Chapter 252: Chapter 252: Wish You Happiness

Zane Lawson came out from inside, smiling as he said, "The surgery was successful." This could be considered an account to Ethan Sterling.

Everyone breathed a sigh of relief, and Ruby Sullivan, who was sitting on a bench, couldn’t care less about her image anymore. She hugged Ethan Sterling’s waist and burst into tears.

Her body was too weak, and sitting for four consecutive hours was a huge burden on her body. Now she couldn’t stand up at all.

Ethan Sterling gently patted her shoulder, rarely showing a smile to a stranger, "Thank you."

After that, both Honey and Seth Sterling were sent to the intensive care unit. Seth Sterling could come out once the anesthetic wore off, but Honey needed to be hospitalized for observation for a while.

Although the surgery was very successful, there’s still a chance of rejection reactions occurring. She would need to stay at the hospital for at least two months.

Ethan Sterling suggested Ruby Sullivan go home, saying he would stay the night, but Ruby was worried that Honey would wake up and want her mother, so she refused to leave.

Ethan Sterling, helpless, had to take a stern tone, "Your body hasn’t recovered yet. If you end up having any aftereffects because of this, what are you going to do?"

Ruby Sullivan furrowed her brow but didn’t know how to argue back.

Previously, because she was young, she managed to recover from severe injuries, relying on a good physical foundation. But now she was about to turn thirty, and her physical condition was far worse than before. Additionally, with repeated hospitalizations over the past six months, her body’s deficits had not been replenished. Continuing to force herself might lead to unforeseen consequences.

The children were still young; she had to cherish her own health.

She sighed and had to compromise, "Fine, if anything happens, no matter the time, you must call me."

"I know." Ethan Sterling patted her head, not saying any more comforting words, but his eyes were full of tenderness.

"Alright, just trust him. Although I hate to admit it, he’s more reliable now than before." Sasha Shaw came over, hooking her arm around Ruby’s, and then said to Ethan, "Don’t worry, I’ll get your son and wife back home safely."

Ethan Sterling nodded slightly as a gesture of gratitude.

Leon Sterling, as he left, patted his shoulder, saying nothing.

That night, Ruby Sullivan asked Seth Sterling if he wanted to sleep with her, and her son happily accepted the invitation.

Since they reunited, they had almost been spending the night at the hospital. She was too exhausted, needing proper rest while also having to care for Honey, leaving her no time to have a good chat with her son. Tonight, Ruby Sullivan had intended to whisper a few words with her son, but she fell asleep shortly after getting into bed due to her exhaustion.

Seth Sterling gently held her hand, saying in his heart, "Mom, don’t worry. Little sister will be fine. Our family will live well together in the future."

On the other side, Honey woke up once after the anesthesia wore off. Having just had surgery, she felt her whole body in painful discomfort. Although her eyes were red and she wanted her mom, she thought about how her mom wasn’t in good health lately and needed good rest, so she didn’t ask her dad to call her mom on video.

Her drip had a calming effect, and Ethan Sterling told her stories for a while, causing the little one to drift off into a sleepy daze. Although her sleep wasn’t very comfortable, it was better than being awake.

Ethan Sterling heard his phone vibrate. It was a message from Leon Sterling, saying he was outside the door.

Leon Sterling, unaware of the situation in the ward, was afraid knocking would disturb Honey, so he sent Ethan Sterling a message.

It was still very cold outside at night. Ethan Sterling asked the nurse to arrange a nearby empty room, finally having a place for the brothers to eat a late-night snack.

Though they called it a late-night snack, it was quite meager, only some grilled skewers and instant noodles.

Ethan Sterling lost his appetite upon seeing these things, but Leon Sterling was very enthusiastic, "These instant noodles taste really good, trust me." He picked one up and recommended it to Ethan Sterling, looking very genuine.

Ethan Sterling still frowned, but seeing him with a "trust me, no problem" demeanor, he couldn’t help but relent, "Alright."

Leon Sterling immediately went to add hot water to two bowls of instant noodles. He ate skewers while waiting for the noodles, knowing that Ethan Sterling’s cleanliness wouldn’t let him eat skewers, so he didn’t force him.

Ethan Sterling, seeing him eating with relish, proactively picked a skewer of fish tofu, trying a piece, and found it tasted quite good.

Leon Sterling raised an eyebrow, "How is it? Tasty, right?"

Ethan Sterling said nothing, watching his brother’s seemingly cheerful demeanor, thinking of his sensible son, felt a mixture of emotions, "Thank you." He said out of nowhere.

"Thank you for what?" Leon Sterling didn’t understand.

"For many things, like saving my life, for instance... or the hardship you endured for me back then."

"You’ve said it many times; you’re welcome. After all, I was born to save you. If you think from this perspective, I should probably thank you for giving me life."

Ethan Sterling was used to his glib nature, but didn’t expect they would have such a chance to chat and snack together.

Half an hour later, they had finished the instant noodles, each with a thin layer of sweat on their foreheads from eating.

Leon Sterling rubbed his full belly, stretching lazily, "Can I sleep here tonight?"

Ethan Sterling raised an eyebrow, "You’re looking for me because you have nowhere to stay?"

Although Vivian still maintained a friendship with Uncle, she’s probably gone beyond that point. So when she returned, knowing home was inconvenient, she went straight to Uncle’s house. Leon Sterling wouldn’t want to be a third wheel, so he would go to a hotel.

He definitely couldn’t stay at Sasha Shaw’s house, even though she, as a friend, had extended the invite.

Leon Sterling squinted with a smile that said, "You know but you still ask."

Ethan Sterling couldn’t be bothered with him, standing up, "You sleep here, I’ll go find my daughter."

Leon Sterling patted his shoulder, "Big bro, you gotta be happy, okay?" He said it casually, but his gaze towards Ethan Sterling was incredibly sincere.

"I will," Ethan Sterling responded, leaving the room.

Two months flashed by, Honey had recovered well, and as long as she kept taking her medication against the rejection reaction, there shouldn’t be any problems.

Faced with a handful of pills every day, Honey found it no trouble at all, thinking that soon she could have a healthy body just like other kids, it made her incredibly happy.

Because he needed to stay at the hospital with Honey, Seth Sterling hadn’t been to school. Although he rarely attended during the entire first grade, he still took the final exam to keep his enrollment, easily scoring first place in the whole school.

As for Honey, though she barely attended kindergarten, she had still honorably graduated and was about to step into elementary school.

Ruby Sullivan reflected on the events of the past six months, finding each one unbelievable. Her body had mostly recovered, and she no longer had to worry about her children’s issues. She got back into her thick Business Management book, reigniting her passion for returning to work.
