Consequences of Dumping the Obsessive Boss: Stuck with Him Forever-Chapter 248: Justin Huxley’s Relentless Pursuit
"You suspect I might harm you?" Justin Huxley moved from his original position, separated from Summer Lowell by a table, and sat next to her. "Why won’t you believe that I’m helping you? Haven’t you always wanted to leave?"
"Don’t drag me into your mess. It’s like helping me." Summer Lowell packed her bag, ready to leave, not wanting to talk to him any further. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
"Summer!" Justin hurriedly tried to stop her when he saw her turning hostile so quickly.
Summer ignored his plea, turned around, and opened the door, only to be startled by a woman passing by.
Justin chased after her closely. The woman at the door who stopped in her tracks looked up at the commotion, and when she saw it was Justin, she smiled, "Justin, what a coincidence, you’re here too."
She seemed to be Justin’s friend.
Summer looked down, ready to walk past the woman and leave.
For some reason, the woman suddenly stepped forward, blocking her path.
Summer, displeased, politely said, "Please step aside and let me through."
While she spoke, Justin caught up with her, placing a hand on her shoulder, "Don’t be mad, listen to what I have to say. Besides, you haven’t even finished eating, why leave now?"
Out of Summer’s sight, Justin gave the woman blocking her path a meaningful look.
"Why do I find this lady so familiar?" The woman blocking the door stepped closer to Summer.
Summer sensed something wrong, looked up at the two people in front and behind her, "You probably mistook me for someone else, please let me through."
"No, I didn’t mistake you for someone else, you are the one Maxim Sinclair keeps... Sorry, I misspoke, you’re his wife, right?"
The woman’s words were full of malice. Summer looked on coldly, then turned to Justin, "Someone you set up?"
Justin shook his head quickly, "How could it be? Just happened to run into a friend."
The woman glanced up and down at Summer and then at Justin, with a mocking expression, "I heard you are trying to poach from Maxim Sinclair, does that mean you’ve succeeded?"
Summer looked at the obvious troublemaker, got angry, and turned to mockingly look at Justin, "With such a sour tone, your admirer?"
"Stop talking nonsense, both of you," Justin, using this exchange, pulled Summer back into the room, "Leaving just like that, you change face so quickly, only I can tolerate your temper."
The woman who appeared out of nowhere also followed them into the room. Summer looked on coldly, trying to guess what this person was up to.
"If I’m not mistaken, you’re Summer Lowell, right?"
"I am. Do you know me?"
Although Summer’s tone was questioning, her face showed certainty.
"Who doesn’t know you," the woman admired her newly done nails with a sarcastic tone, "Two major wealthy families in Stellarion—the Sinclair Family and the Huxley Family, you’re the only one who has ties with men from both families. It’s one thing to marry up, but to play both sides, aren’t you afraid of breaking your own legs?"
Once she finished, Justin stopped her, "What are you saying?"
"Just talking, is she allowed to do it, but not allow others to talk? That’s not fair."
Summer ignored her, instead turning to Justin, "Did you ask me back here just to stand and listen to your friend mock and insult me? You really went out of your way."
"No, listen to me, I’m not even familiar with this person," Justin walked over, escorted the person who wanted to mock Summer out, said a few more words at the door, then returned, "This person is Tina’s friend, probably said something in front of her which gave her a bad impression of you. I’ve already scolded her, and I’ll scold Tina later too. Don’t worry, I won’t let this kind of thing happen again."
"You don’t have to assure me, I don’t care about these things," Summer indeed appeared uninterested, "Just handle your little sister Tina. You know I’m not someone who gets trampled over. This time I’m suing, I won’t let her off."
"I don’t mean to let her off. She’s spoiled by her family and indeed needs to learn a lesson, but you, are you sure you won’t cooperate with me?"
Summer felt a bit exasperated, "Was that person you arranged?"
"What benefit would it bring me to arrange for her to say such things about you?" Justin didn’t answer directly but asked back.
"I can’t figure out the benefit, but I remember you love manipulating people. I’ve seen you use that trick to retaliate against those who bullied me before. Back then, I thought it was quite clever when you helped me, but if you’re using it against me now, it doesn’t feel as good."
Summer’s hand, hidden under the table, secretly clenched into a fist.
"I’m really hurt by your words," Justin shook his head with a wounded expression, "Back then, it was out of necessity to save you."
"Skip the sentimental talk, get to the point," Summer knew he still had more to say, "But I won’t cooperate with you. And I can honestly tell you, if I ever want to leave, Maxim Sinclair can’t stop me."
"So you mean, you don’t want to leave?"
"Think what you want."
"Relying on him is like plotting with a tiger," Justin took out a briefcase he was carrying, took out a file from it, and placed it in front of Summer, "This is about what Maxim Sinclair did after you fell into the sea."
"What did he do after I fell into the sea?" Summer took the file with a doubtful expression, humorously adding, "Did he lose his mind and desperately search for me?"
"From what I know, he indeed was desperately searching, but after failing to find you, many people were implicated," Justin pointed at the photos on the pages, "These people are all blood-related to Maxim Sinclair. His parents’ marriage is a facade. After having him as the heir, they each went their own way, producing many illegitimate children."
"I’m not surprised by this. When I was his secretary, I handled similar matters for him."
"Keep flipping through, don’t rush, the good stuff is in the back," Justin said as he helped flip a few more pages.
Summer only glanced at it briefly before looking away, "What’s the point of showing me this?"
"Just a kind reminder for you to clearly see what kind of person Maxim Sinclair is. He’s treating you well now, but can you guarantee that once he’s tired of you, your end will be any better than these people?" Justin said each word slowly, watching Summer’s reaction closely.
