City's Best Divine Doctor-Chapter 1549 - 1548: Might Be Lost
This mountain seems close, but in reality, climbing it is very far, and the mountain is covered with trees, with hardly anyone having passed through.
Now Ye Qiu is leading Zhou Wenting and Wen Xin up the mountain, worried that the two women’s delicate skin might easily be scratched by the thorny plants.
Walking on the ground, it’s all covered with leaves, but now it’s spring transitioning to summer, and the trees and wild grasses on the mountain are blooming.
As Zhou Wenting and Wen Xin are panting there, they feel extremely tired.
"Ye Qiu, I can’t take it anymore, I need to rest," Zhou Wenting said.
She is a young lady, not used to hard work, and at this moment, she couldn’t handle it, barely climbed another hundred meters before getting exhausted, almost drenched in sweat.
Wen Xin was a bit better than Zhou Wenting, as her previous job as a nurse was very tiring, and her family’s situation couldn’t compare with Zhou Wenting’s, but now she was also covered in fragrant sweat.
"If it were just one of you, I could carry you, but I can’t carry two,"
"Who wants you to carry me, just need a rest," Zhou Wenting said.
However, when she spoke, she was still panting.
So they rested for a while, Ye Qiu was fine, and looked around, there wasn’t much sunlight, it seemed a bit dark, like around six in the evening.
If it weren’t for Ye Qiu being here, Zhou Wenting and Wen Xin would indeed feel quite scared.
After resting for fifteen minutes and drinking half a bottle of water, the two continued following Ye Qiu up the mountain.
The further they climbed, the more tired they became, their panting increasingly noticeable. If it wasn’t for trying to find the source of the infectious virus, they might not have persisted.
"Ye Qiu, I’m so tired," Zhou Wenting said.
She really couldn’t stand it anymore.
Breaking into a hot sweat, panting, her face flushed.
While Wen Xin looked a little better, she wasn’t much better off, and had been scratched by those wild grasses and branches, with exposed skin bleeding, which was itchy and quite uncomfortable.
"Then come on up!" Ye Qiu squatted down, letting Zhou Wenting climb onto his back.
Zhou Wenting didn’t expect Ye Qiu to actually intend to carry her.
Seeing Wen Xin’s calm expression after a glance, Zhou Wenting clung to Ye Qiu’s neck, as he supported her little butt, continuing up the mountain.
They climbed for an unknown amount of time, Zhou Wenting was surprised that Ye Qiu wasn’t tired, as she thought he would want to put her down, but she felt so comfortable she almost fell asleep on his back.
"Ye Qiu, shouldn’t we stop for a while?" Zhou Wenting suggested.
Ye Qiu had thought the mountain cave ahead would be close, yet it turned out to be so far. They had been walking for at least two hours, based on his phone, yet he still couldn’t tell where they were. At least he felt they weren’t near the mountain cave yet, as there were no trees near the cave, but here there were plenty of trees.
After putting Zhou Wenting down, she noticed it seemed darker around, like six or seven in the evening.
"Ye Qiu, where are we?"
"Of course, we’re on the mountain."
"Then why can’t we see the village or the caves?" Zhou Wenting asked.
Based on the route they took up, Ye Qiu thought it was impossible for them to have gotten lost.
"Wen Xin, are you tired?"
Wen Xin was already very tired, having long finished the bottle of water.
Now both thirsty and tired, she couldn’t even speak.
They found a spot with a big rock, and the three sat down for a rest.
While sitting there, Ye Qiu said, "Wenting, Wen Xin, I’ll climb up a tree to take a look and see where we are."
Sometimes, one’s sense of direction can be off, seeing and walking paths may not align, a phenomenon particularly noticeable in the remote wilderness, which is why many hikers get lost in the mountains.
Ye Qiu quickly climbed up a tall tree; from the ground, the two women could hear him but not see him, as he climbed over ten meters high.
However, the higher Ye Qiu climbed, almost reaching the top, he was surprised to find himself not knowing this place, as looking around, he neither saw the mountain cave nor the village. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
Could he be on the backside of the mountain cave?
Ye Qiu thought it was possible.
However, he had been climbing straight up, so why did the view differ completely from what he expected?
Could he have gotten lost?
When Ye Qiu descended from the tall tree, Wen Xin and Zhou Wenting were waiting below, puzzled at how he could climb trees so effortlessly, almost like a monkey.
As Ye Qiu jumped down from several meters up the tree, Zhou Wenting and Wen Xin were startled.
"Ye Qiu, you scared us jumping down like that!"
"What’s the big deal? But I have to tell you, we might be lost. Up in the tree, I saw neither the village nor the mountain cave; we might be on the backside of the high mountain or lost, having crossed over to another mountain."
This mountain range seemed endless, all appearing as lofty peaks; after climbing for two or three hours, it’s possible they crossed from one peak to another.
That’s certainly possible.
However, there was no signal on this mountain, so the phone’s map was useless for navigation.
"What should we do then?" Zhou Wenting asked fearfully.
"With me here, what are you afraid of?"
Wen Xin wasn’t afraid at all, but Zhou Wenting was somewhat scared.
After all, with the mountains stretching continuously, if they truly got lost without water and food, they might end up starving and thirsty.
"Ye Qiu, I’m really thirsty," Wen Xin said.
Her face was flushed, clearly feeling very hot.
"I’ll find some water for you."
There was no bamboo around; if there were, Ye Qiu would break some old bamboo, which is full of clean water.
However, with no clear water source, they had to rely on the water within the vines.
Ye Qiu started moving, and the two women didn’t dare stay behind, quickly following him.
Ye Qiu grabbed a machete he’d brought, borrowed from an old lady, now coming in handy.
He went ahead and cut down a few vines, and it turned out they had plenty of moisture.
He cut off a few sections and let Wen Xin drink directly; she tasted it, finding it slightly sweet.
"Ye Qiu, is this drinkable?"
"Do you even know what I’ve studied?" Since Ye Qiu knew Chinese medicine, he naturally understood what plants were poisonous and which were not.
