Chronicles of Forgotten Extra-Chapter 161: The Path Ahead?
Alden didn't think about what had happened anymore.
He decided it was time to move on. He couldn't afford to keep overthinking every problem.
If there were issues, he would deal with them—he just had to be strong enough.
With a clear mind, he walked toward his dorm, his steps slow and steady.
He had plans now.
The first on his list was heading to Cipher to collect the items he'd ordered and to tell her about the situation with Vanyaa.
The next task, however, was more straightforward—training.
He was going to train like a maniac over the next few days until the trip.
The trip was the beginning of the first major arc of the novel.

The Demon Contractors were scheduled to attack the first-year students during the trip.
Their primary target was Amyra.
Why? Alden had no idea, but their obsession with kidnapping her was undeniable.
In the novel, the reason was never fully explained.
This event would mark the turning point for Amyra's path into becoming a cold and ruthless villainess.
Naturally, Alden had every intention of stopping it.
He already had enough problems dealing with just the Demon King, and he didn't need another threat of that level on his hands.
And if Amyra did follow through with becoming a villain, Alden would deal with her while she was still weak.
He wasn't foolish enough to let a potential enemy live, especially one who could become a real threat to his life.
So, he hoped Amyra wouldn't choose that path.
Then there was the matter of Nyx.
She seemed relatively safe for now, but she was still an unknown variable.
From what Alden had observed, she didn't appear to be an immediate threat for now.
He had already decided the next course of his actions.
If the novel played out as expected, stopping the attack would've been simple.
But Alden knew better than to trust anything blindly.
The novel was nothing.
Honestly, he didn't even know if the attack would even happen or not.
Still, he was going to prepare.
He had also made one plan for the long term. And that is to gather allies.
Alden wasn't the type to rely on others, but to survive the coming calamity called–The demon king, he needed trustworthy allies.
Allies with whom he could trust his back with to not betray him.
He had already made strides with Amyra and Nyx, but that wouldn't be enough.
There were a few people he had in mind.
Zephyr was the first.
He was the best kind of ally—a rival, too.
Alden needed someone who could push him to grow, and he definitely couldn't rely on that "dumb simp" for that.
And if all the things the demon king said were true, then Zephyr would be one of the most likely characters to awaken a Supreme Ability.
Alden knew Zephyr's personality. He was straightforward, but he didn't betray his allies.
Even in the novel, his death occurred because he was trying to save his ally.
Befriending Zephyr would be simple.
I mean,
Isn't it easy to befriend a battle maniac?
All it took was defeating them in combat.
Next on his list was Aron, the only commoner among the top ten students.
Alden had already started to approach Aron, greeting him whenever their paths crossed.
Alden's next step would be creating a club.
Only second-year students and above were allowed to do that, but he already had a plan.
He would ask Jeremy for permission in exchange for agreeing to accept discipleship.
The time for hesitation was over.
The real story was about to begin.
And he needed to act for real.
Lost in his thoughts, Alden arrived at his dorm.
He paused for a moment, staring at the plain black door.
Normally, he would channel mana to unlock it without a second thought.
But today was different.
A letter was hanging from the door handle.
What was this?
Alden picked it up, the letter had the Draven family insignia.
It was an official letter.
What could it be about?
He didn't open it immediately, deciding to walk inside first.
The dorm was quieter than usual—or it should've been?
But when he saw the room, he had to say otherwise.
What the hell happened here?
Did somebody break in?
Could it be those men who attacked Vanyaa before?
Just then—
Alden heard noises coming from the kitchen.
He immediately rushed to the kitchen.
When he entered, his eyes widened—not in shock, but in pure bewilderment.
"What are you doing, Vanyaa?" Alden's voice was steady, but there was a slight hint of amusement in his tone.
Vanyaa stood in front of the kitchen counter, dressed casually—though that wasn't what caught his attention.
No, it was the fact that she was completely covered in flour.
From head to toe.
Her whole body had become as white as her hair.
Alden couldn't hold back his laughter.
"Pffft…What were you even trying to do?" he asked, his voice breaking into laughter.
The sight of her was just too much.
