Chapter 360: 360: Updated*

As soon as he left the chamber, he headed straight for the barren hill.

The barren hill had nothing except for a mansion which is being used as a quarter for both him and his master.

He had barely taken a few single steps when a group of girls blocked his path.

Fang Yuan stopped in his track as he looked up to see who they were.

Zhu Xian stood at the center, a pale blindfold covering her eyes. Several female disciples flanked her on either side, their expressions cold and unwelcoming.

Every single one of them stared at him as if he were some mortal enemy.

Fang Yuan paused only for a short moment before immediately turning around and walked the other way.

"Junior disciple Fang Yuan," Zhu Xian called out calmly but he ignored her and continued on.

Two of the girls moved in a blur, activating their techniques and landing directly in front of him, cutting off his escape.

"Your Senior Sister is calling you," one of them said coldly.

"Are you deaf?"

Fang Yuan stopped and looked at them.

"Yes," he replied plainly. "What do you want?"

The two girls got taken aback but then they quickly react and asked.

"...Huh? If you’re deaf, how did you understand what she said?"

"I’m deaf, not blind," Fang Yuan answered smoothly. "I can read lips."

The girls looked at each other, lost for words.

By then, Zhu Xian had already walked over, despite taking her time with it.

"Junior disciple Fang Yuan," she said slowly.

"Would you like to have a duel with me?"

Fang Yuan looked at her and then frowned.

"...You want fuel?" he asked.

"With me? How does that work?"

Zhu Xian’s brow twitched but she still replied calmly,

"You’re awfully being disrespectful to your senior sister. Stop acting like a fool."

Fang Yuan looked up and then looked at her, "I’ve no idea what you’re talking about senior sister."

"Junior brother," she said, her tone suddenly courteous,

"Won’t you grant me this request and have a duel with me? How about this, the loser will have to grant one with for the winner. It can be anything you want. What do you say?"

’Now you should be tempted’, she thought calmly.

’There’s no way you two brothers are truly that different.’

"No." Fang Yuan instantly respond and left right away.

The girls instantly stirred their spiritual qi as they prepared to give chase but before any of them could move, Zhu Xian raised a single hand.

"That’s fine, leave him be," she said calmly. "Let’s go. We still need to meet Senior Brother."

They looked at one another and then slowly withdrew their qi and fell back into formation, following as Zhu Xian turned and walked away.

As they moved, Zhu Xian lifted her index finger, resting it lightly against her lips, the curve of her hand forming a loose C-shape.

Her steps remained steady, but her thoughts were anything but.

Fang Yuan... Fang Tian...

What is it that you two brothers actually want?

"Senior Sister," one of the younger girls asked carefully from beside her, "are you alright?"

Zhu Xian’s steps halted for a fraction of a breath and then snapped out of it.

"I’m fine," she replied with a gentle smile appearing on her lips.

The disciple was instantly satisfied with the answer.

She even brightened up and said with enthusiasm,

"If you’re worried about that jerk who dared to reject you, Senior Sister, just say the word. I’ll go beat him up for you."

Zhu Xian turned toward her voice and laughed softly.

"Oh? My junior sister wants to protect me?" she teased warmly. "How cute."

She reached out and rubbed the girl’s head lightly.

The disciple stiffened for a second before flushing with pride.

"Senior Sister, we can help too!" another girl chimed in quickly.

"That’s right," a third added. "If anyone dares offend you, we won’t let it slide."

"Just give the order," someone else said earnestly. "We’re all willing to do anything to protect you."

Zhu Xian listened to their overlapping voices, her smile deepening into a curve.

"...Then I’ll be in your care," she said softly.

The girls straightened instantly, as if they had just been entrusted with a sacred duty.

Amidst the lively chatter, Zhu Xian turned her head slightly, back toward the path Fang Yuan had taken moments earlier.

She lingered there for just an instant and then she smiled again.

"Alright, girls," she said lightly. "We don’t have all day, let’s get going. Lead the way."

The disciples moved ahead, energized, still whispering among themselves.

At the very rear, one girl slowed her steps unconsciously.

She glanced back, confusion flickering across her face as she watched Zhu Xian’s retreating figure.

What was she looking at?

Was something there?

The girl lowered her voice to a whisper only she could hear.

"Sometimes," she murmured, "I wonder if I’m the one who’s blind... and not her."

Meanwhile, at the barren hill, Fang Yuan sat inside his room and stared at the system screen.

[ Host: Fang Yuan ]

[ Root: Heavenly Root ]

[ Status: Ex Patriach of the Fang Family, a Transmigrator, Alive ]

[ Realm: Initial Hollow Spirit Realm ]

Tsk, even after arriving into this new world, I’ve barely begun my cultivation... At this rate I’d be stuck here forever.

He leaned back, stretched his arms, then let his gaze slide to the other side of the interface.

[ Faith Points: -159,000 ]

Five days ago, it had been -320,000.

Now it was already down to -159,000.

That was... genuinely good news.

It meant that even without him present, Lin Zhaoyue was managing the Fang Clan so well that she was still generating enough faith to steadily reduce his debt.

A stupid, uncontrollable smile crept onto his face.

"...Ahh," he muttered softly, "I’m so proud of you, Zhaoyue."

Right then—

[ Ding! Since the connection to the lower realm has been severed, your tie to the Fang clan has been blocked. ]

[ Host, you should start earning faith point in this new realm unless you want to face the penalty. ]

"...Huh? What?! Was it because I smiled?!"
