Chef at the University Canteen-Chapter 431 - 262: "Jiang Yu" Means "Gourmet Food" (Part 2)
It’s not because Jiang University has a nice environment; there are schools with better environments than Jiang University. The reason Professor Hans is willing to stay is because Jiang Yu is here!
If there ever comes a day when Jiang Yu suddenly doesn’t want to stay at Jiang University, Jiang Gaozhe doesn’t even dare to think about whether Professor Hans would continue to stay.
Lost in his thoughts, Jiang Gaozhe caught a glimpse out of the corner of his eye of someone a little familiar sitting in a corner to his right.
He snapped back to reality, turned his head to take a closer look, and found Professor Qin with his head down, chopsticks in hand, indulging in a plate of garlic fish fillet.
The meal he had previously was long finished, and Professor Qin originally didn’t intend to eat more, but a few students at the next table kept talking about how delicious the newly introduced garlic fish fillet in the dining hall was—fragrant, spicy, deliciously fresh, and, crucially, boneless.
Professor Qin naturally didn’t believe this. Fish is tasty, but it’s hard to make it well. If not done right, the fishy smell is unbearable.
So, under normal circumstances, Professor Qin doesn’t eat fish because he can’t stand even the slightest fishy smell.
But later, these students mentioned that the garlic fish fillet was specially taught by Jiang Yu to the kitchen staff on the first floor, which is why it’s so good...
Upon hearing this, he couldn’t hold back any longer.
"Jiang Yu," this name is equivalent to "gourmet" in his mind now!
It’s not just idle talk; the feast he had on the second floor last night was proof, not to mention the just-eaten steamed pork ribs in black bean sauce, braised chicken feet with preserved vegetables, and smooth chicken with mushrooms, all dishes taught by Jiang Yu to the chefs on the first floor.
But this flavor is in no way inferior to the dishes he had last night!
Just one taste, and Professor Qin was utterly "smitten," burying his head like the students beside him, devouring the food.
If he hadn’t finished his meal, he might not have heard the students’ discussions beside him.
Thus, although he was already somewhat full, Professor Qin only hesitated for a moment before lifting his empty tray, standing up, and striding over to the window, extending his tray forward and saying to the student working there:
"Fellow student, could you give me a serving of garlic fish fillet?"
"Professor, would you like some rice as well?"
"No, no, just some garlic fish fillet, please."
Having gotten a serving of garlic fish fillet, Professor Qin hurriedly returned to his seat, eagerly picking up a piece of fish and popping it into his mouth.
As soon as the fish entered his mouth, the fragrant and spicy flavors instantly reawakened his settled taste buds, and he couldn’t help but chew gently.
The fish was fresh, fragrant, tender, and full of garlic flavor. That wonderful taste made him feel entirely comfortable, almost wanting to run to an open square and shout.
He was already quite old, so running to the square to shout was unrealistic, but savoring the exquisite taste of the garlic fish fillet again was doable.
So, he buried his head again and continued eating heartily without hesitation.
Professor Qin, with his head down, indulged in the garlic fish fillet on his plate, completely ignoring the surrounding students’ chatter and laughter, so he didn’t notice when Vice Dean Jiang Gaozhe appeared beside him.
As he was enjoying his meal, a surprised voice suddenly reached his ears:
"Professor Qin? Why are you here eating alone?"
Startled, Professor Qin raised his head and saw the surprised face of Vice Dean Jiang Gaozhe standing in front of him!
Why did he come here too?
No, he came looking for me!
Professor Qin suddenly realized and quickly chewed and swallowed the fish in his mouth, apologetically saying:
"Dean Jiang, hehe, well, um...
I suddenly felt a bit dizzy from hunger, remembered that the dining hall here was open, so I rushed over to eat, sorry about that."
Upon hearing this, Jiang Gaozhe immediately asked, "Oh? Do you have low blood sugar? Are you feeling better now?"
"Yes, I have a bit of low blood sugar, I get hungry easily, and I get dizzy when I’m hungry."
Professor Qin nodded quickly, adding, "Now that I’ve eaten a bit, my stomach is no longer empty, so I feel much better."
"It’s good that you’re okay,"
Jiang Gaozhe breathed a sigh of relief. It’s normal to have minor health issues with age as long as there’s no real harm done.
Especially since this is at an academic exchange event hosted by their college. If Professor Qin had any issues, it would be a real headache.
Without thinking much further, he smiled at Professor Qin and said,
"Professor Qin, shall we go? Professor Hans, Professor Liang, and Professor Lu are all still waiting at Taoyuan Conference Hall."
"What? I’m not going. I’m already full."
Startled, Professor Qin waved his hand and said, "Dean Jiang, my stomach is already almost bursting. I’m not going, really not going."
"What’s the matter with being full? Professor Qin can still go over, have a drink, and eat some dishes,"
Jiang Gaozhe chuckled, still trying to persuade him.
Honestly, it was hard enough for the college to organize such a large event, initially intending to gain some prestige for the school and elevate the college’s status in the academic world.
