Cohabitation with Sword Spirit-Chapter 348 - 85: I Saved Your Life, Yet You Insult Me?
The sword is a vicious weapon, meant for killing and conquest.
The Celestial Divine Sword is no exception, and its blade pierces all that stands in its path.
However, this Supreme Divine Sword, forged with the essence of Jiuzhou, is not solely a tool for slaughter. At its peak, the Sword World was truly a macrocosm, containing sun, moon, stars, mountains, rivers, plants, insects, fish, birds, and beasts, each with its unique purpose. For instance, the Kui Ox raised in the Myriad Spirits Hall provided exceptionally tender beef for supply.
During the Immortal Demon war, the Celestial Divine Sword led the Jiu Immortal Venerables into battle. When supplies were tight, the Sword World acted as a living logistics base, with its provisions ensuring that the nine Immortal Venerables could maintain their combat strength and continue to follow the Divine Sword.
Among the myriad uses of the Sword World were techniques to save lives.
The most immediate method involved directly transferring the purest of life energy into the wounded, prompting natural recovery from injuries.
The so-called life energy transcends the Five Elements, being one of the universe’s most mysterious and supreme forces, intrinsically connected to life and reincarnation. At the height of the Immortal Dao on the Jiuzhou Continent, only a few Immortal Venerables could barely touch this power.
However, the divine abilities of the Celestial Divine Sword far exceeded its peers. While slaying members of the Demon Race, it could directly seize their life energy, then, after battle, transfer the energy to wounded allies to perfectly heal their injuries.
As long as one was not killed on the spot, or the life energy stored in the Sword World was not exhausted, or the conversion capacity was not maxed out...one need not fear injury or death when following the Celestial Divine Sword into battle.
The first time the Celestial Divine Sword used this divine skill, it saved Rakugo from the Jiu Immortal Venerables.
The girl from Qing Province, momentarily bewildered by a demonic illusion on the battlefield, was separated from the main force within the Demon Realm. When Wang Jiu used the Demon-Pointing Sword to find the Demon Realm master’s location amidst the dense demonic fog, and struck to eliminate the Demon Realm, Rakugo was besieged by three Demon Generals, her vital organs shattered, half of her body gruesomely gnawed by Demon Ants.
When the others arrived to rescue her, what they found was a girl whose life was nearly extinct, holding onto just a thread of breath, with only the mud and ink mask on her face intact, while the rest of her was a ghastly sight. Her chest and below were entirely consumed, left with just a lone spine exposed beneath an empty chest cavity.
Such a tragic sight left the Immortal Venerables grieving yet helpless, as such grave injuries were beyond cure, and even miraculous elixirs for resurrecting flesh and bones could not restore an Immortal Body.
In despair, the Celestial Divine Sword pierced directly into Rakugo’s forehead—not to euthanize her—but to wholly infuse her with the life energy obtained from slaying the Demon Realm master.
In almost an instant, Rakugo’s body began to regenerate; on her bleached bones, muscles, blood vessels, and skin started to form anew. After the Celestial Divine Sword further harvested the lives of several Demon Generals on the battlefield, Rakugo received their life energy supplementation, becoming fully recovered and lively.
Upon awakening, her first words were.
"So this is what being ’penetrated’ feels like."
Curious, Wang Jiu asked what penetration meant, to which Rakugo explained, "It refers to releasing one’s pure life force into another’s body. It’s a kind of fashionable expression from Qing Province, and it perfectly describes your divine skill."
Wang Jiu admired the richness of Qing Province’s fashion culture, reflecting on how the term penetration was indeed succinct and nuanced. Despite Zhao Yuming and others opposing, he named his life-saving skill ’penetration’.
Interestingly, since then, the Jiu Immortal Venerables became more cautious during battles, rarely sustaining heavy injuries like Rakugo. Even when severely wounded, they sought miraculous elixirs rather than Wang Jiu’s help, seemingly fearing the sensation of penetration. When asked, they either claimed they didn’t want aid from the Demon Race or suggested the instant regeneration of their body was too terrifying and painful to endure if avoidable.
