What time is it?"

Father-in-law stopped himself, realizing he might have gone overboard.

On the son-in-law’s side, there wasn’t a sound, which made him a bit uneasy. He wanted to say something to ease the tension but, thinking about the previous anxiety he and his wife felt, along with the hardships of his daughter and grandchild, he decided to stick to his view. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚

"Yebai, you might feel unhappy hearing this—" Father-in-law’s stubborn words were interrupted again by Mother-in-law’s light slap.

Mother-in-law glared at him: What are you saying?

Xiao Yebai said, "Dad, I’m not unhappy. In fact, I’m quite happy."

Father-in-law covered the receiver and said to Mother-in-law, "He’s not unhappy."

Mother-in-law, caring for her son-in-law, angrily said, "Even I’m unhappy. How could he not be? Do you think he just wandered off willingly, making everyone worry? Were you not thinking, there’s no way he’s that kind of person? It’s a pity you claimed to know your son-in-law the best the last time he visited us."

After being scolded by Mother-in-law, Father-in-law realized that venting his feelings might have wrongly accused his son-in-law.

Xiao Yebai, hearing his parents-in-law arguing, quickly mediated, "Mom, Dad, it’s all my fault. It’s entirely my fault."

"Enough, enough," Father-in-law said, "No matter what, it’s good that you’re back. They need you, mother and child."

Xiao Yebai nodded.

"In the next couple of days, your mom and I will pack up and come over. Don’t worry about booking our tickets; we haven’t decided on the departure time or date," Father-in-law instructed his son-in-law, "Whatever you have in mind, focus everything on Nuannuan and the child. Don’t worry about us, understand?"

"Yes, Dad. I’ll definitely give Nuannuan all my attention."

Da Bai’s sweet words made the other two brothers present look at each other.

After finishing the call with his parents-in-law, Xiao Yebai told Zhan Dapeng and them, "You guys head back. We’ll stay in contact if anything comes up."

Seeing there was little he could help with here, Zhan Dapeng went outside to drive. Zhang Sanfeng looked at Xiao Yebai and said, "Second Brother, there’s a bit of blood on your cuff. I’m worried Sixth Brother will notice."

Upon hearing this, Xiao Yebai lowered his head, wondering how he could still get stained with blood despite being so cautious. That moment, he realized he had been tricked.

This Old Third, with his natural intelligence, could easily outmatch both Old Fourth and Sixth Brother, and knew Xiao Yebai best.

Xiao Yebai raised his head, seeing Zhang San’s face wasn’t smug but rather had grown even more solemn, letting out a breath.

"Second Brother, I know you didn’t want this, and you have concerns. Old Fourth can be reckless in speaking or acting, possibly revealing to Sixth Brother, but I’m different," Zhang Sanfeng said.

"I know, I know," Xiao Yebai’s fingers gently tapped the dining table.

"Second Brother, you don’t have to say anything, but don’t think you’re alone. At least you have me behind you."

Xiao Yebai turned back, seemingly glaring at him: "I’ve told you, find a woman sooner and don’t keep focusing all your thoughts on your brothers."

"Difficult," Zhang Sanfeng spat out, "Like Sixth Brother said, unless we figure out what’s going on with Fifth Brother, nothing can truly be peaceful."
