Consequences of Dumping the Obsessive Boss: Stuck with Him Forever-Chapter 207: Was There a Misunderstanding Back Then?
"No, I don’t," Tina Huxley, who had just been reminded by Mrs. Huxley, wouldn’t dare leave her like this to enjoy herself elsewhere. "My biggest task today is to accompany you to choose a wedding dress. Don’t worry, I’m quite free and have plenty of time to keep you company."
Summer Lowell chuckled inwardly. She didn’t want this Huxley family’s eldest daughter to accompany her. If possible, she wished the Huxley daughter would just leave her now and let her go about on her own.
The store manager returned, politely inviting Summer inside.
Summer didn’t want Tina Huxley following her closely, so she turned and suggested: "I’ll go in to change into the wedding dress, and when I’m done I’ll seek your opinion, so you don’t need to come in with me."
This suited Tina Huxley just fine.
Tina Huxley nodded cheerfully, "I’ll wait for you outside then."
Maxim Sinclair parked his car, and Matthew quickly approached him in the underground parking lot: "President Sinclair, Miss Lowell is now inside the wedding dress shop on the northeast corner of the third floor. She went out today with only Tina Huxley. I had our men investigate, and Justin Huxley hasn’t arranged for anyone else to be around her."
"Find a way to draw Tina Huxley away."
Maxim Sinclair headed toward the elevator, asking Matthew again before getting in, "What about the store manager?"
"She was just bought off five minutes ago. You can go directly over there; she won’t make a fuss and definitely won’t speak out of turn."
Maxim Sinclair nodded, "Good job."
"It’s what I should do."
The curtain of the fitting room was again pulled open, and the store manager walked up to support Summer Lowell: "Miss Lowell, be careful, the floor in this fitting room is a bit slippery."
Summer looked at the store manager, whose attitude was obviously much more polite, and couldn’t help feeling puzzled.
What happened while she was changing clothes just now?
Could it be that Justin Huxley had reprimanded Tina Huxley?
The thought had just surfaced when Summer immediately sensed something wrong with her assumption.
Why did she suspect that the store manager’s previously indifferent attitude was due to Tina Huxley?
Her instinctive reaction just now...
It was as if similar situations had happened before.
Or perhaps, in her subconscious, that’s exactly the kind of person Tina Huxley seemed to be.
"Miss Lowell, your belt isn’t properly arranged; come over here, I’ll help you fix it." The store manager suddenly said, interrupting Summer’s random thoughts.
"Oh, alright," Summer shook off the chaotic thoughts and walked to the store manager, "Weren’t there two assistants here earlier? Why is it just you now?"
"Oh, it’s like this: the wedding dresses here come with matching jewelry," the store manager softly laughed. "To show you the best fitting effect, I had them go inside to get the jewelry. You can try them on later to experience the overall effect."
Speaking of jewelry, it reminded Summer of her profession and work.
A few days ago, she’d mentioned to Vivian Sullivan and Justin Huxley about going out to work, but for some reason, both had jointly expressed disapproval.
Though they claimed they were worried about her health, intuition told her there must be another reason.
She just didn’t know what exactly was going on.
The store manager glanced at her phone and, looking apologetic, said to Summer: "I’m sorry, Miss Lowell, there was a slight issue when they got the jewelry which requires my attention. Please wait here for a moment, I’ll be right back."
"It’s alright, you go ahead. I haven’t tied my belt yet anyway."
Summer focused on her belt and didn’t notice that shortly after the store manager left, Maxim Sinclair walked in.
Upon hearing footsteps, Summer assumed the store manager had returned and, without looking up, smiled and said: "You came just in time. I can’t seem to fasten the hidden buckle on this belt at the back; could you help me?"
Maxim Sinclair raised an eyebrow slightly, realizing Summer likely wasn’t aware of his presence.
He shook his head, chuckled quietly, and walked over, fastening the hidden buckle at her back as she asked.
"Thank you very much," Summer smiled, looking up, meeting Maxim Sinclair’s gaze in the massive fitting mirror.
Summer exclaimed, turning to the side, "Why are you here?"
Maxim Sinclair raised his right hand, waving it at her: "You’re here, so I came. Your reaction to seeing me is a bit odd. You never showed such an expression when you saw me before."
"Then what was my reaction to seeing you before?" Summer carefully observed the surroundings, a bit uneasy inside.
Maxim Sinclair saw through her thoughts with perfect clarity: "Don’t worry, I’ve booked this place entirely. Today I’ve come just to see you."
"You’ve booked this place?" Summer furrowed her brow, looking at Maxim Sinclair incredulously, while recalling what Justin Huxley had previously said.
Seemed like this person indeed had the ability to break her and Justin Huxley apart.
Besides, this person’s domineering attitude when speaking indicated he really wasn’t someone easy to mess with.
Maxim Sinclair unfetteredly gazed at her from head to toe, his eyes darkening considerably: "It’s my first time seeing you in a wedding dress, yet this one doesn’t suit you. Don’t worry, I’ll take you to Valois later and have a renowned designer create a unique wedding dress based on your characteristics."
Summer found his words inexplicably odd: "Our relationship shouldn’t involve you arranging a wedding dress for me, right? President Sinclair, don’t trouble yourself with this matter."
"What a joke," Maxim Sinclair scoffed repeatedly, "It’s natural for me to care about my future wife’s wedding dress."
Is there something wrong with this guy’s brain?
Suppressing a flood of miscellaneous speculations, Summer calmly probed Maxim Sinclair: "Are you mistaking me for someone else? My fiancé is Justin Huxley, you’ve attended the banquet before."
Maxim Sinclair, unable to hold it any longer, stepped closer, gazing firmly into Summer’s eyes: "Don’t you remember anything? Have you forgotten how deeply we once loved each other?"
Summer was dumbfounded.
Seeing her reaction, Maxim Sinclair understood she likely hadn’t been told about their romantic history.
Maxim Sinclair softened his voice and spoke gently: "We used to love each other deeply, then some misunderstandings arose, causing us to separate temporarily. Fortunately, fate led us to cross paths again. But after that, due to unresolved misunderstandings, we weren’t happy together. To mend our relationship, I took you out to sea, and then you had an accident."
This greatly differed from everything Summer knew before.
"Can you tell me what this misunderstanding you speak of was about?"
