Chapter 54: Who told her to act nice?

The next moment Valerie woke up, she found herself free from the bounds. Though her body was no longer bound, her feet were cuffed to a long chain that was connected to the leg of her bed.

She was also in another room. Even if she wasn’t able to see the other room clearly, she was able to tell that it was large and this one was smaller than it.

Though it wasn’t so small that one would feel cramped.

She got down from the bed, the chains rattling after her movement, and stretched her body straight, her waist and her arms. It had been so long since she moved and she felt so stiff.

But other than feeling stiff, she felt hungry.

All week, they were probably sustaining her with drips. But now that she was awake and feeling her stomach, she couldn’t ignore the hunger.

"How do I get out of here?" She muttered and looked up at the door. "Will someone come to save me?" She muttered once more but remembered that Frankie was dead and shook her head. "I guess not."

Other than Frankie, the next person who could help her was Maximus and maybe Grandpa Leo but she wasn’t even sure they knew where she was.

The incident was probably all over the news and internet searches but she wasn’t sure the exact location of the asylum was stated on the news.

"Dammit! I can’t believe they were able to get me. Who was it? Who thought of such a devious and wicked plan?" She shoved her fingers through her hair in frustration. "Was it Uncle, Aunt? Or was it Lucy? She’s dumb in her dealings but there’s no way to rule her out. She hates me more than anyone." She said to herself and sat back on the bed.

This whole plan was brilliant and they made sure to set it up while she was not in the house. She had been so laid back thinking they could never go so extreme yet they did and got her. And they even got Frankie involved.

They killed her.

Her hands trembled as she remembered Frankie’s cold and pale appearance and how lifeless she looked as she sat in between those dolls.

There were other victims of this act. Frankie wasn’t the only dead human in the middle of those dolls. So many people died because they wanted to get rid of her. It was so cruel.

Her heart ached. Whoever did this... Whoever it was... She would make sure to repay them tenfold. Tear them limb from limb and avenge all that had to die because of them.

Her thoughts were interrupted as someone opened her door and she raised her head to see a nurse.

She walked in with a tray of food and clumsily dropped it on the table next to Valerie and said,

"Eat up or starve. Your choice." With those words, she made her way out of the room. She looked like she couldn’t care less and just did what she was told and delivered the food.

And this caused Valerie to be on alert. That food... It might have been poisoned.

She looked at it. It was soup. A plain and cold white soup with no aroma.

Poison aside, how was she supposed to ingest something so inedible?

Nevertheless, she took the soup. She didn’t want to raise any suspicions and end up getting shots that would render her unconscious again.

She needed to figure out how to get out of there and get her phone from Max. With her phone, she would be able to find out who the culprit behind this whole scheme was.

Valerie got up with the soup in her hand. Who told her to act slow? Who told her to play nice and give them time to act against her?

She took steps towards the bathroom.

Who told her she was invincible? Even if she was, the people around her weren’t and that was why she lost the only person who was on her side in that mansion. The only person she considered a friend in her life.

The dead look on her face as she approached the bathroom, coupled with the rattling of her chain made the atmosphere of her dark room scary. She looked like she could kill anyone.

Who told her to act nice? A Villainess? Pathetic! She was too weak to be considered as that.

She entered the bathroom, poured the soup inside the toilet bowl, and flushed it.

From now on, she was done playing nice. She would hit them as hard as they hit her and not hold back one bit.

"An eye for an eye, uncle." She said as she watched the water spin.

A few hours later, the nurse returned and glanced at Valerie who was sitting calmly on her bed with her head down.

Then, she glanced at the empty bowl.

"Who do you think you’re trying to fool?" The nurse said and suddenly rushed to grab Valerie’s hair. "There were sleeping pills in that soup, capable of knocking out a cow, yet you’re awake. You didn’t drink it, did you?"

Valerie didn’t know that. If she did, she might’ve just faked her sleep.

"Your bitch, I’m trying to be nice but it seems you’d rather take shots than take them in your meal." The nurse said,

"And how do you expect me to eat something that’s gone cold?" Valerie asked, glaring at her and the nurse hit her across the face.

"Haha, sorry to break it to you, ’your highness’ but this isn’t your castle. Here, you eat what you’re given or you starve." She said and Valerie glanced at the name tag on her breast pocket. This nurse’s name was Regina.

Valerie shifted her gaze from the name tag and stared Regina in the eye.

As soon as their eyes met, Regina flinched. The look of murder in Valerie’s eyes was so vivid but she didn’t want to be pushed back by someone who was now under her.

This was her chance to use her authority against the most famous Villainess of all time.

She hit Valerie again. Slapped her cheeks repeatedly and Valerie stayed still, taking the hits as they came. She did not struggle or fight back.

It wasn’t because she was dumb or because she was scared but she would rather use the little energy she had left to figure out a way to escape and not waste it on this stupid nurse.

And who knows? If she fights back now, they may just increase the dosage of her shots with the claims that she was getting violent. She wasn’t a fool.

"Don’t mess with me." Regina said and pushed Valerie back. "They told me to ’take care’ of you and that is exactly what I’m going to do. So you’ll be seeing a lot of me. You better behave."

She said, took the tray out with her, and locked the door from outside.

"Once you’re starved, you’ll naturally come to your senses." She spat out haughtily and left.

Valerie spat out the blood in her mouth and wiped her mouth with her arm.

"Sure, there’s no way they would let me live a comfortable life even while I’m out of their hair." She said and laid back on the bed.

Then, someone tapped on her door and whispered,

"Hey, it’s me. I’m coming in."
