Clan Building System: I'm not the Protagonist?!-Chapter 268- Fourway [1]
Fang Yuan snapped the book shut, and then with a flick of his fingers, he began sweeping the wings into his spatial ring.
Regarding the live sacrifice... he was gonna find a material as a replacement which could be considered later, for now, he was just gonna take what needs to be taken.
In less than two minutes, the vast treasury stood bare as not even a feather was left to float the air.
Fang Yuan cast one last glance across the treasury as he made sure there was not a trace of what once had been a vault of generations.
A faint curl of satisfaction tugged at his lips.
"Well," he murmured, hands clasped behind his back, "that’s that."
With a quiet smile, he turned on his heel and strode out of the hall, leaving behind only silence where the Feng Clan’s wealth had once stood proud.
He moved at an unhurried pace, hands folded behind his back, each step carrying him towards the library while he lost himself in his own mind.
With the Feng Clan treasury thoroughly cleaned out and ’safely stored’ away in his spatial ring, there was little left to hold his attention here.
Now that everything was done, all he needs to do was now return back to the Fang Family.
Lin Zhaoyue’s absence had left the family vulnerable, and even if he had put up a barrier, he wasn’t quite sure the barrier would hold up.
At least he had added a formation which would remind him the moment the barrier was attacked.
Since he wasn’t an expert on formation, the reminder worked if any side attacked, even a normal animal, but that was the best he could do so he stick with it.
A minute was all it would take to appear back home once he was reminded so Fang Yuan wasn’t really that worried...
A smirk tugged at his lips as he was like a literal god within this world... moving at the speed of light with no one capable of stopping him.
Although... his expression suddenly shifted at the remembrance of Xiao Bai... that witch fists, her absurd resilience.
That woman healed at a rate that defied reason, flesh knitting faster than logic allowed.
Fang Yuan grimaced, then chuckled softly to himself.
I just finished off a man who grew back limbs as fast as I cut them. If I had been serious back then, she wouldn’t have lasted even half as long. The notion pleased him, yet he knew the truth, he was afraid back then, so afraid that he negotiated terms instead.
Besides, his so-called "benevolence" during that battle had earned him a body refinement technique he’d otherwise never touch. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
Cowardice? No.. it was all a calculated profit. Even if the deal had been slanted, especially considering nascent soul cultivators were supposed to receive such things straight from the current king of they had simply paid a visit.
Still, Fang Yuan couldn’t deny it had been worth the trouble.
By the time his thoughts stilled, he was already standing before the library’s grand entrance.
He blinked at the sudden realization, lips quirking into a crooked smile.
"Hm... I probably have short attention span," he muttered, half amused at himself, half resigned, before stepping inside.
He stepped into the library, his gaze sweeping across the empty shelves.
Everything was empty, every last scroll and tome had been cleared out.
And In the center of the hall sat Fang Mei, cross-legged in lotus position with a cultivation book open before her.
Without a word, Fang Yuan spread his divine sense, weaving a protective barrier around her like a second skin, ensuring no stray disturbance would reach her.
He lowered himself beside her, mirroring her lotus posture and then started to meditate.
In the meantime, far to the north, deep in the shadowed sprawl of the Dark Forest.
A pack of Saberfangs were racing through the underbrush. At their head strode a peak nascent soul Saberfang and on its broad back sat Lin Zhaoyue.
Beside the pack of four full-grown Saberfangs she had before, today she had loped a smaller shape, a cub, barely weaned yet already baring fangs that gleamed with immense qi.
Perched just behind Lin Zhaoyue was Xiao Pei, his posture stiff, knuckles white as he clutched the beast’s coarse fur.
His eyes darted nervously between the Saberfangs that flanked them.
"How... how did you tame them?" he stammered, voice tight with unease.
Lin Zhaoyue tilted her head, her long hair catching the wind as she mused aloud. "Tame them? I don’t know, it just happened. Maybe it’s just in my blood..."
She tapped a finger to her lips, feigning thought. Then her eyes sparkled with mischief. "Or maybe it’s because I’m beautiful."
A sly smile crept across her face. "Hmm... maybe I should test it on my husband when I get back. I wonder what I should wear..."
She was already daydreaming about her wardrobe, ignoring the terrified look plastered across Xiao Pei’s face.
He snapped his mouth shut and cast a pleading glance toward Du Juan, who sat behind them.
She met his gaze with a serene smile, leaning slightly closer as her voice dropped to a whisper meant only for him.
"Don’t worry," she murmured, "once we revive my sister, I’ll wear that apron naked—just for you."
Xiao Pei’s face went crimson in an instant, blood rushing to his ears.
He jerked his gaze away, staring stiffly ahead, while Du Juan’s smile deepened with quiet amusement.
His grip tightened on the Saberfang’s fur as the wind rushed past him.
His cheeks burning from Du Juan’s whisper, but his mind drifted back, back to how this madness even began.
It had only been a few days ago. He and Du Juan had been traveling toward the Fang Estate, their long journey finally coming to an end.
The familiar gates of the Fang Estate had came into view while the great barrier was shimmering faintly in the sunlight.
He’d been just steps away from entering, when the person he wants to avoid appeared in front of him.
