Clan Prosperity Starting With My Servant Girls-Chapter 264: Getting Ready
Lin Xuan Qi read what was written on the paper and it wasn’t too much of a hassle.
There were silk, wine, taels of silver and also gifts for the bride like the five gold that Zhang Jie had already prepared for him.
"I shall get it done by today."
He nodded his head and excused himself to get everything ready, leaving Xue Cong and Yue Jie with Madam Sai.
Madam Sai waved her handkerchief at him and said, "Take your time, I might have to take a long time to get them ready."
She glanced at her helpers behind her who were carrying some wooden chests.
Lin Xuan Qi let them be and left the main hall.
Xue Cong and Yue Jie weren’t too sure what would happen but Madam Sai came over to them, held their hands and said, "First, let me go through the sequence of the events for tomorrow.
"Master Lin would be outside of the mansion with his wedding procession.
"Usually, the groom would set off from his place to the bride’s, but in your case, it would be done ceremoniously.
"Both of you would stay inside your bedroom until it is the auspicious time and he would ask your parents for your hands.
"And after they agree, he would be able to see both of you again.
"Then, you get to pray to the heavens and offer tea to your parents."
Xue Cong and Yue Jie nodded to what Madam Sai had said.
When Madam Sai saw that they understood, she clapped her hands and her helpers brought two wooden chests up to her.
They opened it and inside them were red wedding dresses made of silk, and had a long, elaborately embroidered silk head scarf draped over the shoulders.
It was the most luxurious clothes Xue Cong and Yue Jie had seen before.
Yue Xin couldn’t help herself and got close to have a look.
She felt happy for her sister and longed for the day that she would be able to wear something like it soon.
Liu Shi Shi, on the other hand, stood silently and glanced at the wedding dress from afar.
The other servants were also envious of Xue Cong and Yue Jie, marveling at how good looking the wedding dresses were.
And most importantly, they were envious of the luck that Xue Cong and Yue Jie had.
"And now, it’s time for both of you to try it on." Madam Sai said and waved her handkerchief at Xue Cong and Yue Jie.
They nodded their heads and stood up.
Xue Cong led them to her room to try out the wedding dress and they followed her.
The others that weren’t involved quickly got back to their work to make sure that they didn’t mess it up for Lin Xuan Qi on his big day.
...
Meanwhile, when it got busy in the mansion, Lin Xuan Qi was out on his horse carriage to get everything that was listed on the piece of paper.
When the horse carriage got through the street where Luo Bao’s stall was, he asked the coachman to stop.
The coachman obliged and the horse carriage stopped by the side of the street.
"It’s you... long time no see young master." Luo Bao was surprised to see him again after so long and especially after the rebellion.
No one knew how those that disappeared were doing.
Their own survival had mattered more.
And when Luo Bao saw Lin Xuan Qi get out from the horse carriage, he figured out that he was in fact a young master.
Lin Xuan Qi gave him a smile and said, "Give me two of the meat buns."
He didn’t know why but he felt like having some at that moment.
"Two meat buns coming right up." Luo Bao opened the cover of the bamboo steamer and picked out two meat buns for him.
Lin Xuan Qi paid him the two copper coins and said, "Glad to see you again."
Luo Bao nodded and gave him a smile back and replied, "I’m glad too, come frequent the stall more often."
"I will." Lin Xuan Qi waved at him with his hand while he headed back to his horse carriage.
To which, Luo Bao was happy for him to be doing so well.
He could still remember how Lin Xuan Qi was dressed when he came to his meat bun stall.
No one would take him for the young master he was now. Well dressed and traveling in a horse carriage manned with guards and servants.
He couldn’t help it and gave out a sigh at how much had changed.
For Lin Xuan Qi and himself.
His family was lucky enough to survive the rebellion unscathed but it wasn’t the same for his neighbors.
"Give me one meat bun!" A customer shouted at him and he snapped out from his thoughts and opened the cover of his bamboo steamer again.
Such was the life for him.
Lin Xuan Qi munched on the meat bun and the taste brought back memories for him.
He reminisced about the day where he had gotten the meat bun for Xue Cong.
And after that, it was for Yue Jie and Yue Xin.
He also recalled how he teased them at first.
And especially the time he had asked them to hit him to test out the system’s reward of him being unbeatable within the compounds of the mansion.
Little did he know back then that Xue Cong and Yue Jie would be his wife and concubine soon.
He didn’t know what would change and what he should expect out of it but one thing that he was sure of was that, his Lin Clan was finally moving on to the next stage.
With his business stable, and having family members in the clan, it was time for more expansion for the Clan.
In terms of finance, scions and also cultivation.
While the horse carriage moved towards the next destination, Lin Xuan Qi looked out from the window of the horse carriage and the scenes passed by with the pedestrians rubbing their hands and blowing out white mist.
After some traveling, the horse carriage stopped and he got down to make his purchases.
It was cold outside but he felt warm and ready for the future.
