Ruby Sullivan laughed through her tears, "Mr. Sterling, since when did you start caring about your looks? Why didn’t I know this?"

"Since I found out you’re a looks fanatic." Ethan Sterling grabbed her hand, gazing at her as he asked again, "Seriously, who’s more handsome?"

Ruby took a deep breath, feeling her heart beating a bit irregularly under his gaze.

"Um..." She couldn’t handle Ethan’s flirtatious demeanor, "What do you want to hear?" She tilted her head, her gaze flickering.

Ethan wouldn’t let her evade the question, lifting his hand to cup her face, forcing her to face him, "Tell me the truth."

This Mr. Sterling left her defenseless! Ruby felt her face heat up dramatically, muttering in a mosquito-like voice, "You’re the most handsome, okay?"

Ethan was unsatisfied, "Louder."

Resigned, Ruby closed her eyes and shouted, "You’re the most handsome!" As soon as the words left her lips, she felt her head being gently pulled down, immediately followed by a quick peck on her lips.

Stunned, she opened her eyes. Why was she always being taken advantage of lately? Was he going to pay for this?

Ethan chuckled softly at her dazed expression, then stood up and kissed her again, this time not stopping at a light peck but diving in deeply.

Ruby was utterly petrified, her hands awkwardly clutched in front of her, looking completely unaware of what had just happened.

After what felt like ages, Ethan let go, and still unsatisfied, he lightly nibbled on her lower lip. Seeing her dazed expression, he couldn’t resist tapping her nose with his finger, "Wake up."

Ruby gasped sharply, covering her mouth tightly, mumbling indignantly, "Mr. Sterling, control yourself!"

Ethan laughed softly, wrapping her entirely in his embrace, rubbing his chin on her forehead, and arrogantly said, "No."

Ruby: "..."

The gentle yet satisfied tone melted Ruby’s heart. Oh my God, Mr. Sterling was being cute again!

Ethan left a kiss on her forehead, "I thought I had become a mature ex-husband, but seeing your expression this morning made me realize I was wrong. I can’t think about you from an ex-husband’s perspective. I don’t want to give you freedom; I want to hold you, hide you in my pocket. In short, I must have you."

No other man is allowed to look at her, and she isn’t allowed to look at any other man. Any slight hint makes him extremely uneasy.

"Well... if you really want to hide me in your pocket, you’ll have to custom-make one because a regular burlap sack would be pretty uncomfortable, right?" Ruby was dizzy from his long affectionate confession, and for some reason, her quirky thought process caught onto this detail.

Her heart pounded wildly, as if it might burst out of her chest at any moment and leave her behind to explore the world! She was really afraid to let him see her embarrassment but truly couldn’t pretend to stay calm!

"Ms. Sullivan!"

"Here!" She abruptly looked up, only to accidentally hit his chin, hearing him exclaim "ouch" clearly.

"Are you okay?"

"Still alive." Ethan knew she was panicking, so he reluctantly let go, "I just wanted to state my position. You have the right not to accept it."

Ruby breathed a sigh of relief, feeling that the normal Mr. Sterling was easier to deal with.

She stood there stunned for a few seconds, mumbling something about "going to help in the kitchen," then turned hurriedly to leave. Not knowing what was wrong with her eyes, she lifted her foot and bumped into the corner of the bed, clutching her knee in pain and whimpering.

"Are you okay!" Ethan frowned.

"I’m fine, I’m fine." Ruby quickly stood up, limping out of the bedroom. She definitely didn’t want to be teased by him again; it was quite a test of endurance!

She went to the kitchen to help with the vegetables, but was absent-minded. When Mama Bennett looked back at her, she noticed that Ruby had put both the trimmed and untrimmed ends of the beans together.

"What’s on your mind, young Miss?" Mama Bennett asked worriedly as she sorted through the beans. Ruby’s distracted look was really concerning.

Ruby quickly shook her head, "It’s nothing." She helped sort through the beans, realizing her current state wasn’t suitable for helping in the kitchen. If she tried to cut vegetables later, she might just slice off her fingers.

So after sorting, she went to the living room to watch TV.

Her mind was a mess; she wanted something to quickly distract her attention.

Honestly, she was a little afraid of Ethan, afraid he would suddenly reveal his feelings for her, even though... it sounded nice, but thinking about it made her really panic.

She and Ethan had been through too much. She wasn’t sure if now was the time to see the rainbow after the rain, or if she could never be certain how long Ethan’s feelings for her would last. What if he realized after only a week that it was pointless?

What would she do? She was too fragile now, with nothing to her name, making her uneasy.

With this in mind, Ruby suddenly stood up and rushed to the bedroom.

Ethan watched her tornado her way in, puzzled, looking up at her to see what she wanted to do.

Ruby grabbed the big book she studied everyday from the bedside table and dashed to the window seat, kneeling on the carpet. "I have a question to ask."

Ethan found it unbelievable, "In such a hurry?"

Ruby nodded, "I want to quickly grasp some management skills and find a job." She realized that although she’s an expensive perfumer, she needed a talent scout like L or Ethan to appreciate her skills. To really make a career, she needed to understand how to manage things.

It’s not just about managing a company but more about managing a team. She admitted that she hadn’t managed the girls in the lab at The Sterling Group well, and if she couldn’t handle a few people, a team of a hundred was out of the question.

Ethan didn’t know what had gotten into her so suddenly. Had she been emotionally triggered by their kiss? He set down the book and joined her on the carpet, "The Sterling Group hasn’t launched a new fragrance in a while. I’ve been waiting for you to come back."
