Claiming My Possessive CEO Husband-Chapter 894 - : The Gift from the Overbearing CEO
Chapter 894: Chapter 894: The Gift from the Overbearing CEO
The Mamet Corporation’s official account responded: “Hello to all netizens, we would like to clarify that the people in the photos are our CEO and his wife. The claim that there’s an affair going on is a product of mischief. We’ve already sent legal notices to those slandering our CEO and Mrs. Mamet. We ask everyone to approach this matter rationally and refrain from making baseless comments.”
Actually, Xaviera didn’t really care about this issue. She was more concerned about another matter. She quickly asked, “Albert, did I ever leave you guys for a period of time when I was a child?”
Albert Sullivan thought carefully, “Of course! You loved to wander about since you were young. Grandpa didn’t feel at ease when you were still small. But when you grew older, he didn’t meddle as much. You pursued whatever you took a liking to and hence, you started spending more and more time away from us. I’m not sure which time you’re referring to.”
Xaviera went on to ask: “Was there ever a time when I came back acting strangely, as if I lost my memory?”
Upon hearing Xaviera’s words, Caleb Mamet sitting in a chair slowly looked up and glanced her way.
Albert, however, promptly answered: “Amnesia? How could that be? If you had amnesia, we’d definitely know!”
...
Xaviera felt a dull pain in her heart. She thought of the scenes from her dreams, which felt terrifyingly real. Was it really just a dream, or was it a remnant of a memory in her mind? But Albert would never lie to her. If Albert said nothing had happened, then either she really hadn’t lost her memory, or he was kept in the dark as well.
After hanging up the phone, Xaviera was lying on the bed when she suddenly caught a whiff of a pleasing aroma. Looking up, she saw Caleb holding a tray with a bowl of seafood porridge and a couple of small dishes. He put the tray on the side table, brought the bowl to her side, scooped up a spoonful of the porridge, and blew on it before bringing it to her mouth. She opened automatically, and the warm porridge rich in the aroma of seafood filled her mouth, instantly warming her body.
“We were photographed in the supermarket?” Caleb asked her quietly.
Xaviera furrowed her brows and protruded her mouth unhappily: “Had you not messed up things in the private room, would I have to wear a scarf and sunglasses? And now people are mistaking me as the mistress.”
She looked wronged, and complained: “People are saying I’ve been dumped and that Mrs. Mamet is a discarded wife of the wealthy. There are even more outrageous rumors saying we’re already divorced, and anyone has a shot at becoming Mrs. Mamet.”
Caleb remained expressionless, a slight smile on the corners of his lips: “Don’t mind the rumors.”
Xaviera frowned: “How could I possibly not care? Frankly, I don’t care what they say about me, but I absolutely can’t stand them saying you’re a cheat. Everyone knows how much you love me and that you hate seeing me wronged, but people are still accusing you of being a scum man. Even my brother Albert was so angry he said he wanted to poison you.”
“They are clearly just envious of you for being handsome and wealthy, exaggerating any little fault of yours. But what they don’t know is how much effort you’ve put in behind the scenes. Instead, they credit all your achievements to you being the son of the Mamet family.”
Xaviera felt indignant on his behalf, but Caleb didn’t seem to care at all. He replied calmly: “These are just netizens who get caught up easily in hearsay; there’s no need for you to get angry about it. People who hate me will find a way to do so no matter what explanation I give, and those who like me won’t defame me because of rumors. So there’s no need to explain, you don’t need to read these useless posts either. They will just affect your mood.”
“But…”

“Xaviera,” Caleb interrupted her with a smile: “Those are strangers who’ve never met us; their opinion of us isn’t important. To them, we’re just something to gossip about, soon enough there will be new gossip.”
Caleb glanced at his phone and spoke softly: “Finish your food and get some rest. I have a meeting tomorrow morning and won’t be able to accompany you to Natural Sound Headquarters. But I’ve prepared a gift for you. I believe you’ll like it.”
Perhaps other men would offer a ring or a bouquet of flowers as a gift. But Caleb was blunt and forthright, and he gave her a whole company. Indeed, a powerful CEO had a magnanimous style.
At the onset of Natural Sound Entertainment, Caleb had once mentioned that the company belonged to a friend and was just temporarily under the Mamet Corporation’s name. Once the friend returned, it would be given back to her. The company has thrived over the years and is now managed by Caleb’s younger brother, Yigol Mamet. It’s unlikely it will be returned to that friend.
But no one expected that not long after the new year, Caleb announced that Natural Sound would be separating from the Mamet Corporation to merge with Windrop Entertainment. At that time, the new CEO would surface to handle all operations of both companies. This news shocked the entire entertainment industry as the merger of these two top-notch domestic companies was an unprecedented event.
