Clinging to Devoted Fiancé, Heiress Slays the World!-Chapter 944: Don’t Worry About Him, Go!
The gunmen aimed all their barrels at them, and yet they hadn’t noticed while talking just now!
The gunfire rang out simultaneously with Ji Wei’s voice, coming down on the three of them like raindrops. William, agilely dodging, was still a step too late; he was shot in the abdomen and rolled behind a nearby tree.
Gu Moqian protected Ji Wei and swiftly dodged.
The two of them frantically ran into the dark woods. The fallen branches and leaves underfoot caused Ji Wei to stumble several times, but fortunately, Gu Moqian caught her.
Rounds of gunfire trailed behind them, whizzing against trunks and leaves with sharp sounds. Several times Ji Wei thought she would be struck by a bullet.
They ran without knowing how far, and suddenly the gunfire behind them ceased.
Ji Wei was out of breath, her legs buckling as she leaned against a large tree, panting heavily. As she gasped for air, she glanced behind, into the pitch-black forest; no one was pursuing them, and there was no gunfire.
The pallor of her face finally eased a little.
"Can you keep going?" Gu Moqian reached out to support her.
"Mm..."
Ji Wei responded between breaths, still shaken by the shower of bullets aimed at them moments ago.
But her relief only lasted a second before tension gripped her anew. She exclaimed, "William, William didn’t seem to follow us!" 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
Before running, she had seen him roll behind a tree, seemingly injured!
Could he have been captured by those people?!
Ji Wei looked at Gu Moqian with panicked eyes, "Mo Qian, we can’t leave William behind; he came to save us."
Even though she never had a good impression of William, she didn’t want the burden of owing him a debt. If William died because of it, she might be wracked with guilt for a lifetime.
Her voice trembled slightly, and Gu Moqian understood her thoughts, nodding solemnly, "Alright, we’ll go back."
He extended his hand, firmly holding her cold, trembling fingers, guiding her step by step back.
When they pushed through the dense foliage and reappeared, Ji Wei immediately spotted William, barely alive, lying at Yamamoto Yu’s feet. His white suit was already stained largely with blood.
Her eyes turned red all of a sudden.
Her heart felt as if it were being violently clenched, making it hard to breathe.
Meanwhile, Yamamoto Yu, as if having anticipated their return all along, leaned leisurely on his cane, his sharp, deep-black eyes gazing calmly at the two.
Behind him, a line of subordinates stood alertly, holding their guns.
"Mr. Gu, Miss Ji, long time no see," Yamamoto Yu greeted them proactively.
Ji Wei stared at him coldly, "Let William go, this has nothing to do with him."
"But he’s from the Charles family," Yamamoto Yu said, lifting his cane to jab William hard in the back, "If I let him go, wouldn’t I even be unable to return to Tokyo? I’m getting old and would rather not die in a foreign land."
William groaned in pain, more blood gushing from his mouth.
The pain sharpened his senses a little. Struggling to open his eyes, he glanced in Ji Wei’s direction, a slight smile at the corner of his lips.
His gaze clearly said: Don’t mind him, go!
Ji Wei felt a stinging pressure in her eyes, a hazy mist forming over them. She forced back her tears and glared angrily at Yamamoto Yu, "I’ll say it again, let him go! This is between you and us, don’t drag innocent people into it!"
Yamamoto Yu smiled at Ji Wei, unmoved, seemingly appreciating her flushed, angry look.
With her brows arched in intense fury, she looked exactly like Wanfei.
