Chapter 95: Chapter 95 Impossible

Damien’s POV

I watched Grace’s eyes gleam with vindictive pleasure as she twisted the knife deeper.

"Victoria has always been exceptional," she said, her voice dripping with satisfaction. "Compared to her, you’re not worthy to even touch her shoes. Lucky for us, your blindness led you to choose that Scarlett woman instead. You spared Victoria from being deceived any longer by a worthless man like you."

Her words cut through me like shards of glass, each one finding its mark with brutal precision.

"You thought you married someone who could help your pathetic career," Grace continued, clearly enjoying my humiliation. "But that woman’s resources? They’re nothing compared to Victoria’s. Even your precious Northstream Pack can’t compare to the Crescent Dawn Pack. If you had chosen Victoria, you wouldn’t be begging for project approvals. How does regret taste, you piece of shit?"

Leon howled in agony inside me, clawing at my chest as the weight of my mistake crushed down on me. I had traded a diamond for a pebble. Victoria—my beautiful, sweet Victoria—had been mine for five years. And I’d thrown her away for what? For Scarlett’s promises and ambitions that now seemed laughably small.

"Impossible," I stammered, desperately trying to deny the reality crashing down around me. "You can’t be from the Lancaster family. You’re all conspiring to trick me!"

I couldn’t bear the truth. Couldn’t face the magnitude of what I’d lost. Better to believe this was all an elaborate lie than accept I had held everything in my hands and carelessly discarded it.

Joseph Miller’s eyes narrowed with contempt. "Are all Northstream wolves this stupid? I’ve known Victoria since she was a child. Her grandfather and I are close friends. There’s no mistake here. If you’re just here to cause trouble, I’m afraid you’re not welcome."

With a casual gesture, he summoned security. "Remove this man. He’s not permitted inside."

Two massive guards approached, their grips like iron as they seized my arms.

"No! Don’t touch me!" I struggled against their hold, desperation making my voice crack. "Victoria! Victoria, I know I was wrong! I should never have treated you that way! Scarlett manipulated me! You’ve always been the woman I truly loved—that never changed! Please, give me one more chance! Just one more chance!"

My pleas echoed uselessly as I was dragged away and unceremoniously thrown to the ground outside. I landed hard, the impact jarring through my body, but the physical pain was nothing compared to the agony tearing through my chest as I watched Victoria walk away with Damien, disappearing through the venue doors.

She was gone. Victoria had chosen someone else.

And she wasn’t just anyone—she was the Lancaster heiress. I’d visited Lancaster Enterprises multiple times, had even seen her there, but in my arrogance, I’d assumed she was merely a secretary.

I’d abandoned her for money and status, believing Scarlett could help me secure my position in the Sterling family. With the Suttons’ support, I thought my path into the company would be smoother, that I’d finally have the backing I needed. But all along, my Victoria had been the heiress to an empire that made the Sterling holdings look insignificant.

The pain in my chest was unbearable, a ripping, tearing sensation that left me gasping. Leon whimpered and curled into himself, both of us drowning in regret.

Others were right—I wasn’t worthy to even touch her shoes. But why couldn’t she have told me sooner? Why hide her identity for so long? If I had known, I would never have looked twice at Scarlett, would never have married her.

Victoria was the one I loved. Always Victoria.

I sat there on the cold ground, not caring who saw my humiliation. As the initial shock began to fade, my mind started manufacturing justifications, desperately seeking ways to shift the blame from myself. This was Victoria’s fault. She had hidden her true identity, kept secrets from me for five years. If she had truly loved me, she would have revealed everything.

When she saw I wanted to join the Sterling company, she didn’t help me at all. If she had revealed her identity, Lawrence would have welcomed me immediately, would have encouraged our marriage.

It was Victoria who didn’t love me enough. Victoria who kept everything hidden.

"AAAARRGH!" The wolf’s howl tore from my human throat, raw with rage and pain.

Mona rushed to my side, attempting to help me up. "Mr. Sterling, are you all right? Should we go back home?"

I stared at her face—the face that bore a slight resemblance to Victoria’s features. Something snapped inside me. My hands shot out, closing around her throat.

"Why did you lie to me? WHY?" I snarled, tightening my grip. "Was it because you didn’t love me enough? Did you stop loving me? Was this all some sick game to you?"

I squeezed harder, watching her struggle. "I loved you so much! How could you do this to me?"

Mona’s eyes widened in panic as she fought for breath. "No... it wasn’t... like that! Mr. Sterling... I... love you..."

When calling me by my title didn’t work, she gasped out: "Ethan... Ethan..."

The sound of my name in that voice, coming from a face that reminded me of Victoria’s, finally broke through my rage. I released her throat.

She immediately wrapped her arms around me, her voice soothing. "I’ll always be by your side. You still have me."

I saw her glance toward the doors where Victoria had disappeared, something calculating flashing in her eyes. I didn’t care what she was thinking. In that moment, I just needed someone—anyone—who looked even remotely like the woman I’d lost.
