Clan Building System: I'm not the Protagonist?!-Chapter 353- Your Name.
Soaring Dragon Sect.
Qin Shi Huang stood in silence, his gaze fixated on the youth before him.
The Fang Tian in front of him bore no resemblance to the one who was thoroughly thrashed at the Flying Crane Sect through the hands of Fang Yuan.
Instead, his complexion was completely healthy, even his breathing was steady, it was as if there wasn’t even the slightest trace of injury on his body.
"Why did you fake your defeat?"
Qin Shi Huang finally asked, although his voice was calm, but Fang Tian knew better than to look at it at face value.
Fang Tian lifted his head and met his master’s gaze yet there was no hesitation whatsoever in his eyes.
"I want to kill him," he said slowly.
"With my own two hands."
Qin Shi Huang studied him in silence.
To kill him with his own two hands...
If that was truly Fang Tian’s goal, then the battle with Fang Yuan had never been a contest to begin with, it had been a farce.
"So you believe losing," Qin Shi Huang said slowly, "was the better option than winning?"
Fang Tian lowered himself fully to his knees.
"Yes, Master," he replied without hesitation.
"I intend to lull him into lowering his guard and then strike when he’s at his most vulnerable."
Qin Shi Huang’s gaze darkened.
"I’m afraid you won’t be able to find such an opportunity any time soon," he said calmly.
Fang Tian lifted his head.
His eyes were sharp, burning with resolve, as he met his master’s gaze head-on.
"Then I’ll make one."
A soft sigh escaped Qin Shi Huang.
"...Very well," he said at last.
"You may use the Shadow Legion as you see fit to see your goal through."
Fang Tian’s eyes widened, genuine shock flashing across his face.
The Shadow Legion.
They were the best there was within the Soaring Dragon Sect. They were the personal guard for Qin Shi Huang, his master.
Every single member was at the Hollow Spirit Realm cultivator.
Fang Tian had witnessed them in action once.
They had erased an entire renowned family aligned with the Emperor, cleanly, that till now the emperor was still sending his people out looking for clues.
Each member of the Shadow Legion was terrifying on their own and together, they were a calamity.
They did not hesitate to self-detonate if it meant dragging their enemies down with them.
That was what made them truly frightening.
They held no regard for their own lives.
Fang Tian’s shock quickly turned into blazing excitement.
He bowed deeply, lower than before.
"I will not disappoint you, Master," he said firmly.
"I’ll make sure I surpass your expectations."
Qin Shi Huang gave a single nod.
"Go."
Fang Tian rose and withdrew from the hall.
Back on the great barren hill of Flying Crane sect.
Fang Yuan bent down and dug his fingers into the loose soil.
Next he sprinkled a few seeds carefully, covering them before preparing to move on to the next patch.
The mountain slope stretched endlessly before him.
At first, the work had been miserable.
His sealed dantian made even the simplest movements exhausting.
Every bend sent a dull ache through his body, every step felt heavier than the last.
But time had a way of sanding down resistance.
Thirteen days passed and by the fifteenth morning, Fang Yuan no longer needed to think about it.
His hands started to move on their own and his breathing grew steady as if he had gotten the hang of it.
Just a little longer, he thought as he pressed soil over another seed.
Today will be the last day.
By nightfall, his cultivation would be unsealed.
And with qi flowing once more, finishing the rest of the mountain would finally become... tolerable.
He straightened slightly, rolling his shoulders.
That was when footsteps crunched softly behind him.
A woman approached from the mountain path, robes clean and untouched by dirt.
She glanced around at the vast hillside, rows upon rows of freshly tilled earth, her brows knitting together in confusion.
She turned toward Fang Yuan.
"Hello, junior brother," she asked hesitantly.
"May I ask... where is the master of this hill?"
Fang Yuan turned to face her.
He didn’t recognize her, of course he wouldn’t.
It hadn’t even been a full month since he entered the sect.
He quickly wiped his hands on his robes and bowed politely.
"Senior Sister," he said respectfully,
"the elder you’re looking for can usually be found where the wine is vast."
The woman blinked.
"...Huh? What do you mean?"
Fang Yuan looked up and cleared his throat.
"Ahem— I mean," he corrected himself, "she’s down there drinking."
He pointed downward along the slope.
The woman followed his gesture, leaned forward slightly, then frowned.
"No," she said with certainty. "She’s not there."
Fang Yuan blinked and looked back at her.
"Of course she wouldn’t be within visible distance," he replied matter-of-factly.
"She’s farther—"
The woman cut in, brows knitting together.
"But the direction you’re pointing toward..." she hesitated, then said carefully,
"...that’s the prison."
Fang Yuan froze.
"...The prison?"
Now it was his turn to be confused.
With his qi sealed, he couldn’t spread his divine sense to check what actually lay in that direction.
All he had done was point vaguely downhill, toward where Zhao Lusi vanished after giving him his task.
He looked at the woman again.
Am I really pointing at a prison? Is she... the type who takes everything at their literal meaning? he wondered silently.
"She’s at the mortal realm," Fang Yuan finally said.
"Likely at one of the inn drinking wine. Make sure you see through every inn."
At this point, being direct felt safer.
The woman looked at him, then nodded slowly.
"Thank you," she said. "May I have your name, junior brother?"
Fang Yuan looked at her and smiled faintly.
"No," he replied. "You may not have my name."
She stared at him, clearly confused while Fang Yuan sighed inwardly.
That was such a clever response... and you didn’t even catch it.
"...Never mind," he muttered a bit dissapointed.
Her eyes brightened in understanding or what she thought was understanding.
She bowed politely.
"Thank you, Junior Brother Nevermind," she said earnestly.
"I’ll see you again."
Before Fang Yuan could react she was already gone.
He stood there in silence, staring at the empty space where she had been.
