Chapter 11: The Dating Proposal

Kiana’s Pov; 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺

The next morning, I woke up to various notifications on my phone. The pictures had already begun spreading again like wildfire. This time around it began from an anonymous forum.

It was pictures of Mordred hitting Maddox and his boys Infront of me.Captioned,

" When your boyfriend gets to know he’s not the only one in your life."

And the comments were brutal, some were cursing me out. Others called me Shameless, whilst some also called me a pathetic whore.

Pathetic whore? Even if they were right, nobody has the right to judge me.Because none of them were there when I was suffering, when I wanted to end it all and when I was at my last moments.

I tried to reply to some of the comments, but it was of no use. The more I reply, the more the insults keep coming. Before I could lose my mind, I received a message from Lysander. Calm and polite as usual asking to meet me.This time around at the school campus.

I didn’t want to go at first, not because of him but because I feared the judgement I would receive when the students see me around him.

But Lesley persuaded me, she told me to ignore the scandal and live my life to the fullest. And so I left, with the hope of being able to ignore those judgemental eyes and whispers that will follow me around.

I met him in front of the school gate. He was holding a small lunch bag which he handed it over to me after we exchanged a warm friendly hug.

He wanted me to see his art exhibition and some paintings he made. But we both knew that was just an excuse to keep me busy and away from all those noises.

And he was able to successfully do it. After seeing two to three of his paintings I was intrigued and curious of his talent. And so he offered to paint a portrait of me.

I thought he was joking until he brought me to a butterfly garden I never knew existed at the Art center of the school.

"Feel free and walk around...I’ll be just here setting my materials up." He muttered with a polite smile.

I nodded and began wandering around. The garden was filled with different kinds of butterflies and flowers. I hummed a hymn softly as I tried to play with the butterflies. For a few moments, I forgot about all the chaos and let myself relax.

Right after that, he offered me a seat in front of him and began the painting. We had short conversations about the scandal and how to prevent such issues from happening again as he paint.

He paused after 30 minutes and we had lunch together. It felt like a mini picnic, we laughed, ate some ice cream and forgot totally about our problems.

"Can I see the progress of the portrait?" I asked, as I went back to my seat. He stared at me dead in the eyes for a second, before letting out a small laugh.

Then, instead of replying, he closed the distance between us in slow, deliberate steps which echoed with quiet intent.

My breath caught as he leaned in, his gaze locked on mine before it flickered down to my lips.

Gently, he brushed his thumb across my lower lip, wiping it clean with a tenderness that made my heart stumble. His touch lingered warmly against my lower lips as if he was memorizing the feel of me.

I was so caught up in it, I almost forgot how to breathe a moment. Breaking the tension, he cleared his throat and went back to his seat before uttering. " There was a salad cream on your lips."

Damn, why should he say it like that. I wanted the floor to open and swallow me for getting wrong ideas for a second.

I blinked more than necessary to summon some confidence before masking the awkwardness with a smirk.

He smiled too, then went back to painting. We spent the rest of the day filled with stolen glances which lingered more than necessary, dramatic excuses and awkward conversations.

When the day was finally over. He escorted me to my dorm. Hands intertwined in mine like it was the most natural thing on earth.

My wolf was still and calm, as if it didn’t want to interfere in this sudden friendship closeness. At first, it yells at me for ignoring my mate, for ditching Maddox and giving up on my chances of being successfully mated.

But now, it seems it’s slowly acknowledging the presence of Lysander. And never interfering like before even though it hates the smell of humans.

After all this, I still couldn’t get my problems out of my mind. It felt like some kind of moment which passed by like a dream.

And speaking of problems, I got a call in the middle of the streets. It was Mordred’s number. I hung up, but still kept calling and so Lysander told me to pick up.

I did, and regretted immediately. " Where are you Kianna, I’m waiting in front of your dorm." His husky voice came through the moment I whispered, " hello."

I wanted to lie, to tell him I won’t be coming home tonight, but didn’t know what Lysander would think of me after hearing those lies. I don’t want him to get wrong ideas about me.

And so I told him I’m on my way. Soon we got there and Lysander said his goodbye and left without asking any questions.

But Mordred wouldn’t shut up. " Is this not the same guy they accused... you were two timing with me?" He muttered, smiling weirdly.

"Yes, he’s my best friend...and stay away from him." I replied, walking past him to open my door.

But he caught my wrist immediately. " You didn’t put my bracelet on. Why’s that?" He questioned, closing the gap between us.

I stepped back, then tried to free myself from him but his grip was tight.

" It’s my wrist, I chose what to do with it...you’re not entitled to it. And stop coming here frequently, you’re making my life a mess." I replied, masking my fear with a shy practiced smile.

But that psycho didn’t step back or let go of me. Instead, he let out a chuckle. Then stepped closer again, letting his cologne hover between us.

"You should get used to it Kianna, you will be seeing me more often..." He whispered, then his gaze flickered to my lips for a while before meeting my eyes again before adding;

"...especially when I know you’ve seen something you shouldn’t."

My stomach dropped. Does he know I saw the text? I’m I the next target? Gosh Kianna, what did I just do? My fingers began trembling at my side.

He caught on quickly and smirked, brushing my cheeks with his thumb. "Relax, I’m just joking. I’m here because of the scandal...it’s ruining my reputation. So I was thinking maybe we should make it a reality instead." He uttered.

The depths in his words sent shivers down my spine. " What-the-heck? Are you trying to tell me we should start dating just to cover up the fake news circulating about us on campus?"

I asked him, with the hope I must have misinterpreted his words. But he nodded silently, as if what he just suggested was something normal.

I opened my mouth to speak, to protest, to tell him he must be out of his mind, but words refused to come out. And so I just stood there and glared at him foolishly like a mannequin.

"I will take that as a yes...besides, it’ll benefit both of us. I’ll have my carefully built reputation back. And your toxic ex will finally leave you alone...because he wouldn’t want his ribs broken by me. Isn’t it a win?"

I nodded dumbly, words refusing to form on my tongue. His eyes softened, a flicker of warmth dancing in them before he slowly released my hands.

"Alright then... see you tomorrow at school, Kianna," he said, his grin curving into something playful. "Or should I say—babe?"

My heart tripped over itself. Heat rushed to my cheeks so fast it made me dizzy. I could only let out a nervous laugh before escaping — fumbling for the doorknob, pushing it open, and slipping inside.

The door clicked shut behind me, but the sound of his teasing voice lingered in my chest like a secret I didn’t want to forget.
