Chapter 1428: Chapter 1427: Believe It or Not, I’ll Wake Him Up in a Moment

Ye Qiu, Louise, Zhou Wenting, Song Ying, and Richard’s bodyguard were sitting in the living room waiting. About ten minutes later, they saw Richard coming over with an elderly couple.

This French elderly couple was Bernard’s parents. They had just heard that Bernard’s friend Richard, the French piano prince, had come to visit again, and that he had brought a doctor friend along, so of course, they followed.

Of course, Bernard had been receiving treatment all along. Since he had high insurance from each race, aside from a hefty sum from the insurance company, the racing company also paid a large amount. Furthermore, his salary and bonuses over the years amounted to quite a bit too. At the very least, it was enough for him to afford private doctors and nurses for the rest of his life.

However, with Bernard in a coma, only maintaining life by infusion, Bernard’s parents were naturally worried.

If they were to pass away before Bernard, even if Bernard’s wife could take care of him, they were concerned about the possibility of a divorce.

Of course, their estate could be managed by lawyers, and no one would dare to touch it.

"Dr. Ye, these are Bernard’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard."

Richard said.

Ye Qiu extended his hand, and after introducing himself in French to shake hands with the two, they were surprised at how fluent Ye Qiu’s French was, ensuring there would be no language barriers in communication.

Moreover, knowing that the young blonde beauty before them was actually Louise, the eldest daughter of the prestigious Gauthier Family, they were very surprised.

After all, the Goth Consortium held a significant status in France.

After getting acquainted, Ye Qiu asked, "Sir, how is Bernard doing now?"

"He has been in a deep coma, relying on infusions to sustain his energy."

"Then let me go with you to see the patient’s condition first."

Ye Qiu followed the elderly couple to Bernard’s room where he was recuperating, in another villa.

Even before getting close, Ye Qiu could smell a strong, unpleasant odor of Western medicine, indicating that they had been relying heavily on such medication.

After all, in such a deep coma, food couldn’t be ingested orally, so he had to rely on infusions to survive.

As soon as the door was opened, the smell of Western medicine was even more pungent inside.

Entering the room, they saw two female nurses and someone who appeared to be a Western doctor caring for Bernard.

When Richard and the elderly couple brought Ye Qiu in, the three inside initially thought Ye Qiu was here to visit the bed-bound Bernard.

Ye Qiu approached the bedside, examining Bernard’s condition. It was evident that since Bernard hadn’t moved for a long time, his skin had severely atrophied muscles, looking worse than that of elderly men, and since he had rarely been exposed to the sun, his skin appeared pale white.

The family doctor found it odd that this young man seemed not to be here to visit Mr. Bernard but rather to examine him medically.

"And you are?"

Philip asked curiously.

"I’m a doctor."

Ye Qiu answered.

Philip was genuinely surprised; was this young man actually a doctor? He seemed to examine Bernard without any medical tools, using his hands to do so instead.

"Are you an internist or a neurologist?"

Philip assumed Ye Qiu was a Western doctor.

"Neither, I am a Chinese medicine doctor. However, these two friends of mine are internists." Ye Qiu referred to Zhou Wenting and Louise.

These two had been students in the internal medicine department at Marseille University, and Zhou Wenting was now an internist at an Affiliated Hospital.

A Chinese medicine doctor?

Philip and the two female nurses were puzzled as to why a Chinese medicine doctor was invited.

In the eyes of Westerners, Chinese medicine seemed akin to witchcraft, comparable to those tribal witch doctors in Africa, without scientific basis. Even acupuncture was something many in Europe couldn’t accept.

Seeing the disbelief in their eyes, Ye Qiu asked, "How long have you been taking care of Mr. Bernard?"

"Almost two years."

"And what have you achieved?"

"Mainly maintaining Mr. Bernard’s bodily functions, but not enough to make him awake." Philip was a private family doctor.

Besides caring for Bernard, he might also take care of nearby patients.

However, for him, it was enough as Bernard survived over these two years, though still not regaining consciousness.

"So, there’s not much use then."

Ye Qiu said coldly.

From the tone earlier, it was apparent that there was no faith in his medical skills.

He didn’t mind now, having fully assessed Bernard’s condition. Bernard suffered severe brain injuries keeping him in a coma.

Furthermore, due to prolonged inactivity, severe atrophy in skin and muscles was evident, and even waking up would require time before walking normally.

"You haven’t even taken good care of Mr. Bernard’s skin and muscles, thus shirking your duties."

Ye Qiu thought that in China, nurses and doctors would routinely massage a patient’s skin, thus avoiding such severe atrophy.

As for the deathly pale complexion, it further proved he was seldom taken out for sun exposure.

In normal circumstances, both healthy individuals and patients need sun exposure.

Clearly, Bernard rarely got any sunlight.

"We have been caring for Mr. Bernard based on recommendations and care protocols from major hospitals," Philip said.

"Do you believe me when I say I can wake Bernard up soon?"

Ye Qiu didn’t waste words. He knew conventional doctors couldn’t have awakened Bernard, now practically in a vegetative state with brain death looming.

In such condition, expecting an ordinary doctor to awaken Bernard required a miracle, otherwise it was truly difficult.

No one expected that Ye Qiu would claim he could awaken Bernard after just an examination, and not taking much time at that.

How could this be?

The elderly couple found it unbelievable.

Philip and the two female nurses couldn’t believe it either.

Richard still had some doubt, as he didn’t know Ye Qiu’s medical prowess.

But Louise and Zhou Wenting knew Ye Qiu’s medical skills well, so Ye Qiu’s words were credible.

Song Ying was also skeptical if Ye Qiu was bluffing, but based on her understanding, she found it unlikely.
