Chubby Mommy: Scheming Daddy, Surrender Now!-Chapter 133: A Delightful Conversation
Naomi Sinclair’s birthday party, Ruby Sullivan picked out one of the simplest white dresses in her closet, an A-line design that accentuated her figure. Since Naomi Sinclair was quite important to Ethan Sterling right now, naturally she had to get to know the other party a bit.
So, she deliberately chose a pair of dainty flat shoes because, according to the information she had gathered, Naomi Sinclair, though boasting a childlike face and a voluptuous figure, was not very tall, standing at just 158 cm. Even with high heels, it would be hard to compensate for her height deficiency. Ruby Sullivan didn’t want to make Naomi appear too short when standing together.
She intentionally got air bangs done, which not only made her look much younger but also appeared gentle and virtuous, devoid of any sharpness, entirely unlike how Ethan Sterling knew her. So when he saw her step out of their home in the evening, he stared at her for quite a while.
"Is there a problem?" Ruby Sullivan felt uneasy being stared at by him and looked down at herself, worried something was wrong.
Ethan Sterling shook his head, "You look good."
Only then did Ruby Sullivan relax and smile, "Since you say it looks good, then it must be okay." She had hurriedly left work after only a half day in order to prepare for the evening’s outing.
Once they got in the car, the faint floral scent on her emerged.
Ethan Sterling, sensitive to scents, found her perfume always pleasant, "Not Dream of the Mist?"
"I didn’t just make Dream of the Mist perfume, you know. Such an important occasion requires a special fragrance," Ruby Sullivan settled in, adjusting her dress, while holding a large gift in her hands.
"What’s this?" Ethan Sterling glanced curiously at the box.
"A secret," she smiled with slight nervousness. The gift she was giving was a secret weapon. She looked at Ethan Sterling, "Are you worried?"
Ethan Sterling raised an eyebrow, "Whatever." He paused for a moment, then added, "Rhonda Sullivan will be there today too." He noticed his wife’s face stiffen, and continued, "She won’t dare to mess with Naomi Sinclair and cause trouble, don’t worry."
"So you told me because you’re afraid I’d cause trouble?"
"You’re not that mindless." Ethan Sterling said with ease, yet a hint of concern showed in his eyes.
"Don’t worry, I also don’t think I’m that dumb." Ruby Sullivan patted his leg, a typical gesture of hers assuring him of her efficiency, followed by a playful wink.
Ethan Sterling laughed aloud; were it not for the neat hairstyle she had today, he would have loved to mess it up for fun.
The Splendor Grand Hotel is also an asset of the Sinclair Family, designed by renowned foreign designers in the European style. The first three floors are restaurants while the rest are accommodations, and the top floor houses the grand hall. Many in Ariston would love to hold a party there, and it’s said that bookings have been filled until next year.
The uniqueness of the top floor’s design is unparalleled in Ariston: it resembles a circular dome, but the shading ceiling is fully automated and can be opened at any time. A giant sapphire glass dome covers it, making rainy days the prettiest.
Legend has it that this design purely stemmed from President Sinclair Sr.’s desire to fulfill his daughter’s wish of attending Hogwarts, so inspired by the Great Hall, the design was brought to life.
Though renowned ever since its opening, there’s only one Splendor and no chain hotels.
Perhaps because President Sinclair Sr. never intended to profit from this hotel.
Today, the hotel’s elevators were specially configured, with two out of three leading directly to the top floor.
Ruby Sullivan took Ethan Sterling’s arm as they entered the lobby, handing an invitation to a staff member in a tailcoat by the elevator.
After examining the invitation, the staff member was exceedingly respectful, pressing the elevator button for them, "Please, do enter." Once the elevator doors closed, he promptly used a walkie-talkie to inform those above, "Notify the young miss that her esteemed guests have arrived."
Naomi Sinclair wore a striking floor-length gown today, an off-the-shoulder design that highlighted her slender neck beautifully. The dress was adorned with numerous rhinestones that twinkled under the lights, both dreamy and magnificent. Her shoes, comfortable-looking wedge heels.
Her entire ensemble, paired with playful and adorably styled double buns and air bangs, made it impossible to tell she was already 27; she could easily pass for 17 without raising suspicion.
Naomi Sinclair was famous for her versatility: she could be a mature lady or a cute girl. But on her birthday each year, she indulged in cuteness, fearful of aging.
Upon seeing Ruby Sullivan and Ethan Sterling enter the hall, she immediately approached them with a smile, "Wenny, I finally get to see you alive today!" Her raspy and husky voice contrasted sharply with her appearance, like a product of years of smoking.
Naomi Sinclair beamed warmth and spoke with enthusiasm, the exaggeration written all over her face, yet Ruby Sullivan found her face not disagreeable.
Naomi had big, round eyes that seemed to speak, much like her name, innocent in their depths.
Even if it was an act, it could fool anyone. Moreover, one of Ruby Sullivan’s quirks was her fondness for husky female voices, which she found charming.
Ruby Sullivan smiled back, "Indeed, Ethan has mentioned you. Finally, I see you in person." Mimicking her tone, Ruby Sullivan joked, perhaps too candidly, as if jesting with an old friend.
That’s her style; if she didn’t like someone, she’d be politely courteous instead.
Naomi Sinclair laughed more merrily, "You’re indeed interesting, just as I thought. Ethan, you certainly have good taste."
Ethan Sterling gave a slight smile, "Naturally."
Ruby Sullivan released her hold on Ethan Sterling, handed over the gift with both hands, "Miss Sinclair, happy birthday."
"Just call me Naomi, no need to be so formal."
Seeing her sincerity, Naomi also extended both hands to accept it, "What goodies do we have here?" Momentarily surprised, "Hot?"
Ruby Sullivan chuckled, stepped closer, and whispered, "If Miss Sinclair has someone place it in the room now, by the end of the party, you should enjoy a nice midnight snack."
"Oh my!" Naomi’s eyes lit up, straining to sniff through the glittering wrapping paper, "What delicious treat is this?"
"You’ll know when you see it," Ruby Sullivan winked.
Watching them chat and laugh, Ethan Sterling couldn’t figure it out for a moment. If not for their earlier conversation, seeing Emma would have made him think Ruby would be a great friend. But...though smiling, he frowned slightly.
Then Naomi, torn in excitement, stomped her foot, "I can’t stand it; I have to open it now. Otherwise, I won’t enjoy myself at the party today."
This took Ruby Sullivan by surprise, "Are you sure?"
"Definitely!" Naomi confirmed firmly, then said to Ethan Sterling, "I’ll borrow your wife for a moment." With that, she took Ruby Sullivan’s wrist, pulling her toward a table.
