Clinging to Devoted Fiancé, Heiress Slays the World!-Chapter 694: Protector of Flowers
Jin Qichuan had been standing outside the restroom door, cigarette butts scattered at his feet.
He wanted to rush up and knock on the restroom door again and again, but each time he held himself back.
The frustration in his heart had nowhere to go, so he kept smoking incessantly.
When Gu Moqian stormed out with a cold expression on his face, Jin Qichuan immediately went up to him, but upon seeing the lipstick stain on his lips, the words he wanted to ask—whether he had bullied Ji Wei—got stuck in his throat.
Gu Moqian’s icy gaze swept over Jin Qichuan’s slightly pale, handsome face with a hint of warning and danger.
After pausing for just a moment, Gu Moqian kept walking and returned to the lively, bustling banquet hall.
Not long after, Ji Wei slowly came out, holding onto the door for support. When she lifted her eyes and saw Jin Qichuan still standing there, a hint of surprise flickered through her sorrowful expression.
"You..." Ji Wei wanted to say something but didn’t know where to begin.
She and Gu Moqian had been entangled in the restroom for as long as Jin Qichuan had been standing outside the door. Had he overheard their conversation?
The woman’s voice was a little hoarse, and Jin Qichuan, seeing her reddened eyes, felt a pang of heartache.
When he noticed the same lipstick mark at the corner of her lips, the hand at his side involuntarily curled slowly into a fist. After hesitating for a couple of seconds, he stepped forward, reached into the pocket of his suit, and pulled out a handkerchief, extending it toward her lips.
Ji Wei stared blankly at Jin Qichuan’s fair, slender hands. When she realized what he intended to do, her eyes shook suddenly.
A vivid memory flashed in her mind of her initiating the kiss with Gu Moqian in the restroom. Ji Wei’s heart clenched violently. She reached out and pinched the corner of the handkerchief, forcing a weak smile. "Thank you, I’ll wipe it myself." 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
Jin Qichuan gazed deeply at her for a moment before releasing his hold on the handkerchief.
Ji Wei took the handkerchief and rubbed her lips forcefully, as if trying to erase the traces of the earlier kiss entirely.
When she saw the bright red smudge on the light blue plaid handkerchief, her hand froze mid-motion and retracted abruptly. "I’ll take the handkerchief home, wash it, and return it to you later—is that okay?"
"Mm." Jin Qichuan didn’t object, nodding slightly in response. After a few seconds of pause, he suddenly asked, "Are you going back to the banquet hall now?"
Ji Wei shook her head, a trace of bitterness passing through her heart. "No, I want to go home. My child is still waiting there."
In truth, she simply didn’t want to go back inside and see Gu Moqian again.
"Driving alone at night isn’t safe. Let me take you." Jin Qichuan watched her fold the handkerchief neatly into a small square and held it in her palm, then offered.
Ji Wei lifted her eyes to look at him and shook her head. "No need. You still have people to entertain, I don’t want to delay your important matters."
"It won’t delay me," he replied without hesitation.
Ji Wei continued to refuse. "Really, there’s no need. I can drive myself just fine..."
Because she knew Jin Qichuan liked her, it was all the more reason she couldn’t accept his offer. She could never love this man; giving him even a sliver of hope would only deepen his wounds.
She didn’t like playing games with emotions. If there’s no love, she believed in rejecting decisively—it was better for both of them.
Jin Qichuan’s face stiffened slightly. After a few seconds of silence, he said, "Alright, I won’t force you. But at least let me walk you out of the hotel—how about that?"
Looking at the faint disappointment in his eyes, Ji Wei couldn’t bring herself to refuse again.
The two of them walked through the banquet hall toward the exit together.
Ji Wei deliberately kept her focus on walking, wanting nothing more than to leave the hall quickly and avoid giving herself the chance to search for Gu Moqian’s figure.
Jin Qichuan stayed close by her side.
A drunken male guest staggered and almost bumped into her, but Jin Qichuan stepped forward to push the man away and shielded Ji Wei protectively.
This moment happened to catch the eyes of some onlookers in the crowd.
Jin Qichuan seemed to be Ji Wei’s guardian angel.
Handsome in appearance, gentle in character, and at a young age, he had already achieved success in the business world.
It could be said that he was a worthy rival to Gu Moqian.
Watching the two of them leave the banquet hall together, a few socialites couldn’t help but start gossiping.
"What do you think Ji Wei and Mr. Jin left midway for? Could they be going to get a hotel room..."
