Chapter 283: Pray and what? - I

A room with no windows and no clock had a major disadvantage to it and that was, one had no idea if it was the day or the night. Or if the next day had already begun.

Apart from that, it might have been just an hour that had passed and Evelyn was mistaking it to be an entire day going by without anyone coming into her room and bothering her.

It must have been an hour or two. Because there was no way that Matt would leave her alone, Especially after knowing that she was pregnant.

The baby was the bargaining key and he would never let anything happen to it because that was one way to control Salvatore.

A knock came on the door and just as Evelyn turned to sit up on the bed and look at it, it opened and a woman dressed in white shirt and black pants entered.

"Come with me," she said, "it’s time for your lunch."

Lunch? So it had been an hour.

Not wanting to risk anything especially physical assault, Evelyn did as told and followed the woman out of the room and into the whole way she had been in once.

She tried not to think about it again again, but truly wondered what Arabella had had for lunch. If she had given trouble to anyone and even then had someone bother to feed her.

They would have, right?

If none of them would have stepped up, the stuff she meant, then Alexis would have definitely taken over. She could trust Alexis and Bella Rosa when it came to her daughter.

They took up two flights of stairs before entering another hallway and on the second double doors, they stepped in and Evelyn found it to be a makeshift dining room.

Only two seats had cutlery and plates laid out in front of them and they were opposite to one another.

"take the one at the back end," she said and Evelyn felt her feet moving before her mind comprehended the command.

It was once Evelyn had her ass planted on the seat did she look around the room.

It was definitely makeshift. The walls were grey and and even as if someone had not bothered with the finishing of them and left the house in a hurry, or whatever it was.

Which meant that this house was definitely not any kind of civilisation where the interior design of the house mattered. It had been left off and not completed, so that gave her the disadvantage.

The disadvantage was that no one was going to look here because this was either going to be too far from civilization, or something that would not cross the mind of someone.

Minutes later, Matt entered and Evelyn straightened up in her seat.

After him came the chef, or who she is and it was because they were carrying a trolley with two plates of food. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖

One was kept in front of her and the other was kept in front of Matt, the one in front of her was going to remain untouched the entire night because she was definitely not risking getting poisoned.

"I hope the food is to your liking. As far as I remembered," Matt sighed and got a hold of his cutlery, "you liked chicken more than any other meat."

She still did but there was no way in hell she would ever agree and eat anything given to her.

Seconds later, he was already eating yet she remained as still as she had done in the beginning of the dinner. The plate of food, as much as she hated, remained untouched.

Food was being wasted and she hated that. But it was the only option that she could do instead of risking getting poisoned.

"What?" Matt questioned when he looked up and noticed that she was not eating. "You are pregnant, Evelyn. If you want something else you can tell me."

Tell him?

Nevermind. "Thank you, but I’m not going to eat anything."

"Is that so?" He chuckled, " and why would you not be eating anything?"

The nonchalant behaviour irritated her.

Because it was poisoned?

"It is not poisoned or drugged, Evelyn." He shook his head slowly, side to side as if disappointed in her. "Why would you think that low of me?"

Could there possibly be a correct answer to that question without getting shot or getting him angry? If yes, then Evelyn wanted to say it to his face.

"You have kidnapped me, Mat. You are trying to take over my father’s organisation that is rightfully someone else’s. You’re doing all the wrong things so why should I trust you to do one thing right?"

" because I’m not going to hurt a child."

Evel scoffed, "You talk war and tell me that you don’t want to hurt a child. Let me tell you something, Matt, in a war women and children are always the ones that end up getting hurt."

"Alright then," he replied, "is there something else that I can do? Because you need to eat."

"Yes please, you can send me home and I will eat there."

"Hah!" He barked out a laugh and Evelyn barely controlled the flinch. "You are funny Evelyn. And that is not happening."

"Then I am not eating."

"Huh," he drank Half of his water on the way. "If that is what you wish."

What? Startled, She looked at him questioningly but Matt did not grace her with a look a rather just got up after he had finished his food and walked out of the room."

"Come on," The same woman entered again and just as she said, Evelyn got up to follow her back into the room she was given before. Once the Loc was in place, Evelyn went to the bed and resumed the position she had taken up earlier.

Lying down on it, she closed her eyes and prayed because that seemed like the only thing she could do.