"Hahahaha." Alden laughed loudly. "Were you going to fight with that flour or something?"
Vanyaa's face shifted between emotions faster than the speed of light—first, she looked serious, then embarrassed, and finally, her face turned angry.
"No need to be such a jerk," she muttered. "I was just trying to be helpful."
Alden raised an eyebrow.
He was still struggling to keep his laughter in check.
"Help me?" he repeated, his tone teasing. "By getting yourself covered in flour? You know that this is the opposite of helping, right?"
Vanyaa's cheeks turned bright red.
She wiped some of the flour from her face with the back of her hand.
"I thought I'd be useful...and make you a meal." Her eyes softened slightly. "But I guess I just made a mess."
Alden watched her for a moment, the corners of his mouth curling into a faint smile.
Despite her frustration, and outward reaction he could feel her sincerity.
He couldn't help but feel a little bad.
"Thank you very much, Vanyaa." Alden thanked her with a smile.
Alden didn't have any little sister.
Neither in this life nor his previous life, but he was sure if he had any, she definitely would've been like Vanyaa.
Alden's mind relaxed a little just from the casual conversation.
Vanyaa looked at him, her expression shifting to resignation. "I'll clean up the mess, okay?"
"Nah, it's alright." Alden just dismissed her offer with a wave. "We've got to go to your mother, don't we?"
"Then what about all the mess?" She asked.
Alden gave a half-shrug, his playful smile softening into something a little more genuine.
"I'll just ask room service to clean it up." He replied casually. "Now get ready quickly.
"We'll leave once you're ready."
"Okay," Vanyaa muttered under her breath.
She walked off quickly, her head held down.
Alden, left alone in the kitchen, just let out a quiet sigh.
The day is going to be a lot longer.
He pulled out his ManaSync and messaged the room service to clean it up.
Then he pulled out his other Manasync–the one given by Cipher.
He messaged her about his visit. He didn't specify any reason.
Her reply arrived quickly.
__
After seeing her reply, Alden just entered back to his room.
He had something to do before leaving.
He pulled out the letter that was on the door.
The letter was an official letter.
Why did they send me this letter?
Did something happen back with the family?
Not that I care.
I just hope Alice is okay.
The whole family could burn in hell for all I care.
He opened the envelope to pull out a letter. The texture of the page was enough to know it was the highest quality of paper.
Alden carefully scanned it.
In a few seconds he was already done with it.
The letter was simple.
___
According to the Draven Family Law, Alden Draven had been excommunicated from the Draven Family. For sullying the name of the family by trying to force Princess Amyra.
FROM NOW ON HE SHALL NOT BE ALLOWED TO USE THE 'DRAVEN' NAME.
___
For a moment his face was unreadable before his lips curled up to form a smile.
"Hahahahaha, really?" He scoffed. "Do they think I care?"
Alden didn't feel any anger. He only felt disgusted by the hypocrisy of that disgusting family and its members.
It's good…. It's good they disowned me.
Still, Alden had one question in his mind.
Why does the letter not have the signature of the patriarch?
The letter only had the signature of the elder council, which decided important matters only in the absence of the Patriarch.
Is Alaric not present at the estate?
Alden thought. He didn't even refer to Alaric as Father anymore.
If anything, Alaric was just a failure to him.
It doesn't matter.
I'm finally free from that damned family and its disgusting members.
Today was not all bad after all.
Alden thought, thinking about this good news.
Alden's eyes lingered on the letter for a moment longer, the words on the page seeming almost too simple for the weight they carried.
Excommunicated.
Alden felt a particular feeling reading those words. A feeling which would kill him if he didn't express it the right way.
So he didn't hold back.
"FK DRAVEN FAMILY!" He yelled out loudly.
Only after releasing his true feelings did he feel better.
I feel a lot better now.
The letter was a nuisance, but it was only a small fragment of the chaos ahead.
Amyra's safety, the Demon Contractors, the trip—it was all building to something bigger.
Something Alden couldn't just ignore.
He would have to prepare, whether he liked it or not.
Alden crushed the letter in his hand, a grin on his face.
The past was dead.
The future awaited.
And he would carve his own path—starting now.
