CLEAVER OF SIN-Chapter 607: Vampiric Features
The next moment, the door burst open, and a healer walked in, she was one of the healers of the Wargrave, stationed at the Wargrave estate. She stood at the Crownstar Life Rank, like Yveric, Azaron, and Malrik. A Sun had been said to be unconscious, there was no way the Wargrave wouldn’t make use of the best of the best.
She walked in without a change in expression, Jennifer’s red eyes meeting Lyra’s black ones for a brief moment, then she walked past her without another thought or a single word, her focus entirely on the unconscious Asher.
Jennifer had vampiric features in terms of pure beauty, she had long silver hair that flowed down her back, merely inches away from touching the ground. Her eyes were crimson red, the same shade as her lips, and her skin was a little paler than usual, but it complemented her beauty to an extreme degree, giving her an ethereal and almost unreal appearance.
Unlike many healers whose abilities were either limited to just physical healing or mental healing, Jennifer’s healing capabilities were a combination of both, and she could even take it a step further to sense emotions, that was how exceptional she was in her field.
She simply touched Asher’s forehead, and a golden light enveloped Asher’s body and mind at the same time as she began to assess the situation. Although Yveric had said Asher was physically fine, he wasn’t a healer at the end of the day, and Jennifer trusted only her own evaluation.
Normally, no matter how powerful Jennifer was, she shouldn’t be able to access Asher’s mind due to the protection of the system. But the system, this time, decided to take a step back, allowing Jennifer to access Asher’s mental state so that she wouldn’t make a fuss about being unable to examine him properly. Of course, if the system sensed anything out of place, it would immediately shut her out, after all, Asher could simply wake up and claim it was Virelass’s ability, and no one would doubt him.
After two seconds, she was done, swift and precise in her work, she turned to Lyra, "He is fine, he is simply exhausted," and with that, she walked out without uttering another word, her task complete.
At this moment, only Lyra remained within the room.
Two days passed in a blur, and Asher remained unconscious without any signs of waking up, but within those two days, Lyra hadn’t left her position, and Virelass didn’t return to Asher’s soul, she simply remained floating beside him in silent vigilance.
The next moment, Asher’s eyelids fluttered open, the first thing he noticed was the beautiful ceiling above him, he remembered seeing that exact same ceiling when he had first transmigrated into this world.
Asher’s eyes shifted to the side where Lyra was standing, her expression one of relief and worry, as he was about to speak to her, another voice echoed from within his room, "It seems the sleeping beauty is finally awake."
Hearing the familiar voice, Asher’s head snapped to the other side, and seated on a couch within his room was Malrik, his usual confident smile present, his perfectly arranged sleek blue hair and blue eyes suggesting that he possessed more power than the world might actually know, and on his waist hung his katana, Solaris.
"Big Brother," Asher called out in surprise. He didn’t remember teleporting to the Wargrave estate, no, he didn’t even remember teleporting at all. Asher didn’t doubt his memory, he knew how ridiculously sharp and reliable it was, which only meant Virelass was responsible, who was currently humming and floating beside him.
Asher sat upright, but before he could speak further, Malrik spoke again, "Leave us," he stated with a flat tone, his words directed towards Lyra.
Lyra, hearing Malrik’s words, simply ignored him and met Asher’s eyes. She didn’t work for Malrik, she was Asher’s personal maid, she only took orders from Asher and no one else, her loyalty I compromisable.
Asher, meeting Lyra’s gaze, simply nodded at her, without hesitation or delay, she bowed to Asher and Malrik and walked out without a word. Although she had been standing there for two days, waiting for Asher to wake up, Malrik had also been sitting on that same seat for two days, the moment he received word from Yveric, he had come rushing back, and remained in the same room with Lyra, waiting in silence.
Malrik was neither angry nor bothered that despite ordering Lyra, she had asked permission from Asher first, why would he be angry? Every Wargrave’s personal maid or butler was theirs to command. Even if the Duke commanded Malrik’s personal butler, Malrik had the right to overturn the Duke’s orders when it came to his own subordinate.
"How are you feeling?" Malrik asked the moment Lyra stepped out, although Asher had been declared fine, he still asked out of concern.
Asher stepped down from his bed, Virelass landing in his hand as he stroked her silver edges with his fingers as he spoke, "I’m perfectly fine," and indeed he was, he felt no exhaustion of any kind, his body and mind seemed as perfect as they could be, "How long was I unconscious?" he asked, as he walked towards the window of the room, the fresh breeze hitting his face as he stared out at the scenery beyond.
"Two days," Malrik answered without a change in expression.
’Two days, huh?’ Asher thought to himself, ’It seems the battle was more mentally draining than I thought. If it wasn’t for Virelass, I wonder what kind of danger I would have been exposed to while I was unconscious,’ he sighed as he shook his head at the thought.
"It seems you have a lot on your mind," Malrik stated calmly. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
At Malrik’s words, Asher’s thoughts shifted to that ’sick bastard’ called Debro, the moment he thought of the man, the memories of the battlefield came rushing back to him in vivid detail. A smile bloomed across his face the next moment as he remembered his rapier technique. He had finally created and used it in battle, and it had been as beautiful and perfect as he had imagined and crafted it to be.
Although Debro was a madman, at least he had been of some use, at least now, Asher had gotten his wish, a battle that pushed him to the very edge of his limits.
But Asher also understood another truth, the chasm of power between each upper rank was immense, far greater than he had initially anticipated. Throughout the battle, he had only injured Debro once by catching him off guard through a calculated strategy, and he had also killed the man using that same method. Without it, Asher knew he might never have won that battle.
Winning against a Radiant Wavestar Life Ranker didn’t make him arrogant, instead, it made him more vigilant and aware. After all, Debro had displayed the resourcefulness of beings and veterans at his level, showing him just how dangerous such opponents could be.
Asher’s mind shifted towards the hundred and twenty kilometers he and Debro had wiped out into oblivion. Such a scale of power was truly immense, even Asher himself hadn’t realized he possessed such destructive capability until that very moment.
But a question lingered persistently in his mind, if he was already this powerful, how strong was someone like Wuthenya, or even Yveric? How strong was the man who called himself Malrik, and how strong was the Duke himself? Asher’s mind couldn’t help but imagine the overwhelming power these individuals held within their human forms, power that certainty dwarfed his own current strength.
’It seems there is still a long way to go,’ Asher sighed at the thought, his gaze fixed on the horizon as his ambition burned quietly within him.