In truth, life energy bears no distinction between immortal and demon. Once seized by the Celestial Divine Sword, it naturally sheds demonic attributes, leaving no room for contamination. The process of healing from pure life energy infusion is painless. To this, Wang Jiu could only lament humanity’s inherently weak and backward nature, unable to possess the Celestial Divine Sword’s transcendent and objective perspective.
Nevertheless, Wang Jiu’s salvation method, penetration, resurfaced a millennium after the Immortal Demon war ended, saving the descendants of the former Immortal Venerables.
Looking at the square-faced man before him, Wang Jiu couldn’t help but sigh.
A little mishap, and he could have inadvertently killed Yuming’s descendant, if not for the man’s vigorous vomiting of blood which revealed to him the Zhao Family bloodline scent in this Boiling Blood region.
Though Zhao Yuming always had a strained relationship with her family and left no lineage, unfortunately dying in the decisive battle, the Zhao Clan survived the cataclysmic war.
And over these million years, things have changed dramatically, considering that the Zhao Clan, once known for their looks, now had descendants resembling bricks. Yuming would be overjoyed if she knew because she always had special care for less attractive relatives.
"Because only with more ugly green leaves can I shine more beautifully."
However, on the other hand, due to her overwhelming beauty, Zhao Yuming, at the height of her fame in Jiuzhou, constantly faced plastic surgery rumors. Her response was always just one sentence.
"If you can find a skilled artisan to match my level of beauty, I’ll pay you ten million Spirit Stones."
And that ten million Spirit Stones remained unclaimed by the end of the Immortal Demon war.
——
In any case, Wang Jiu, after much effort, managed to save the Zhao family descendant.
Thanks to the abundant demonized spirit monsters slaughtered earlier, he accumulated enough pure life energy to suppress the tofu face’s injuries. Yet, sending out that life energy meant half of Wang Jiu’s prior struggle was wasted.
The Celestial Divine Sword was born for the Immortal Demon war, hence the penetration skill is limited to extracting the Demon Race’s life energy. Times are different now; the Demon Race is extinct, and even subspecies Demon Essence are near-extinct rare protected creatures. By chance, Wang Jiu sensed a demon essence aura in the southern mountains of Shen City, decided on a whim to conduct a cleanse operation, and wiped out thousands of demons within hundreds of miles, gathering ample life energy.
This part of the resources, Wang Jiu initially intended to use as material for reconstructing the Sword World. With his current body being the White Sword and having to maintain his true form through Illusion Sword Technique for too long, he long sought to create a true body. However, after extensive evaluation, he hadn’t found ideal materials, as many Heavenly and Earthly Treasures became extinct after the Laws of Heaven and Earth shifted on the Xiangzhou Continent.
Yet, the life energy from slaying demons, with some refinement, could serve as excellent material for crafting flesh. Now, having shared some with Zhao Jincheng, Wang Jiu’s plan for a corporeal body had to be postponed.
Zhao Jincheng naturally understood this.
Even though the life-saving divine skill’s name sounded perverse, it didn’t lessen its miraculous mystery. Saving someone from certain death, Zhao Jincheng couldn’t believe there was no price for this feat.
Thus, at the first opportunity, Zhao Jincheng clarified his stance.
"Mr. Wang Jiu, I am endlessly grateful for your life-saving grace... Is there any way I can repay you?"
This was the principle his sister taught him: when you receive someone’s kindness, whether they need it or not, you must clearly express a desire to return the favor, as it’s a basic form of courtesy.
Zhao Jincheng paused and continued: "I am Zhao Jincheng, the younger brother of the City Lord of Golden Jade City. Although I am not holding a core position yet, and my cultivation is not among the top in Xiangzhou, through my sister’s connections, whatever you wish for, be it money or anything else, I will try my best to provide. And what the brother of the Golden Jade City Lord cannot afford, is scarcely found in Xiangzhou."
Afterwards, he quickly added: "I am merely expressing the sincerity of my gratitude, not boasting, so please do not misunderstand."
This is also a lesson from his sister: when expressing goodwill to someone, don’t beat around the bush; the clearer, the better, because there will always be those whose understanding is so poor it makes one doubt their Intelligence Index!
Hearing Zhao Jincheng’s words, Wang Jiu couldn’t help but frown.
"Why does it sound like... I’m being doubted for my Intelligence Index?"
