Classless Awakening; My Dragon Is Legendary-Chapter 54: Dragonic transformation
Nullspire’s glow spread a chilling terror through the beasts.
One second, Derrick was standing before them. The next all they saw was a blur of motion.
Derrick was using the Nullspire’s skills to amplify his speed and strength, and with the increased mastery over the past month, he was on a whole new level.
Derrick’s slices were fast and precise, a few steps away from godlike. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
He dodged the claws of both beasts in midair, using his airstep to propel himself.
He swung his sword, releasing a wide 360 degree slash that cut both beasts simultaneously.
Derrick’s body descended gracefully, as soon as his feet made contact with the ground, his body propelled forward at an inhuman speed.
Not only was he using the Nullspire’s active skills, his Varyn and dragon flash were boosting his speed.
Derrick’s previous strike had done a number on the monsters, but it was nothing too much for them to handle.
They both fired beams from their mouths, all aimed at Derrick, who easily evaded them.
Derrick leaped into the air, using his step to stabilize himself, allowing him to continue moving at immense speeds.
He gathered so much energy in Nullspire that it began to whistle.
He swung his sword with all his strength, releasing a massive milky colored arc which cleaved the beast in two.
Derrick fell to the ground, he rolled away from the attack of the other beast.
Without hesitation, his body launched once more, his mind hell-bent on dealing with the second beast.
Projectiles of different origins cut through the air, but Derrick dodged them all easily, his mind worked at inhuman speeds.
Eventually, Derrick was at the foot of the beast, he didn’t leap into the air. This time, he tried to use his size to his advantage.
A small milky glow extended out of Nullspire, giving the blade a longer and sharper edge.
He swung his blade, cleaving the beast’s leg in one fell swoop.
The beast instantly lost its balance, its body tilted forward, its descent rapid.
The beast fell to the ground, sending a powerful shockwave which sent nearby loose objects flying.
Derrick jumped on its back and began running atop it, aiming to cleave its head.
Derrick’s blade descended upon the beast, unraveling every fiber of its being, until it finally severed the head.
Derrick flipped masterfully, landing with a small roll to dissipate the force.
He planted his feet firmly on the ground, sending him backwards.
Nullspire’s skills had finally come to an end, resetting his speed and strength.
[Stay calm!]
Derrick was genuinely struggling, his heart was racing, but he needed to remain calm, because he was heavily relying on his sword skills.
Both beasts rose from the ground once more. This time, a few upgrades had been made.
Derrick stared at them with an exhausted look.
Derrick’s eyes scanned through the forest, he dragged his small body forward, his eyes locked onto the targets.
A system message appeared before him once more, and this time it was a quest to defeat both beasts.
Derrick didn’t pay any attention to it, the slightest excitement or change could force his vision back to normal.
Both beasts now had what looked like canons mounted on their shoulders and their chest.
In their mouths was a small green glow, one Derrick had come to recognize as the beam of energy they fired from their mouths.
Derrick moved haphazardly, unwilling to wait for an attack.
Both beasts fired their cannons and lines appeared in Derrick’s vision.
Derrick followed the patterns of the lines, allowing him to evade the attacks masterfully.
He swung his sword, and this time something strange happened.
Derrick’s blade went right through it. He didn’t cut it, he didn’t even graze it, it was almost as if Nullspire phased through the beast.
Derrick’s brain lagged for a second, he was unable to process what had just happened.
While he was still asking himself questions, the ground underneath his feet buckled.
Derrick acted fast, he regained his composure and used his Air step to remain afloat while the ground collapsed in on itself.
’What the hell?’ Derrick asked himself, every step of this fight, these beasts had always been a step ahead of him.
One of the beasts stretched its hand, and from its fingers, long, sharp vines protruded.
Derrick tried to slice the vines, and once again the phenomenon repeated itself, but this time he could see it.
His sword didn’t go through it. No, the intertwined greenery in the vines undid themselves around Nullspire and quickly formed.
The beasts were dismantling themselves around the sword, allowing them to remain unharmed.
Derrick’s brain quickly changed strategies, he turned around to run, but before he could get far, the vine slammed into his back.
The vine hit him, shattering the scales around his back and leaving a deep cut that had already begun healing.
Derrick’s body was knocked out of the air, and thankfully the ground had been remade.
His body skidded across the floor, the scales around his chest took the brunt of the force, protecting him from the damage.
Derrick’s vision returned to normal, panic had set in.
He couldn’t fathom a way to rescue himself from this situation. How could he beat what he couldn’t touch?
Derrick could hear the beasts approaching, and the first thing that came to his mind was to hide.
He slid behind a boulder, his heart pounding against his chest.
His breath was ragged, and slowly his vision began to return to normal.
[Increased heart rate.]
[Draconic transformation lurks...]
Derrick closed his eyes, trying to calm himself. He was more scared of the dragonic transformation than anything.
In the past month, Derrick had spent some time struggling with his Dragonic transformation.
Whenever he got too scared, or too angry, or was in an emergency situation, the system message popped up.
Derrick breathed in and out, trying to calm himself.
Dragonic transformation was a definite no for Derrick.
Whenever it lingered, Derrick could slowly feel himself about to lose control.
It started with a tingling sensation at the back of his head, and then he could feel his consciousness slipping.
He didn’t know what it would be like to lose control, if he would harm those around him, or even worse, himself.
Derrick took in even deeper breaths, trying to calm himself, but the beasts didn’t give him that luxury.
Five sharp vines pierced into his body through his back.
[Critical damage has been inflicted.]
[Heart has been punctured.]
[Lungs have been punctured.]
[Kidneys have been punctured.]
Derrick’s eyes widened in shock, he stared at his body, and confirmed the system information.
There were five vines sticking out of his body, they had barely managed to break through the scales in front of his chest.
Derrick winced in pain, the taste of blood rapidly filled his mouth.
[Critical health has been reached.]
[Healing and regeneration has kicked in.]
Derrick’s body was working overtime, trying whatever it could to keep him alive, but Derrick knew it was futile.
Five more vines pierced into his lower body, and before he could even process, they began spinning rapidly.
His body rose into the air, lifted like it was nothing but a piece of trash.
The beasts slammed the vines into the ground along with Derrick’s body, breaking most of his bones and slightly fracturing his skull.
Derrick’s vision was distorted. It first went black, and then red, before returning to normal.
A barrage of indistinguishable system messages appeared in his line of sight.
His mind had already slipped, the pain too great for him to bear.
Images flashed through Derrick’s head, from his mother being ripped to shreds before him, to Royal Knight laying on the infirmary bed.
His heartrate increased, anger, pain, and determination rushed through him, he steeled his resolve, and it was then he saw it.
[Dragonic transformation activated.]
