Ruby Sullivan instinctively glanced in Rhonda Sullivan’s direction and suddenly heard Ethan Sterling’s reminder, "Alex is here."
She quickly withdrew her gaze and followed Ethan Sterling’s line of sight. Sure enough, she saw Alex just entering the hall.
Before anyone else noticed him, Ruby Sullivan quickly walked over, smiling and greeting, "Alex, long time no see."
"Wenny, long time no see." This Gallian of Chinese descent immediately put on a cordial but fake smile, warmly greeting Ruby Sullivan with cheek kisses.
But just as he finished the habitual pleasantries, he felt a particularly sharp gaze from outside the crowd.
He followed the gaze and saw it was Boss Sterling, giving a little smile, but the other did not reciprocate, turning away. Alex didn’t know what happened, but felt inexplicably uneasy.
He looked back at Ruby Sullivan, "Your Nirvana has been in the spotlight lately, is there an opportunity for collaboration?"
Ruby Sullivan didn’t expect his directness, "It would be my honor to collaborate with you."
Alex didn’t seem interested in chatting with others, and upon hearing Ruby Sullivan’s response, he led her to the sofa on the sidelines, intending to talk more.
Each country has different market demands for fragrances. Although Ruby Sullivan’s perfume received high praise, its bold scent blend and limited market release raised questions about its international success.
Alex’s job is bringing perfumes he favors into suitable countries. He had the fortune of encountering Nirvana during the FIFI awards selection phase, a fragrance truly worth all praise, but choosing the right market is crucial.
"I most want to enter Bellaza’s market," Ruby Sullivan stated her goal, knowing Alex was the only one who could help her achieve it.
"Wow." He exaggeratedly raised his eyebrows, joking, "Are you declaring war on Dr. L? I heard he’s already signed a strategic partnership with The Sullivan Group to develop a fragrance suitable for Oriental preferences, launching by year’s end, exclusively in Celestia."
Ruby Sullivan was too busy developing new fragrances to follow such news.
She chuckled lightly, "Why would a pupil compete with their master for the market? We in Celestia have a saying, ’Betraying your master is akin to betraying your ancestors,’ doing so incurs divine retribution."
"Successful businessmen are always divinely protected."
After he spoke, they both laughed.
Ruby Sullivan quickly waved her hand, "Alright, but that’s not my reason. Bellaza’s people are inherently romantic, seemingly everyone a natural artist, and they’ve always been patrons of classical elegance. Traditional perfumes hold an unshakeable sales position there, and I want to break that barrier, offer something different."
Actually, she’d always wanted to pursue this, but at The Lawson Group, there were many constraints preventing her from doing so.
"Wow." Alex was shocked by her daring idea, "That’s very risky."
"The greater the risk, the greater the reward. Smart businessmen never make trades without risks." Ruby Sullivan raised her champagne glass to toast him.
Nearby, Rhonda Sullivan saw Ethan Sterling alone and walked over with a glass of wine, "That distinguished guest must have been invited by you, Mr. Sterling?"
Behind Alex was Pan-Global Group, an elder company to The Sullivan Group. Despite being competitors in many ways, due to their vastly different scales, Rhonda Sullivan wouldn’t even dare call them a rival since The Sullivan Group isn’t on the same level.
Alex, a pillar of such a group, would never show up at her private party, and seeing today’s situation, even engaging him in small talk seemed hard.
Ethan Sterling smiled faintly, "I must, of course, look after my wife’s dignity."
"Ha, even the always methodical Ethan Sterling would say something like that, truly unimaginable."
"Can’t help it, she likes it." He tilted his head, looking at Ruby Sullivan’s back with an expression filled with deep affection.
Rhonda Sullivan stared at him, struggling to suppress her discomfort, standing silent for a while without letting her facial expression betray her.
"Truly a deep bond between husband and wife." She feigned indifference, took a deliberate step to block Ethan Sterling’s view, "I heard something happened when you went to Gallia last month?"
"Minor mishap." 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
"Mr. Sterling, you’re really generous, calling an almost fatal air disaster a minor mishap." Rhonda Sullivan laughed exaggeratedly, "But there’s something you might not know. At first, the Gallian government wasn’t willing to cause a commotion over a minor Celestian businessman, the top brass directly instructed the Coastview Government to cooperate, granting cross-border powers to The Sterling and The Sinclair people."
Ethan Sterling furrowed his brows slightly, his gaze turning cold.
He didn’t like listening to people hint at things, she knew.
Yet, Rhonda Sullivan was unwilling to elaborate, quietly saying harshly, "I’ll make you regret not killing me in the mental hospital, hahaha, alright, Mr. Sterling, enjoy your dinner tonight." After speaking, she glanced at Ethan Sterling’s stiff face, content, turning to leave.
The man she pursued with everything, she’s decided to let go, but she would drag them all to hell, no one should think of having it easy!
Ethan Sterling glanced at Dr. L engaged in conversation and couldn’t help but frown.
Aidan Sinclair mentioned the problem with the Gallian government; before he planned to use underground means, they relented. He only found out after investigating that Dr. L had spoken on behalf of him to people there.
It’s said that L’s ancestors had close ties with Bellaza’s mafia; The Lawson Group’s enduring success over the years has much to do with the power behind the scenes. His authority before Gallian officials is unsurprising, yet he has no reason to help.
Unless it’s for Ruby Sullivan.
Thinking of this, Ethan Sterling’s face darkened, feeling uneasy.
While chatting with Alex, Ruby Sullivan noticed Rhonda Sullivan and Ethan Sterling talking. Her heart immediately filled with apprehensive anxiety, losing her desire to continue detailed discussions with him. They exchanged business cards, scheduling a chat over lunch the day after tomorrow.
Someone had already recognized Alex, and after Ruby Sullivan left, people soon came to converse with him. Used to such interactions, he greeted them with a smile, exchanged a few pleasantries, and then discreetly left. Of course, Ruby Sullivan was unaware, thus never realizing Alex had come for her.
Ruby Sullivan walked over to Ethan Sterling, her smile somewhat awkward, "Alex is very interested in Nirvana."
"Good, mission completed, let’s go." Ethan Sterling said, freeing an arm.
Ruby Sullivan laughed, linking her arm with his.
They had taken only a few steps when there was a commotion at the hall’s entrance, seemingly someone without an invitation was attempting to force their way in, arguing with the security.
"Big brother, sister-in-law, you’re here too!" The man saw Ethan Sterling and Ruby Sullivan, his frowning face immediately relaxing, loudly greeting them while trying to shake off the security guard’s grip.
Ruby Sullivan was exasperated, "Mr. Sterling, since when do you have such a foolish younger brother?"
"I have no idea..." Mr. Sterling shared the same expression of exasperation.
