Chapter 32: Chapter 32 Blood Moon Pack’s beta

Victoria’s POV

I walked into the elevator, and though reluctant to admit it, I was impressed. Even though this was just a branch office in America, the building completely lived up to what you’d expect from a major real estate group—luxurious and bright.

Did the Sterling family even know that Damian was the Alpha of Blood Moon Pack?

Lawrence Sterling barely acknowledged his eldest son, yet showered attention on Ethan, the illegitimate child. I wondered if there would come a day when Lawrence would regret this choice.

Several other people entered the elevator with me.

An employee greeted them with professional courtesy.

"Mr. Smith, welcome."

One of the foreigners responded in Arabic, his tone short and impatient.

"Where is your translator?"

Another foreigner, apparently Mr. Smith’s translator, converted this to English: "Mr. Smith is asking about your translator."

The project manager wiped sweat from his forehead. "Sorry, our translator had an emergency."

I could smell the anxiety emanating from him.

I sensed the subtle scent changes.

The company representatives were clearly nervous—their translator was probably having digestive issues in the bathroom, but Mr. Smith had already arrived downstairs. Since Smith brought his own translator, they decided to proceed.

After the explanation was translated, Smith nodded briefly.

"I have a flight to catch in thirty minutes. I’m here to sign the contract. You’ve already reviewed it, and if there are no issues, we’ll sign immediately. There are several clauses I want to clarify directly."

Smith then discussed several details of their cooperation, with his translator conveying the information.

I listened with a frown. The translation didn’t match what Smith was actually saying—there were significant differences, particularly regarding the terms. The contract he handed over was entirely in Arabic, essentially a dual-purpose document designed to deceive them. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺

The staff looked troubled. "Mr. Smith, perhaps we should retain this contract for now and return it to you after we’ve thoroughly reviewed and signed it."

After hearing the translation, Smith’s face darkened with anger.

"I don’t have that kind of time," Smith said harshly. "My time is valuable. Either you sign now, or we must cancel the cooperation. Many companies are waiting for this technology. If ME Group lacks sincerity, I won’t waste another minute. We’re leaving!"

"Wait, Mr. Smith! We’ll sign now!" the staff said hastily.

As they prepared to sign, I couldn’t remain silent any longer.

"Wait!" I shouted.

All eyes turned to me, as if just realizing I was in the corner of the elevator.

"Who are you?" the staff asked, clearly not recognizing me.

"There’s a problem with this contract," I said firmly. "What this gentleman is saying differs significantly from what’s being translated. Many details don’t match, especially the numerical data."

"What do you mean?" The staff looked confused.

I had learned multiple languages from childhood, including Arabic. My Alpha upbringing included extensive language training—Lancasters needed to communicate directly with allies and enemies. I pointed out the specific differences between what Smith said and what was translated.

Smith and his translator visibly paled, their scents turning sour with panic.

"I suspect there are problems with the document itself," I continued. "If you trust me, I can review it for you."

After some hesitation, the staff handed me the contract. I flipped through it, quickly identifying the issues.

"This contract is deliberately deceptive," I explained. "These sections here and here contain wordplay. Several clauses have multiple meanings—essentially a trap. An ordinary translator might not catch these nuances."

I explained how certain ambiguous terms were intentionally used to create confusion. They were Arabic terms with double meanings, deliberately placed to mislead.

After hearing my explanation, the staff confronted Smith: "We wanted to cooperate with you sincerely, yet you tried to deceive us?"

Smith’s face darkened, caught in his deception.

"ME Group will not cooperate with people like you," the representative declared firmly. "This contract is void. Please leave."

Smith left angrily with his entourage, radiating fury. The staff turned to me gratefully.

"Thank you so much. If you hadn’t spotted these issues, we might have signed this terrible contract."

"You’re welcome," I replied. "I just happened to notice the problems."

"Which department are you from? I should let your supervisor know about your excellent work today."

"I’m—" I began, about to explain that I wasn’t an employee here, when the elevator doors opened and a woman stepped out.

She radiated dominance—wearing a tailored suit and authoritative heels, her presence filled the space.

My wolf immediately sensed another powerful she-wolf, though definitely not an Alpha like myself.

"Are company confidential documents now something we casually distribute to strangers?" she demanded, her voice sharp.

"Beta..." the others visibly stiffened, their scents becoming anxious.

I heard someone whispering behind me: "We’re screwed, that’s Catherine Watson, she’s the beta of Blood Moon Pack and also the deputy general manager of the group."

So that was her identity, no wonder she was so arrogant.

"Is this your first day at the company? Don’t you know the employee conduct rules?" she continued. "Sharing company confidential documents with outsiders? If information leaks, can you bear the responsibility?"

The employees fell silent, not daring to speak. I could smell their fear—this woman clearly ruled through intimidation.

"I won’t leak any of your confidential information," I assured her calmly, "this document is invalid now anyway. If you’re worried, if any information leaks through me, I’m happy to sign a legally binding confidentiality agreement."

"Who are you? Are you an employee here? If not, leave immediately!" Her voice grew louder, giving no quarter.

She pointed at the elevator. "Get out. Now!"

Her hostility was obvious. Though we’d never met, she radiated animosity toward me.

My wolf could sense her territorial behavior—there was a personal element to her reaction.

I felt my wolf bristling at being challenged. I straightened my spine and met her glare directly.

"Damian personally invited me here," I responded coldly, deliberately using his name. "If you have a problem with that, take it up with him. You have no authority to order me around."

The tension in the air intensified as I prepared for whatever came next.
