Comprehension Ability: Creating the Five Thunders Technique in Reality-Chapter 1170 - 588: The Wicked Capitalist (Part 2)
However, even after finishing the drink dubbed as "fat boy happy water," he still couldn't figure out why Xia Luyao had been acting so unusually lately.
"Could it really be because relatives came over?" Lin Beichen wondered to himself, "But they've been staying way too long."
As he was pondering this, the sound of high heels clicking on the floor arose. Lin Beichen thought it was the hotel cleaner, and upon looking up, he saw it was Xia Luyao.
Speak of the devil.
"Where's your phone?" Xia Luyao asked expressionlessly.
"It's charging over there." Lin Beichen pointed at the charger.
"Get ready. You've been assigned to protect Sun Ningzhou. Call for the details yourself," Xia Luyao said formally and turned to leave, as if looking at Lin Beichen even one more second would make her uncomfortable.
"Protect Sun Ningzhou?" Lin Beichen was puzzled. Why protect that guy? Wasn't he already imprisoned?
Full of doubt, Lin Beichen made a call to inquire more. It turned out they were transferring Sun Ningzhou from a regular prison to Akagi Prison, which holds serious offenders, and their organization "Poisonous Snake" was called upon for extra security. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
Clearly, Xia Luyao was still having a tantrum and dumped the task on Lin Beichen.
Lin Beichen shook his head helplessly. Protecting a Sun Ningzhou? That's a piece of cake for him.
He put on some casual clothes, gathered his gear, and swaggered to the handover location. The handover personnel were stunned seeing Lin Beichen come alone.
Little did they know, among the entire "Poisonous Snake" organization, Lin Beichen was the most robust.
Not that Lin Beichen was bragging, but with him there, not even all of Sun Ningzhou's family coming together could escape from him.
"Li-Lin Lin Beichen?"
As Sun Ningzhou, dressed in a distinct uniform, saw Lin Beichen, his face turned pale as paper, his body trembling as if he's having a seizure.
One of the handover personnel quickly tried to calm him down, helping Sun Ningzhou snap out of his shock.
Sun Ningzhou clung desperately to the handover staff's leg, utterly refusing to go with Lin Beichen, as if Lin Beichen were a man-eating beast.
This put Lin Beichen in an awkward position. Unable to do anything else, he clasped Sun Ningzhou by the neck and lifted him like a chick, forcing him into the car.
"Are you sure that's okay, man?" a handover staff member asked in confusion.
"Yes, this is fine." Lin Beichen nodded.
"You're going alone?"
"Yes, alone."
"You really don't need us to follow?"
"Really don't need it."
After declining the offer of assistance, Lin Beichen drove off, unperturbed by the temporary assignment.
As he previously remarked, it's just Sun Ningzhou; with his skills, ensuring safety shouldn't be a concern.
About an hour later, when the car drove down a bustling street, Sun Ningzhou, who had previously been quiet as a quail, suddenly shouted, "Stop, stop, I need to eat, I'm hungry."
"Hungry?"
Lin Beichen pulled the car to the curb, turned around, and looked at Sun Ningzhou expressionlessly, "What did you just say? I didn't catch that. Say it again."
"I-I-I..."
Under Lin Beichen's gaze, Sun Ningzhou shivered as if stared at by a fierce tiger, legs trembling, mind blank.
"Listen, whatever schemes you're brewing, you'd better behave yourself in front of me. Otherwise, I don't mind beating you half-dead and tossing you back into prison." Lin Beichen sneered, checking the time. It was meal time, no wonder he felt hungry as soon as Sun Ningzhou mentioned it.
He exited the car, took out his phone, and opened a food delivery app, swiping the screen searching for a well-rated nearby restaurant to order from when he noticed a familiar figure approaching from the opposite side.
"Zhao Lili? I thought you went back?"
The woman, her long hair cascading over her shoulders, with a fully curved figure, striking makeup, and wearing a long black dress, was none other than his former classmate Zhao Lili.
Previously, Zhao Lili's farewell dinner meant she was leaving and everything was arranged for her departure that night. Seeing her here now surprised Lin Beichen immensely.
"Lin Beichen." Zhao Lili replied with an awkward expression before suddenly sprinting toward him, yelling, "Lin Beichen, run!"
"Run?"
Bewildered, Lin Beichen witnessed Zhao Lili already at his side, trying to drag him away.
However, her strength was not enough to move Lin Beichen.
She desperately tried to explain something to Lin Beichen, but a gang of fierce-looking men surrounded them from all sides.
Seeing this, Zhao Lili's face lit up with despair as she murmured blankly, "It's over, it's over, now there's no chance to escape."
"You wretched woman." A burly Caucasian man glared at Zhao Lili, "I'll deal with you later."
He then turned his fierce gaze to Lin Beichen, speaking in clumsy Mandarin, "Kid, now that you've caught me, I'll stop pretending. Kneel down, hands on your head, or I'll kill you!"
"Kill me?" Lin Beichen paused, then laughed, appraising the burly Caucasian before speaking, "Which rat hole did you crawl out of, bug? You think you can actually end me? Are you worthy?"
Angry, the Caucasian's hand instinctively reached for his pocket. But seeing more people crowding around, he suppressed the rage.
He couldn't act here, at least not in this place. Otherwise, they'd all end up behind bars, or worse, shot—all because this place isn't his gunfight-ridden homeland.
Calming down, the Caucasian approached Lin Beichen and spoke coldly:
"Kid, I'll give you one last chance. Hand over the handcuff keys immediately, kneel, comply, or I swear, I'm gonna turn your brain to mush."
"Handcuff keys?"
Lin Beichen casually glanced at the Caucasian, leisurely responding, "Oh, so you're here for that kid? Come on, tell me, who sent you? What's your role? Are you mercenaries? Hitmen? Or something else? Explain clearly, and maybe I'll spare you a beating."
Lin Beichen spoke with ease, phone in his left hand, ordering food—clearly not taking the guy seriously.
And no wonder; with his current power, he could swat this guy like a fly, the situation under control, allowing him to behave nonchalantly.
Yet, this indifference felt like a blatant insult to the Caucasian.
"You damned yellow monkey, didn't you hear me demand you to kneel?" The Caucasian named Bruce snarled at Lin Beichen, "Kneel now, or I, Bruce, will show you what it feels like to have your skull shattered!"
With Bruce's roar, the crowd closed in, some taking photos, others eagerly watching, chattering away, or even outright yelling, ready to see the chaos unfold.
Lin Beichen frowned, his face darkened, as he stared at Bruce coldly, "What did you just say?"
"I told you to kneel now, you damned yellow monkey!" Bruce shouted at Lin Beichen, "Hand over the keys and kneel, or you'll ruin my deal for cash, and I'll..."
