Chapter 220: Chapter 194: Teach Her a Lesson

After watching her friend get into Jason Hawthorne’s car and leave, Nina Pierce slowly prepared to head home, only to receive a call from the hospital saying that two patients had been urgently brought to the operating room and needed her assistance. She agreed without hesitation.

By the time she finished, it was nearly 11 PM. Her colleagues greeted her and then left one after another. Nina Pierce took off her gloves and threw them into the trash can, not immediately returning to her office but standing by the window in the hallway to take a deep breath...

She only ever felt a deep happiness when she managed to save a patient in the operating room.

But tonight...

"Dr. Pierce, you haven’t finished your shift yet?"

"I’m about to head back."

Nina Pierce replied weakly, her heart still heavy.

The person came over and patted her shoulder, speaking earnestly, "You did very well in tonight’s surgery. The patient was elderly, and the surgery itself was inherently risky. We signed an agreement with the patient’s family before going into the operating room, so the responsibility doesn’t lie with you."

Nina Pierce nodded, "Thank you, Dr. Linden."

Dr. Linden gave her a smile, "I’ll be off then."

Nina Pierce smiled slightly, "Okay."

She also knew that the failure of this surgery was not her fault, but she still couldn’t let it go. As a doctor, you always hope to save lives...

After being alone quietly for a while, she slowly returned to her office to change clothes and leave, only to unexpectedly run into Theodore White at the hospital entrance.

He parked the car in front of her and rolled down the window, "I’ll give you a ride."

Nina Pierce didn’t even look at him, calmly refusing, "No need, I’ll take a cab back myself."

Theodore White was persistent, "It’s too late. It’s unsafe for a girl to take a cab back alone! Haven’t you seen all those accidents that happen in the middle of the night on the news?"

Nina Pierce turned and glared at him, "Those tricks to fool little girls don’t work on me anymore."

Theodore White kept following her with his car, "I’m serious."

Nina Pierce coldly refused, "There’s no need!"

Working at the same hospital as him was already unfortunate enough for her; she didn’t want to have any more interactions with him!

As for last time, it was purely accidental...

Theodore White spoke again, "Even if you don’t want me to give you a ride, you should still call your boyfriend to come pick you up, right?"

Nina Pierce shot him a sidelong glance, "You’re meddling too much!"

Theodore White simply turned off his car and got out, "I heard you’ve been working overtime for a week straight, yet your boyfriend hasn’t picked you up even once at night. Did you have a fight?"

Nina Pierce looked at him coldly, "Theodore White, does this matter concern you? Please don’t make assumptions about my personal life! Okay?"

Theodore White felt a bit deflated, "Nina, I’m just showing concern from a friend’s perspective..."

Nina Pierce interrupted him, "Enough! Who said you were my friend? Theodore White, from the moment you disappeared, I told myself in my heart: from now on, it’s best if we don’t meet again, and even if we do, we should pretend we don’t know each other!"

Theodore White felt a tightness in his chest, "Nina, actually back then I..."

He was about to speak again but was cut off by Nina Pierce, "The things from back then are long past! I don’t want to hear it! Just like between us... every bit of feeling has been worn away by time long ago! Even though we coincidentally work at the same hospital, please try not to appear in front of me in the future, okay?"

She paused, "I just want to live my own ordinary life well."

Theodore White could only swallow his words. It seemed that some things, once missed, can never be recovered...

After watching Nina Pierce leave in a cab, Theodore White sat in his car for a long time until the sudden ringing of his phone broke the silence.

It was his cousin Chloe Aniston calling, "Brother White, did you catch your princess?"

Theodore White forced a bitter smile and changed the topic, "I heard from Auntie and Uncle that you’re planning to change your major?"

Chloe Aniston nodded, "Yeah, economics is just too tedious. I’ve decided to study directing. My future goal is to become a well-known director!"

Theodore White couldn’t help but laugh, "That’s quite an ambitious wish!"

Chloe Aniston pouted, "Hate it! Even Brother White is making fun of me?"
