Chaos In The Darkness; Salvatores's Salvation-Chapter 136: A Bitter baby - III
"I.." she gulped, trying again, "I really, really did not know." She whispered the words as she slowly shook her head indicating that she really had not done it.
He chuckled, a dark, malicious chuckle. "And if you knew? What would you have done if you knew?"
She licked her lips. What would have she done? It was clear that if she had known about this ever before, but if she did, Evelyn would have never continued through with the marriage. Slowly and steadily she would have made everyone aware of the situation that she was dealing with.
"I would have made everyone aware," she whispered very slowly, thinking of what to say before actually saying it. "I would have revealed this information to everyone." The revealing of this information would have changed everything.
"Hm," he huffed. "My father might not look like that but he is a Christian. Do you know what he would have done to you, Evelyn?"
She waited for him to tell her. The horrifying truths to whatever it was that his father would have done to her.
Without how he was staring at her waiting for an answer, she knew he was not going to go forward unless you received one.
"What?" She whispered, her voice did not go above his ears.
"He would have done two things," he sad as he raised two fingers, one index and one middle upwards, "he would have sent you to a nunnery and made sure that you delivered the child there and had it adopted, or he would have simply had you abort the child."
She flinched at the word.
Abort.
Adopt.
"Aww," he cooed at her mockingly, " did Evelyn think that he will let you keep the child? And for those motherly instincts already coming up, tell them to sit the fuck down." He snapped harshly, making her Yelp.
He left her personal space, stepping back as he paced in front of her.
She gulped as he watched her work left and right muttering things to himself, frequently cursing and running his hands through his hair.
He was angry.
She was going to die.
"Salvatore—"
"Shut it!" He yelled, making her flinch and look down in her lap.
"You don’t speak until I tell you to," he snapped. *Not a fucking word."
If possible, Evelyn would have sewed her mouth shut. She stared at him in horrified silence waiting for him to say something. Waiting for him to throw a question her way that she would finally be able to answer even though she knew she was going to be unable to do so.
Pregnant. She was pregnant with another man’s baby that she did not even know...
Holy shit, it could not be more worse than this. She had no idea who she had spent the night with. So, It was literally a one night stand.
Her eyes moved to the man who was staring at a particular item on the dressing table. Hopefully, he would not ask her who she was with that night.
His eyes moved to her stomach all of a sudden and she jumped. Her first Instinct was to cover her stomach with her hands away from his eyes but then she did not have the courage to do so. It was like she was being held prisoner under his eyes.
"What have you done, Evelyn?" He whispered it so softly that Evelyn was not even sure if she had heard them correctly.
Remaining at the spot where she had been sitting the entire conversation she replied, "I really did not know, Salvatore. I would have never gone through with the marriage if I knew about it. I had not have the slightest—’
"But you knew you had been throwing up." He intervened, "you know that you had been throwing up for the past three months and you did not do anything about it. How many times had I asked you to go for a check up and how many times had you turned the offer down?"
She felt her eyes widened at the thought of what it might be sounding like.
"One would think that you were aware of what was happening." He confirmed what she was thinking. "One would think that you knew exactly what you were doing." 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
But she did not. Being pregnant was the farthest thing on her mind.
Tears welled up in her eyes at the helplessness she felt. The only thing she could do was shake her head in knowing the assumption he had.
All she could do was shake her head at the accusations he had made. She could not lose her birds. It seemed like they had vanished away.
"I would never do that," she finally managed to croak out the words. "I would never lie and hide something so huge.." yet so small, she could barely feel it.
"I swear to you Salvatore, I really did not k-know." Evelyn had started to cry by the end of it. "Please ..." She begged to man who stared at her without any emotions, "please believe me, Salvatore—"
"Don," he cut her off. "It is Don Alessandro for you."
"Wh-what?" She whispered, staring at him with huge filled eyes. "do.. Salvatore please, please don’t do this." She begged.
He did not reply. He did not even change his expressions, rather he just seemed to be staring at her without any sort of answer in her or easing her pain.
He just continued to stare at her making her even more miserable than before.
"Please," she begged again, at the end of her options. "I really did not know. I would have never deceived you like this."
Deceiving the don would have meant death and she would have never done it. But unknowingly she had already committed the crime and she knew she would have to pay for it.
He tsked with a shake of his head. "Think about what you’ve done." Was what he said before he started to walk out.
