Chasing The Vengeful Villainous Heiress-Chapter 136: I swear, you’re an attention whore
From there, Valerie and Max took a walk around. They held hands, bought street food, and filled their stomachs like a normal couple would.
They visited a cafe, talked, and laughed while the people around them envied this extremely gorgeous couple. One had an explicable beauty with red eyes, and the other looked like he was a fallen angel because he looked devilishly handsome.
’They say beautiful people only hang out with beautiful people. I guess that’s what they’ll probably be thinking.’ Valerie thought as she sipped on her Americano.
"You having a good time?" Max asked and she redirected the question.
"Why? Aren’t you?" She asked and he laughed before reaching his hand out to clean the foam off the corner of her mouth.
"I’m having a great time." He said and rested his back on his chair. "Haah, after working so much, I at least needed this kind of break. Sitting in a cafe, staring at my beautiful wife and not having to worry about the executives being on my neck about stock prices." He said, and Valerie laughed.
"Yeah, I guess a break is the best."
She slowly lowered her head as she remembered something.
"You know," she raised her head. "We signed a contract." She said, and Max’s expression slightly shifted. "And though I know we’re not following it anymore, I can’t deny that we agreed to trade shares."
"You want the shares? I’ll give them to you." Max said but she shook her head.
"That’s not it. Well, as your wife’s, having a part of your shares isn’t a bad thing. That’s a certain guarantee that I have a place in Stewart, but... I’m trying to bring up giving my shares to you. All of it."
Max went silent. Yeah, they would’ve come to this topic sometime.
"Well, I don’t mind." He said. "You already said you’d give up the company, so giving up the shares isn’t a surprise, but for safekeeping, keep some for yourself." He said and she nodded. "And also," he paused and shook his head. "Forget it."
"What is it?" She asked, causing him to eventually say the words in his head.
"I was going to say that the person to whom you should be giving the shares should be Mariam, but I don’t want that." He said. "Mariam’s still young. If she focuses on managing Ross completely, she’ll never live the normal life I want for her."
"Being a Stewart already canceled her chances of living a normal life in the long run, Max. Managing Ross won’t exactly be changing anything." Valerie pointed out. "You’re just scared that she won’t have a chance to be a child. She’s all grown up now but she still needs to go to college and make friends."
She stirred the sparkling water that the waiter had dropped and focused on the sound that was made when the spoon hit the walls of the glass.
"Yeah, she needs to experience so many things that her age experiences this time in life, so you’re scared that if she takes up Ross and becomes serious about it, she’ll never be able to go back." She raised her gaze to meet his. "Am I right?"
"Very perceptive, Valerie," Max said, rubbing his forehead and he sighed. "Don’t give her the shares. I’ll take them." He said. "But I’ll give them to her, eventually. When she’s older."
Valerie got up and poked his forehead with her index finger.
"Let’s just follow the flow."
Max caught her hand and kissed it.
"Yeah, let’s follow the floor."
The people at the cafe watched this scene and blushed. So romantic.
They hadn’t been able to hear what the two were talking about but they were able to see their movements and gestures.
"Gosh, what can a girl do to get that kind of prince charming?" A lady squealed and Valerie realized they were being watched like a movie screen.
"I think we should leave now." She said and Max nodded.
"But don’t you think we should feed their eyes a little more?" He asked with a smirk on that made Valerie feel he was going to do something extravagant.
And as she suspected, he did.
He swept her off her feet and walked out with her like the prince they had envisioned, earning the squeals and screams of not just the customers but also the employees.
"I swear, you’re an attention whore." She mumbled, but loud enough for Max to hear.
"Then I guess our roles are reversed." He said with a cheeky smile and she rolled her eyes.
Their next stop was where Valerie least expected. They had already done everything on Max’s ’list’ so she didn’t know where they were going next.
"Oh, are we headed for the ’surprise’?" She asked and she glanced at her from the wheels with a bright smile.
"You’ll see,"
They got to the destination and it seemed to be a long way into town. Almost the end of it as well.
It was already 4 pm and she was getting exhausted.
She rested her head on the window while staring out, to see the moving things and people. It was calm.
"Are you feeling sleepy?" Max asked and she turned away from the window.
"Will it make your surprise a lot more surprising if I fall asleep now?" She asked and to which he tittered.
"Not really. I’ll still put a blindfold on you before going in so if you sleep now, it’ll be the same thing." He said. "Do whatever you like."
Valerie couldn’t help but wonder what the surprise was even more now.
What was it that he was being so secretive? A surprise? What and where was it?
With these thoughts in mind, Valerie ended up falling asleep.
She woke up to rocky movements like someone was carrying her. But when she opened her eyes, it was dark.
’Ah, it’s a blindfold.’ she thought. ’He did say he’d put a blindfold on me. What? Are we going to have sex with a blindfold on? Is that his surprise?’ she wondered. ’But where are we going? Do we have to go to a specific place to have blindfolded sex?’
"Are you awake?" She heard Max ask and opened her mouth to speak but before she could utter a word, he said, "We’re here. I’ll take the blindfold off now."
’So it’s not blindfolded sex.’ Valerie thought as Max placed her down on her feet. ’Then, what is it?’
Her curiosity, even at the moment when she was going to find out what the surprise was, was at its peak.
The blindfold slowly fell off and Valerie gazed at what was in front of her. Books!
She looked to her left. More books.
She looked to her right. Even more books.
Where were they?
"Welcome to Valerie’s Library." Max said, getting in front. "Do you like it? I bought it, especially with your preferences in mind."
"You bought me... A bookstore?"
