Clinging to Devoted Fiancé, Heiress Slays the World!-Chapter 916: I’ll Keep You Company
Mo Qian had just gotten into the car when his phone rang.
Seeing that it was Ji Wei calling, he answered without hesitation: "Still at the hospital? Wait for me, I’ll come to pick you up."
"Mo Qian, Mom has been gone since she left the hospital this morning and hasn’t returned. Her phone is off, she must still be mad at me. Can you send someone to look for her? I’m afraid something might happen to her." Ji Wei’s voice was tinged with urgency.
Mo Qian’s brow furrowed slightly and after a few seconds of contemplation, he spoke: "Okay, I’ll arrange it right away."
"By the way, you don’t need to come pick me up. I plan to stay at the hospital tonight."
With Nan Huiru not around, someone needed to stay overnight at the hospital.
"I’ll come to keep you company."
About half an hour later.
Mo Qian appeared at the entrance of the hospital room.
Upon hearing the commotion, Ji Wei immediately stood up, smiling as she took hold of his arm, "I told you there was no need to come, why are you insisting?"
Mo Qian had been working all day and was tired. She didn’t want him to exert himself further by coming to the hospital just to be with her.
The woman looked up at him, and although she spoke those words, Mo Qian could tell she was actually quite happy to see him.
Seeing the exhaustion etched onto Ji Wei’s delicate face, his eyes softened, filled with tenderness and concern.
She probably hadn’t left the hospital room for even a moment, had she?
Mo Qian raised his hand to gently touch Ji Wei’s smooth face, his finger pads sliding over her somewhat dry lips, lightly tracing their shape.
The man’s affectionate gesture caught Ji Wei off guard, and before she could react, the next moment she was pulled into his embrace. Mo Qian’s lips brushed against her soft hair as he murmured, "You’ve worked hard, Weiwei."
Warmth flooded Ji Wei’s heart as she pressed her face tightly against the sweater inside his coat.
The man’s warm breath enveloped her, as she shook her head with a smile in her eyes: "It’s not hard for me. I’ve been keeping watch over Dad for one day; Mom, on the other hand, has been doing it for over two hundred days and nights. She’s much more tired than I am."
Although Nan Huiru’s attitude towards herself had drastically changed, Ji Wei still deeply admired the effort and perseverance she had dedicated to her loved one.
After saying that, she slightly straightened herself from his embrace: "Is there any news about Mom?"
Mo Qian gazed down at her, "I sent someone to her apartment where she lives alone, but no one was found."
Concern tinged Ji Wei’s eyes, "It’s already dark, where could she have gone?"
"Don’t worry, my mom has been living here for almost ten years; she’ll be alright. And with her wit, even if she encounters any problems, she’ll find a way to contact us for help."
"Let’s hope so."
Recalling Nan Huiru’s attitude when she left, the smile on Ji Wei’s face gradually faded.
"Come eat something; you must be starving."
Mo Qian took her hand, leading her to the sofa.
He unpacked the meal he had brought from the five-star hotel and placed it on the coffee table. Ji Wei’s eyes lit up when she saw her favorite seafood.
As she devoured the food, she asked with her mouth full, "Have you eaten yet?"
"Just a little."
"You surely didn’t eat much." Ji Wei quickly saw through him and placed another set of bowl and chopsticks in front of Mo Qian, "Keep me company while eating, no refusals."
Seeing the seriousness in her expression, Mo Qian’s eyes crinkled with a smile as he nodded slowly, "Alright."
Unlike at lunch when she ate a takeout alone, now with Mo Qian beside her, Ji Wei found herself eating heartily and feeling quite satisfied.
"By the way, this afternoon, I talked to Dad about An An and you. His fingers moved again. I can feel his strong desire to wake up..."
As Mo Qian listened to her recount the day’s events at the hospital, he shelled shrimp for her, barely eating anything himself.
Outside, snowflakes gently started to fall. During this time, Mo Qian went out to take a few phone calls, but still, no news came about Nan Huiru.
