Chubby Mommy: Scheming Daddy, Surrender Now!-Chapter 125: Congratulations
"Wenny!" L was the first to see her, taking off his glasses with a casual hand, happily greeting her.
L was a mix of Celestia and Bellaza, with deep eye sockets, and pupils of an emerald color, exuding an ancient mystery that could make one think of elves from movies. No matter the angle, he was incredibly good-looking. His physique, naturally, left no room for doubt, the naturally tall stature typical of people from Euronia and Meridia was fully evident in L.
This man carried an innate aura of nobility and attractiveness.
When Ruby Sullivan first saw him, she was momentarily dazzled. However, standing before her mentor, who greeted her like an old friend, she turned to stone, filled with unease.
The more amiable her mentor seemed, the more he indicated he wanted to make her suffer.
Suddenly, the warmth from her palm brought her back to reality. It turned out Ethan Sterling had taken hold of her hand.
Ruby Sullivan finally regained her composure, her previously cold body gradually returning to normal, and she greeted in Italian, "Master."
"I didn’t expect to run into you here." L acted as if he hadn’t seen Ethan Sterling beside her, "You’ve lost weight, could it be that you’re not used to Celestian cuisine?"
Ruby Sullivan smiled, not responding to this remark. In her heart, she thought, wasn’t becoming thinner the result you most wanted to see, Master? Surely, you couldn’t have caused such a grand ordeal to discomfort her, and yet she remains unaffected?
"Well then, enjoy your meal. We’ll be off."
L nodded, maintaining his gentlemanly smile, "I believe we will meet again soon."
Rhonda Sullivan’s gaze lingered on Ethan Sterling, only she didn’t expect that he’d behave just like Ruby Sullivan, not sparing her a glance. She didn’t understand Italian, and seeing Dr. L and Ruby Sullivan smiling warmly, she was already displeased. As they began to leave, she immediately stood up.
"Ethan Sterling, the child is already three months along." She stared directly at him, her face unrestrainedly filled with hate.
Ethan Sterling planned to pretend not to hear, but with no choice, Ruby Sullivan’s steps paused.
She tilted her head towards Rhonda Sullivan, smiling, "Congratulations."
Ethan Sterling thought the word appropriate and followed with, "Congratulations."
Then he leisurely walked out of the restaurant hand in hand with his wife.
Rhonda Sullivan felt a breath stuck in her chest, suffocating her. If not for the makeup on her face, her complexion would certainly have been pale. She swayed twice, steadying herself by grasping the table.
L glanced her way, smiling, "A three-month fetus isn’t that stable, you should be careful." He spoke fluent Celestian, almost with no accent, making it nearly indistinguishable that he was a foreigner.
L’s other hidden talent was his linguistic ability. He was proficient in the main languages of Euronia and Meridia, and in Astoria, besides Celestian, he also spoke Japanese and Korean well. Learning a language for him was like distinguishing subtle differences between spices, it didn’t require much mental effort.
However, few knew about this hidden talent of his; even Ruby Sullivan didn’t know he spoke Celestian. His main reason for opting to converse with Rhonda Sullivan in Celestian was his inability to endure her winding English accent.
Though he appeared to be concerned about Rhonda Sullivan, the smile on his lips was in fact because of his dear disciple.
When Ruby Sullivan first started learning from him, she spoke with little strength, and it was only later, through exposure, that she became quite sharp-tongued.
Rhonda Sullivan fixed her gaze on the table, clutching her stomach, attempting to calm her emotions before asking L, "I want to bring down The Sterling Group as quickly as possible."
L continued eating with a smile, without responding.
Rhonda Sullivan was a very useful pawn. Compared to that disobedient disciple, her determination and thirst for revenge were stronger, and she’d stop at nothing to achieve her goals. Sadly, she always forgot that she was just a pawn, and not the one making the moves.
Of course, he didn’t want to point this out to her explicitly, as recognizing but not saying anything was also a form of respect for people.
Elsewhere, after getting into the car, Ruby Sullivan mused over Ethan Sterling’s behavior, feeling much more cheerful, as if regardless of how severe the storm ahead might be, there was nothing to fear.
It wasn’t until the car stopped at the first red light that she tentatively asked, "Aren’t you worried that Rhonda Sullivan, in a fit of anger, might lose that child?"
Ethan Sterling raised an eyebrow, "Aren’t you hoping to anger her into losing the child?"
Ruby Sullivan fell silent, seriously pondering the question, and then sighed, "I really wish I could be that malicious." But she was a mother, and despite her hatred for that woman, there was always a voice in her heart saying the child was innocent.
If nothing unexpected happened, Rhonda Sullivan would certainly give birth to that child, meaning she’d be forever entangled with Ethan Sterling. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
Thinking of this, she couldn’t help but glance at Ethan Sterling, driving, with eyes filled with complexity, a mix of reluctance, resentment, and tenderness.
She couldn’t accept this fact, nor could she be as unscrupulous as Rhonda Sullivan to win a man, so all she could do was withdraw. Fortunately, leaving was already part of her plan.
"What’s wrong?" Ethan Sterling sensed her gaze and asked.
"Nothing, I just suddenly thought of Honey. There’s still no news of her." Ruby Sullivan looked ahead, genuinely growing despondent.
She thought that given enough time, she’d be able to accept this fact, but... could she really?
Ethan Sterling reached out to pat her head, hesitating slightly, and asked, "Do you want to go for a check-up this weekend?"
Ruby Sullivan was stunned, not immediately understanding what he meant.
"I’ve thought for a long time, rather than having Leon Sterling undergo the bone marrow test, I’d prefer having another child with you. Even if it means taking a risk, facing it with you shouldn’t be too hard," he spoke earnestly and calmly, as if this matter had been brewing in his mind for a long time.
Yet Ruby Sullivan still found it a bit unbelievable, "Do you really mean it?"
Ethan Sterling laughed, "Do you think I don’t know who’s been throwing things out of the drawer? Or do you think I don’t realize why you’re always so proactive?"
Ruby Sullivan blushed.
Indeed, she had been very active in their bedroom affairs, especially after the incident with Rhonda Sullivan. The larger her resentment towards Ethan Sterling grew, the more intensely she’d act out. After all, her motive was to have a child, and this made the matter the only way in her eyes to mutually hurt each other and be evenly matched with him.
She bit her lip, turning to look at the scenery, her face growing increasingly warm, "Since you’ve said it, let’s go to the hospital this weekend."
"Sure, I’ll schedule an appointment with the doctor." Ethan Sterling glanced sideways, he couldn’t see her expression, but he could hear that she was very happy.
He let out a long sigh, hoping all his efforts were worthwhile.
Throughout the afternoon, Ruby Sullivan was particularly cheerful, and it seemed her mood could affect her sense of smell. The progress on several experimental formulas went exceptionally smoothly.
Since returning from Meridia, Ethan Sterling had dinner appointments most nights, so she drove home herself. To avoid the traffic jam, she left work half an hour early, intending to return and cook something delicious for the three little ones at home.
